Still early in the investigation here, but I just replaced the motor for my ToM's trunk.

Everything seemed to be working just fine until... during gameplay it spits another ball into the plunger area. It seems to intermittently think that there's 4 balls in the trough, or maybe some other reason it just shoots the ball up.

It's pseudo random too... it happens mostly when the ball is on the left ramp, but not exclusively - it happens at other times. But it ALWAYS happens after I drop down from the spirit ring.

I figure I crossed a wire somewhere, and as I said I'm still early in my investigation, but if anyone has any ideas or directions to point me I'm all ears.

May I ask, why would I start with the columns and rows of the ball jam opto? Just curious of the reasoning for that, does triggering that opto make a ball launch out of the trough?

Sorry to say I'm having a heluva time trying to find the issue, I've looked everything over and my (limited experience) eyes can't find the problem.

I went through all the switches on the same row and column and tested them out on the single switch test, and triggering them didn't seem to make the ball jam switch flicker on the display.

The only 100% time it does it is when the spirit ring is activated, the funny thing is, it seems to short the jam opto (if that is in fact the issue) AFTER the ball drops from the ring. There must be something happening when the spirit ring magnet deactivates - or at least that's my thinking.
