So I am really confused after reading pinrepair guide recommending varathane rattle can water-based clear, and having very detailed instructions on how to do so, I come here and read nightmare stories about using varathane.
The clear coat that is on this table is not that bad however I have re stained the ball inlet lane, done major touch ups around pop bumpers, top and all of the inserts, so I really have no choice but to clear this table.
I have never done so but feel confident in my abilities to follow pinrepair guide with the varathane. Getting ready to mask off the rest of the components and nails that I am not removing wipe it down ( gently or aggressively?) with naphtha and it will be ready.
What are my concerns with the varathane process as I have never cleared a pf.
Please be kind this is my table and my hobby I plan on doing it myself no matter what the outcome just trying to do my diligence.

I have seen it, but not lately. I suppose I need to reread it before I do anything foolish, I just like the convenience of being able to spray with a rattle can. However I am a collector and plan on keeping this machine for years so yellowing with age is definitely a concern with the varathane thank you
