The breaker board is an awesome idea, but wondering if it would look better with all slots populated with breakers?

Not done yet. I bought wrong type just got six for it.

"The power on will be one of the breakers. I will spend more on the breakers then I did on the panel!"

If it was my game to code or alter it I would figure out a way to connect solenoids to the other 5 breakers and to trip them mechanicaly. When a reactor explodes they tripped off and you had to reset them by hand I would be all over that idea. Make that part of the game would just be fun. Kill power to auto launch, vuk, bumper etc...

Not sure if I need to paint the outer frame gray or leave it black?

Maybe depends on the cabinet art.

It's a fun idea. I know a lot of players hate stuff like action buttons where they have to take their hands off the flippers for a moment, but I like it. I think it plays into the very physical nature of pinball and it makes sense to challenge the player with some physical movement for risk/reward scenarios.

I'm not sure how you'd hook up lighting to the circuit breakers, but that could be fun in addition to particular coils. Although think to yourself, why would anyone want to turn the pop bumper back on if it's disabled with the breaker? It makes the game easier with it off. Now turning off flipper hold coils with the breaker.... Maybe wire it up to the grid panel to disable the switches that you need to hit to start a reactor.

I was thinking the same thing.

Love this! It would look awesome if you added some LEDs to that breaker door!

The killing reactor switches would be the way to go. That is a great idea and would be fun to reset them with the rocker switch after each one blows up. Great idea Sir!

I agree! Small led style red and green lights. Red off green on. Also a great idea!

Attempting scale up and colored in. Never went this big in my life on scale. Oofa

Painted it will look 100 percent better. I just wanted to see if I was happy with where I am headed. I am...I never used colored coal, so this was my first experience. The lightning is not as vibrant in this drawing. The backglass colors are very unique and trying to have artwork fhat kinda works! The coal is hard to work with and it looks off. I know her painting skills will do what I am trying to go for. I gave her sketches on Star Trek that were black and white. I need to stick to that as she is awesome at it. This just looks so funky bad. I have to fix scale on a tower and line out flames, but the other side is mostly drawn out. I am trying a soldier in radiation suit, still messing with it for backbox. Not sure its staying...

Very impressive work- I’m excited to see the completed game. Will you bring this to a show once you’re finished?

I will bring to Allentown pinfest if this covid thing is in a better place. My son is high risk with astma so I have to be carefull. Also depends on the artist. I give her no timeline (you never rush an artist). I should be giving her the cabinet next weekend. She took a few months on Star Trek, but she did cabinet and playfield. If its back and put together and I feel ok going to a show it will be there in the summer if they have pinfest this year.

but I understand this is a different situation. Looks like you are having fun.

The cabinet is going to have same artwork on the sides. The back box and front of coin door are brick layers with a simple addition to the symbol with rings. I really like the look. Under it will be a old style master electrical gate switch. I also stole from a british military insignia that I had on my jacket growing up. “Who dares wins” is the moto, I really dug that in highschool and its a simple but true saying. The inner art blades are getting painted and its hard with pencil, but its earth blowing up with radiation streaks going outward. The text is being put inside a electrical hazard symbol of “to save the planet, you must destroy it first. Finishing up some drawings and the cabinet is ready to go to artist. I know she is going to do a great job and I look forward to seeing it with all the artwork, at that point hopefully you will see what I saw in my head.

Loganpinball "Who Dares Wins" is the motto for the British SAS, in case you didn't know. There is an old movie about the SAS with the same title. It's pretty good but it's been a long time since I've seen it I love your ideas and am following to see how it turns out a big thumbs up to your creativity

Loganpinball You're doing an interesting job for sure here! I'm about to start a course in learning how to weld so I'm amazed by your skills!
Happy I could inspire you a little in your crazy work of changing this TNA!

Had one too a year ago but sold it to buy other pins as it didn't earn at all at our locations sadly enough
Do miss it now and than but I can't keep them all!

I posted this in Star Trek posts, but spend the money and get a good welding helmet. For years I had a cheap one and had no idea how much a better helmet is. These pictures are through the helmets. The lincoln helmet was $150 us and worth every penny, you can see!

