Wanted to spread the word that the official TNA Launch Party for WI is happening soon.
Special guests from team Spooky which will include Charlie, Bug, KingPin, and Scott (plus more).
Special prizes provided by team Spooky and KingPin!

Where: Alt Brew (Brewery with great local beer and food)
1808 Wright St
Madison, WI

When; Sat Dec 9th 11am-4pm qualifying; 4pm playoffs

What: TNA official launch party hosted by Madison Pinball and Scott D

How: First game free; unlimited entry for qualifying. Playoff on multiple games for the WPPR hunters.

Why: Because this game rocks and Scott D, Charlie, and Bug will all be coming to hang out, talk pinball, and likely school us all on some TNA.

Some great socializing with the team behind this game. 8 total pins to play and challenge each other to dollar games. Plenty of beer to be drank. Lots of fun to be had.

The better question is WHY not come to this???

#3 6 years ago
Quoted from FatPanda:

We have guests in town...might be kinda crazy to bring them along though, so it's still kind of up in the air if we will be there or not.

No worries. Easy enough to swing over for juts an hour. We bump first time players to the front of the cue, so if you show up at 2pm and others are lined up for a 2nd or 3rd replay, then you bump to the front of the line.

#5 6 years ago
Quoted from moonduckie78:

Please stream this event

sorry, I dont have any capability to Stream.

Jack Danger was going to come but he will be out of the country.
If anyone with gear would like to stream, then just reach out. Would be happy to have you.

#6 6 years ago

bump for eyes!

Would love to get a big crowd out to show team Spooky some love.

#8 6 years ago
Quoted from epthegeek:

Can I bring back your Godzilla that day? Parking-lot swap? If so, I'll probably stop by.

Sure. We could drop it off at my house since i Only live two blocks away.

#10 6 years ago

You coming Jay?

#12 6 years ago
Quoted from epthegeek:

Did you have a Godzilla to loan me, jerky?

Jay has 4 godzillas. Unfortunately they are all linked up in a new 4 way contraption when you try to start 20 multiballs at the same time. the ultimate stack!

#14 6 years ago

hope to see you there.

#16 6 years ago
Quoted from trilogybeer:

I plan on attending this event . First round of beers on you Hilton?

I got your first Doug!

#17 6 years ago

Bumpski for Tuesday.

#19 6 years ago
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

If only it were't 4 hours away. Sounds like fun.

Wish you could make it BK. I understand there is a big Party happening in your neck of the woods so I dont blame you for not making the trip down.
You are always welcome and it woudl be a pleasure to have you if you decide to make the trip.

#22 6 years ago
Quoted from yancy:

Is that a baby-friendly taproom? I seem to recall a tot or two at Mad Rollin'.

yes sir. Owners have a 3 month old and it is common to see lots of little ones.
Pretty family friendly place in general.

#24 6 years ago
Quoted from TomGWI:

I’m afraid to show up.

why?

#26 6 years ago
Quoted from TomGWI:

Co tournament director

you wont have to make any tough decisions at this one Tom

#27 6 years ago

daily bump.

Sounds like we are going to see a decent # of peopel and some new faces.

Really looking forward to this.

Ben Heck told me he is coming, but I have to buy him a beer (I guess he is a big deal now )

#29 6 years ago
Quoted from KingPinGames:

Yancy, let me know if you are planning to bring the baby with. I believe i will have my 17th month old and my (by that time) 4 week old with me too.
Hilton already told me that he would be more than happy to watch all of the kids by himself so we can all just play pinball.

that is BS and you know it. I am not responsible enough to even hold a baby.

#32 6 years ago
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

Looking forward to this!

you get 1 baby to hold

#34 6 years ago

Just to be clear, this is no longer a baby welcoming location. No crying and pooping allowed at Alt Brew

#37 6 years ago
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

Isn't Bjorne the Icelandic chick that sings weird?

If so... please bring her! I will hold her.

#39 6 years ago

Who likes to Party?

#40 6 years ago

8 days away!

#41 6 years ago

1 week from today!!!

#42 6 years ago

quick reminder of the details

Where: Alt Brew (Brewery with great local beer and food)
1808 Wright St
Madison, WI

When; Sat Dec 9th 11am-4pm qualifying; 4pm playoffs

What: TNA official launch party hosted by Madison Pinball and Scott D

How: First game free; unlimited entry for qualifying. Playoff on multiple games for the WPPR hunters.
Format : play as much as you want on TNA; highest 8 scores make the playoff. Standard Launch party format.

#45 6 years ago
Quoted from epthegeek:

Alt brew has several bar food options and would appreciate your patronage.

