Assuming both in same condition.............Which one would you go with.

I have lotr and I use to have TOM. Lotr by far is the way to go due to how deep it is. TOM is fun for a couple weeks but then it gets old pretty quickly. LOTR will have you coming back for a long time.

#3 7 years ago

Also had both- sold TOM after 6 months- LOTR keeper.

#5 7 years ago

I own TOM and LOTR L.E. LOTR is what I would keep if it came down to that.

#6 7 years ago

Is this a real question?

LOTmotherF'nR no doubt.

You shall not pass
Suuuperrr jackpot
The Ents will go to war
Destroy the ring

Anyone else sing Bash the Balrog to the Clash "Rock the Casbah"?

I've owned both and LOTR is still downstairs while ToM is long gone

#8 7 years ago

Owned both - LOTR by a mile.

#9 7 years ago

Apples or Oranges for sure, but I'd lean towards Apples...I mean LOTR

#11 7 years ago

Had both...neither lasted long. I think LoTR has the edge though.

#12 7 years ago

I just traded my LOTR for a TOM. I am very happy with my decision!! TOM is a great game.

That's what bill the pony said.

LOTR I feel has a bit more shot selection and the mutliball is great. ToM is sick eye candy but LOTR is a better player. I have both 5 feet from one another and if one had to go - ToM buy a mile would leave.

LOTR is ok but long and boring. When i play one i don't even want to finish after 10 minutes . Let's face it TOM IS a 100 times better theme. LOTR is based on a bunch of man loving midgets. I have had TOM for 3 months and am not tired of it at all. I have an 8 game collection with mostly A titles and when i have pinball players over they stay on TOM.

#16 7 years ago

lol @ the man loving midgets, good stuff there.

Nah. I sing it to the "Catch the Pigeon"
"Bash that balrog nowwwww!!!"

LOTR. Double deffo.

#19 7 years ago

I own them both and LOTR by a mile. I own about 10 games better then ToM but not as good as LOTR. And they are all Bally / Williams games so I am not a Stern fanboy.

#20 7 years ago

very different games....if you want a game that will be fairly easy to play for casual players go with TOM, if you want something to be a challenge and not just a quick pinball fix get LOTR, hard to compare them to each other because they are both great games but each have their own place and time

#21 7 years ago

that being said for my own home use i would go with LOTR over TOM

#22 7 years ago

TOM is much prettier with smooth-as-butter flow. Seriously beautiful ball movement.LOTR wins in every other category.

#23 7 years ago

Op...what did you eventually do?
I too own both...don't plan on ever getting rid of either....but if push came to shove, lotr would still be mine...without any hesitation.

#24 7 years ago

I'm sensing a trend here. Glad to hear the support for LOTR, as my new to me LOTR arrives tonight!

#25 7 years ago

LOTR by a mile......... And that's coming from a fan of TOM.

#27 7 years ago

I filled out the "poll" half expecting to see the results 50-50! It turns out, 99 of us(Me included), have good taste in Pinball machines! Yes, I voted for LOTR!

TOM, at first, is a blast! Its a Williams/Bally, so it feels great! Its got a great theam, and fantastic playfield toys for the theam! Even a cool, one way gate, to hit the ramp! But play it long enough, and you'll find out just how shallow it is. (Eprom mod candidate?)

Try the Stern, LOTR. Ok, so the feel of the flippers isn't the same as Williams. But that game rocks! Its got tons on modes and it will keep you entertained for years to come! Playfield toys aren't as exciting as TOM, but over all I'd go with LOTR, hands down.

LOTR

Hard to upgrade from this title. It spoils you.

ToM is a really fun game, Ive had for 7 months and still dig it, LOTR is truly the better game but on appearance ToM destroys almost any machine......funny, its sits right next to my LOTR!
