Broke the metal bracket that holds one of the stationary targets in place. Electrically, the target still worked fine. Removed the old target and, and soldered on a new one. Going by the pictures of the old target, I believe I have the new one soldered correctly.

Problem is that when I start a game, neither target responds. Can anybody help me trouble shoot this one?

Thanks

Is that the left target? My recollection is that it simply daisy chains to the right. They function as one switch and the game can't differentiate between them. Thus, it makes sense both would fail at once. Are the left target terminals wired to the matching terminals on the right target? If so, focus on the right target. Maybe a wire came off while you were working on the left or there's a cracked solder joint, etc. If not that, trace the wiring from the right target back up the line and see what you find.

It is the left target and it does daisy chain to the right one. Did check for a cracked solder joint, but didn't notice one. Will check again and trace the wires.

Could it be that I soldered the left target at the wrong position around the diode?

The target's bracket made it lean into the playfield a bit, closing the switch. Bent the bracket back a little, now it remains open and works fine.
