I was working on a friends TOM yesterday, balls were getting stuck in the subway trough, not making it to the popper. The basement door was opening and the popper firing but balls were getting stuck at the sub release lock coil. The 4 switches in that trough/popper all work fine. I noticed that the release coil fires and returns very quickly, is it supposed to stay down for a little time or is it supposed to be this fast? Seems to me that a waiting ball barely has time to move before the lock coil returns to its home position.

I fiddled with the 3rd switch wire and it seemed to have fixed it but was told later that the fault had returned.

Any comments? Is this a common problem? I cant see any posts about it from others.

I have been told by the owner that it is still playing up, he has fiddled with the switch actuator wires but to no avail. I'm going to have to have another look at it, trouble is he lives 30 miles away and works away so its probably going to be a few weeks before I get to him.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Any sugestions?

Thanks

Is it fair to assume the coil should remain pulled in until the waiting ball has released the 3rd ( closest to popper ) switch?

Thanks for the replies. Machine is leveled and pitched correctly. I will check the wires to the coil when I get to his place in a few weeks.
