    A few notes....make sure you save that police report noting that your plates were stolen...God forbid the thief uses them on a car for a major crime. You DON'T want this to come back to you. Secondly, FWIW, I'm fairly certain that plate theft is a felony. *If* the perp should ever be caught (unlikely) he'll be in some deep stuff. Are you getting an exact replacement plate from your DMV?