Yup, they have pizza, nachos, cheese board, snacks, and of course beer

All gluten free but tasty and we definately appreciate those thatsupport the estalishment.

#47 6 years ago
Quoted from cavalier88z24:

cool didnt know they had food. i like nacho's

I think their nachos are some of the best in town (I personally doe the chicken nachos with peppers). Addicting!

Only 5 days away now. I heard rumor of Spooky bringing some cool prizes.

Also, 1st and second place trophies should be here any day now.

#49 6 years ago
Quoted from FatPanda:

Sounds like a TON of fun and always nice to see the Spooky Team...

hope to see you and the family swing by, even if just for a bit.

#54 6 years ago
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

Bringing 2 older games for KingPin to make a back alley deal (does Alt have a back alley?!) ... will be bringing 4 of us to show how bad we are in a tourney even on games we make. (Translation: Bug can't be there to make us look good)
Gonna be fun! We'll bring some prizes and TnA goodness.

really looking forward to the good times!

Alt does in fact have a back alley. I suggest using the front side though less cameras up front...

#55 6 years ago

Is it Saturday yet?

#57 6 years ago
Quoted from Haymaker:

So is it like a tournament only or are the games just available to play casually?

8 pinball machines to play at this location, plus a Killer Queen Arcade game.

Our launch parties are more about the fun and ability to talk pinball with Scott, KingPin, team Spooky, Ben Heck, and all the other pinheads.

As for tournament, we only use TNA so all the other games are available for play during qualifying.

First game is free on TNA and you can replay as often as you like if competition is your thing. There will be a playoff for the top 8 for IFPA points, prizes, trophies, etc. We will also have some door prizes to give out throughout the event that are just random drawn or other fun stuff.

Launch parties are a good time that offer a little bit of everything for everyone

Hope you can make it up to play/sat hello.

#58 6 years ago

Worth mention that people should feel free to swing in to play all day or just for a few minutes to say hello and play a game. This is really a no stress sort of event and pretty casual

Also, just got word that my LIONMAN tokens will be arriving that day. If so then something else fun to hand out for every person that plays TNA or randomly throughout the day.

I got my overhead camera and coverter box in the mail yesterday. Fingers crossed that the bar will allow me to rig something up so we can try it out with TNA for the party???

#63 6 years ago
Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

Did someone say beer?

they even have some you would probably like...

#65 6 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

I've seen one of those at Ground Kontrol in Portland. Pretty impressive game and huge machine. Not many of them around either.
Good luck in the TNA tourney, wish i could go!!!

wish you could make it also!

KQ is a pretty fun game. I think there are around 30 of them out in the wild now. I highly suggest trying it out with a group of people if you get a chance. I was pretty anti-vid, but they thing is a blast to play! I think of is like the simplicity of mariobros meets Joust vid combined with the meta stratagy of some great euro board games.

#66 6 years ago

Someone on another forum asked about IFPA value so figured I would post here also.

1 game unlimited time qualifying (4% + 5% for the unlimited time = 9%)
Top 8 on 6 game PAPA style in round 1 has 2x value since 4 packs (48%)
Top 4 on 6 game PAPA style in round 2 has 2x value since 4 packs (48%)

Should grade out over 100% unless my calculation is wrong?

#67 6 years ago

Wednesday is 1 day closer to Saturday

#69 6 years ago
Quoted from twhtalm:

Planning on driving over from the Milwaukee area. There will be an extra seat in case anyone would like to tag along for a road trip.

very nice offer!

There is a milwaukee pinball academy facebook group. If you are not already a member it is a good group of people and may be the easiest way to find an additional rider.

Thanks for the support and coming over for the event!

#71 6 years ago
Quoted from yancy:

Looks like we're in. He's always chill in the car, but I apologize in advance to other competitors for any fussiness once the road nap wears off. Noise warfare!

lol. Luckily the place is big enough to find a spot to help the kiddos relax if the pinball excitement winds them up

I hear the new burbon barrel aged beer puts them to sleep also
(I dont have kids so dont judge me...)

#73 6 years ago
Quoted from yancy:

Totally. Just rub a little on their gums.

like father like son

#76 6 years ago

For those that FaceBook

https://www.facebook.com/events/142075099829189/

If you want to denote interested/coming it is appreciated. The bar is asking me how many may show up so they can staff appropriately. Always hard to predict these things but always nice to give them a heads up.

#78 6 years ago

Trophies, awards...

IMG_1337 (resized).JPGIMG_1337 (resized).JPG

#80 6 years ago

Not sure at this moment... First place? Or maybe we will do highest qualifying score for that one...

