I'm looking to do the inserts on my new ToM soon and noticed that most lamps are 90 degrees to the insert. Cointaker's flex LEDs would be perfect, but I find them to be over-powering particularly on small inserts, which are most of the inserts on ToM. Ideally, a flex mini or flex frosted would work, but they don't exist.

For those of you who've LED'd ToM, what'd you suggest?

I went with the flex warm white.

Your photos look good. Do you find it to be offensively bright at all?

warm whites arent as harsh as cool whites. plus on the flex you could bend it back away from the insert to make it a little less bright

I have the frosted cointakers in mine. Plenty bright but not overpowering. Colors to match inserts, some warm whites and some cool in multicolored inserts. Flex white in the advance clock insert since it needed some extra help.

No, I did do some tweaking to eliminate hot spots like changing out the white retro on the left side of the center ramp, I put a flexi in that spot to move the light under the ramp.
The cool whites add a blue hue, I use then under clear and white inserts sometimes.
I don't use a lot of colors, mainly under translucents like the caps and rollover guides.
I have fast color changers under the spell inserts and in the socket where the yellow condom was used on the left of the Spirit Ring.
I also used a color changer in the insert in front of the newton ball and behind the cauldron in the backbox.
For the most part warm whites and I only use colors under inserts if they are faded.
Not a big fan of the color zone look but some people like that, to each their own.

TOM is probably the only pin I would not put LEDs in. The light show on it with incandescent bulbs is just beautiful!

Use the 4 led ablaze from pbl. I used one flex for the haunted mansion insert. The 4 led ablaze worked just as good.