Looking good so far. Before everything is finalized, I wanted to suggest a mod to this mod. Considerations need to be given for ... adding fiber optic tube lighting on ramp, similar to what was seen on Tron LE’s. That game used 2 light cannons under the playfield, one for each ramp. Fiber optic tubing was tied to outside of plastic ramps. Besides the cool color changing, it is programmable by nerds like you and Scot. Talk about impact, add fo mod to the ramp mod and tie new lighting effects into the existing light show. This would probably bring tears. This is the kind of mod that requires utilizing some playfield through holes and finding real estate under the playfield.

I like that idea alot. I dont think the code is open source for liability reasons. So, it would have to be stand alone system. I agree that it would look amazing if done right. I will put it in my figure out pile!

I really appreciate working with an artist that can see my drawings and ideas and just crush it. These are the mock ups she just sent over. She added the cooling towers. No matter how I drew them they just looked off, she however did not have the same problem and put them in. These mock ups show where I was trying to go with it and it will be great to post it when its together. I love this part of the hobby!

Wow, looks amazing, though there’s a big disconnect between the side art and the front/backbox. Unless I’m missing something?

If that’s the final front art, Definitely keep the black border for the coin door with that art.

The bricks are meant to be walls. One with circuit breakers the other with a expanded radiation warning and a master switch. The border of coin door will stay black. I think when everything is put together it will make sense.

#127 3 years ago

That looks freaking awesome!

Inner art and back panel. She has to shrink the artwork on panel, but I think it will look good. I will try to 3d print a half globe that will be centered in that artblade right at the hingebolt. Idealy I want to have it light up when a reactor blows.

I see the same disconnect that you see. I think to help tie it together, it would have looked good to have the brick wrap slightly around the sides and have it look like the wall had been broken down and crumbling (maybe the first 6 inches or so) and then the art on the side would look like what is in the distance outside past the wall. Maybe have the same broken brick wall effect at the back 6 inches as well which would make it look like you are looking through a gaping hole to the outside and help carry the brick look up to the sides of the head.

But the art looks AMAZING!! I'm sure it will look great all together regardless. Just an idea to tie the side and the front together.

Thanks again perfect solution. I am going with that a bit further now. I think I am replacing the backglass now. Trying a exploding brick wall with flying bricks and fire eminating from a exploding turbine that spun out of control. My drawing shows the concept, but the fire and other details will look much better painted. The drawback being the backglass lighting might take a bit of twaeking. I am thinkng a small shadow box with lights on outside of painting. Not sure, but I want to try and figure out this new backglass.

Hard to see again with pencil, but see the magneto and electrical picture as part of the center behind bricks. The bright blue electrical streamers will look closely like that picture shooting out from magneto. Third drawing....

I was directed towards buying an ipad pro and using procreate software to try and create a printable backglass translite. I am still learning the brushes and software and wow is this amazing. I just kept painting and changing brushes to try and have a core meltdown picture. This is a whole new level of fun. I have a surface pro to code, but microsofts screens and pens (at least what I have) are not great. This apple pencil 2 is just amazing.

Procreate is truly amazing software from a cool small company out of Tasmania.

The app really opens up once you purchase some pro brushes.

Check these out, the “nebula” brushes may work well for your project. https://creativemarket.com/StudioDenmark/5992272-Galaxy-Brushes-for-Procreate#fullscreen

I am trying to replace the strobe with a shadow box. If it looks good I will have strobe lights backlighting it. The panel will be yellow with two radiation symbols and working on texts. Open to any other wording so feel free to throw some alternatives. Also going to have artist paint the box. Not done. Just messing with it overall.
I wanted to see this together, its rough and off center. Not sold on it?

I am such a moran that I have to draw on paper first. The tablet is amazing, but I cant just sit down and sketch like I can on paper and it makes no sense. I am trying this as backglass. I drew it, took picture of it and layered it in program. I am copying myself....

This is an awesome project. Agree 100% percent with you about the cabinet just looking wrong.

But the machine itself is SUPER AWESOME! Love T.N.A.!!

Ha! At first glance (on phone) I thought to myself " I thought this was TNA, not TMNT". But upon zooming in, I could see what they actually are... Lol

At a quick glance though, I swear I saw ninja turtles!

I am going to put you on a retainer.. I see it too now! Snow camo and nuclear winter background coming up next. Thank you Sir. Plus snow camo colors will go well with the rest.