Waiting on a few other things to arrive. Will have a bunch of fun prizes for the event, just not sure what goes where at this time, till everything arrives.

In short, kick some TNA butt and you will win something for sure.

#83 6 years ago
Quoted from lpeters82:

What does one win for sucking it up at TNA?

A high five! If you are lucky... from doug!

#86 6 years ago
Quoted from benheck:

Hilton why does gluten free beer give me heartburn?
I'm not judging, just wondering the science.

more likely the nachos with jalapenos that we always eat after the 4th beer...

(if it is only their Gluten free beer then possible that your body just does not agree with their main base ingredients; sorghum would be my first guess??? I would experiment by drinking the guest beers only for a night, but still eat the food. Then go from there...)

#87 6 years ago

Final components to try and rig an overhead TV should arrive today (fingers crossed).
Hoping I can make the time before Saturday to have the gear set up.

#89 6 years ago
Quoted from chad:

Very impressive trophys!!

cheers. you going to make it up for the day?

#91 6 years ago
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

Am I disqualified from the tournament?

nope. You are for sure qualified for the tourney. That is part of the fun... see who can beat the designer, manufacturer, etc...

I think Yancy has to play 1 handed... or with baby strapped in the carrier...

#96 6 years ago
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

We have exactly 1 of these... guess we better bring it and give it away. Kayte has some other goodies packed too!
Whoa, almost got the Alice Cooper playfield in the shot. Boy... close one.

Sweet! TNA translite!!! Maybe a random LIONMAN number draw for tha one at the end of the day?

ALice pf looks amazing!

#97 6 years ago
Quoted from yancy:

Oops, spoke too soon. Change of plans. Still too traumatized to return to the scene of my MRP defeat.

bummer

#99 6 years ago
Quoted from onceler:

Does Alt Brew allow kids in the taproom (or wherever the pins are located)? My 8yr old keeps asking if we can go to Madison and play pinball on Saturday.

yup. Family friendly location.

In general, WI is very friendly to kids in bars so long as they are with parents. Pretty sure they are even allowed to drink with supervision. (WI LOVES beer if you did not know)

#101 6 years ago
Quoted from onceler:

Well then this FIB loves WI :p
My daughter and I are going to try to make the trek up north and say hi for a little bit on Saturday.

looking forward to it! 2 weeks in a row I get to see you

#102 6 years ago

Friday!!!

Means it is almost Saturday!

#104 6 years ago
Quoted from Trekie:

Thinking about it. What's the nearest cross street?

about 5min off the interstate. Head towards capital from East Waskington/H151 exit. Take a right on Wright st and go 1.5 big blocks. Alt Brew is on the left in what appears to be a light commercial grey building just north of MATC parking lot.

#106 6 years ago
Quoted from onceler:

I don't know if that is necessarily a good thing

lol

#108 6 years ago

cheers and hope to see you. Be sure to say hello so I can hopefully but the name/pinside name/avatar/face together.

#109 6 years ago

Success! I will swap i500 and TNA spots later tonight so we can use the overhead TV for the launch party

IMG_1338 (resized).JPGIMG_1338 (resized).JPG

#111 6 years ago
Quoted from trilogybeer:

Nice! can you see the overhead screen from an area where people would be hanging out ? ( like near the taps)

Overhead screen is readily visible from pinball area. Huge thans to YOPP for info on doing this!

#114 6 years ago
Quoted from TheNoTrashCougar:

TNA looks even more amazing when viewed on a monitor from directly overhead. Very excited to see this setup. Also, not sure if you knew, but TNA has HDMI that can be split and put on an external monitor. The HDMI also carries the uncompressed game audio as well!
--Scott

I had no idea. Granted this even stretched the limits of my tech capabilities

Quoted from iceman44:

Are you guys live streaming for us poor bastards that aren't there?

I dont have any streaming capabilities but if any streamers feel like making the trip up, then just LMK. We would be happy to host and get you in early to set up gear.

#119 6 years ago
Quoted from epthegeek:

Anybody coming tomorrow got a spare are-26-1200 I could buy off ya?

I have one of these in the stock if it will work...
http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=1176

Will that work for you? I dont want the cash > just have a backup mailed to me later so i can put it back in stock.

#120 6 years ago

We are live!

What a GREAT day! Thanks very much to everyone that came out. 0ver 50 people and 44 players. Some very exciting games, lots of great company, and some great conversation!

This is one of the most fun days I have had in a long time. Honestly my sides hurt from laughing.

I really appreciate the support from all and some of you drove quite a ways!

Thanks to Scott and team Spooky also! I know lots of people really enjoyed meeting you guys and chatting. Hope we can do it for the next game!
