ToM Multiball Issue

Hi guys:

This happened after installing playfield LEDs but surely that is a coincidence?

When the machine announces 'multiball' it doesn't kick the balls out of the basement, as it should. The machine just sits there but here is the strange part. After a number of seconds, it does a ball search (as it should) and after a number more seconds, a second ball search and then a third ball search. Then it announces 'multiball' again and, this time, it does kick the balls out as it should.

Obviously, there are no balls stuck otherwise it wouldn't necessarily kick the balls out when it announces 'multiball' for the second time.

It's always the same. No balls kick out on the first multiball announcement but they do kick out on the second multiball announcement.

I did check the ball trough optos (not knowing what else to try) and they are working as they should.

The machine worked fine until I changed the inserts to LEDs today but how can doing that cause this to happen?

Any help appreciated.

Check the ball trough. Divots in the bottom where the balls roll ? Balls magnetized.

Then go into Tests - Switch Edge, and try all the switches on the playfield you see and the ball trough optos, roll the balls in one at a time. See if you hurt the switch matrix on the cpu. If you put LEDs in with the power on.

Thank you Lloyd.

How do I test the switch matrix on the CPU?

I think I may have found the problem.

One of the lock switches is not registering.

I have to order a switch and, if it doesn't fix the problem, I'll report back.

Thanks.

Need adjusting ? Broken wires there or at other switches using the same wire colors ?

Got it!

A wire had dropped off 'lock #3' switch. 2 minute fix.

I guess I should have inspected the lock switches first.

Thanks to LTG for helping me.
