Reviving this thread. Found Kickback Cafe on the google and decided to stop in today because I wanted to venture out of the house(I mainly just do stick time at local rinks nowadays). First time driving in that area of Pittsburgh. It's a very busy area with street parking only from what I could tell. Parking free on Sundays so that was good. I almost kept driving and about to return home but a spot opened up very close to the Cafe. Traffic is heavy in that area and there are lots of buildings, side streets and places to hide if a person were looking to cause trouble for you. I attached the Spot Crime map of the area if anyone cares.
It's very nice inside, compact but clean and the Coffee selections are vast and it's not super pricey. The gentleman working the counter was very nice and made me feel comfortable being there. (context: My stress/anxiety level was extremely high from the moment I arrived on the street, parked, walked in building) So if the owners are on here, thanks for picking a great employee.
Games are operated by tokens that are behind the counter in tiny cups. Looks like 5 dollars per cup is the norm. Game prices range from 1-4 tokens with the new games being 4 tokens(1$). That's the highest price game and there are about 23 in the Cafe. Upstairs are mostly older games with the exception of Rush in the middle of it all. Downstairs are the newer games. It's a smaller place but you don't feel pinned in even though there is only one entrance and exit that I could see. Upstairs was pretty roomy but I was the only one up there today. If I go back it will be on a Sunday again and early like today. They opened at 1000. There were only 2 games inoperative. Kiss and Monaco were out of order. Doodle Bug was off for whatever reason.
I've attached pictures of their current lineup and was told the games are rotated. There was a folded Batman, next to World Cup Soccer downstairs, that they were getting ready to set up so this corroborates the story.
The games are well taken care of and everything worked on every one I played. The first digit of Viking is out but it didn't bother me.
I played most of them at least once.
The 3 newer games that I played multiple times were Cactus Canyon Remake, Halloween CE, and Guns n Roses LE. They held my interest the most and could see myself owning them. This isn't a game review but I definitely have a type of pinball game that resonates with me over others. Guns N Roses surprised me to the point I'm doing some measuring in the basement to see if I can squeeze one more in. haha. I, personally, would pick the Ultraman CE over the Halloween but would gladly own that Spooky title and The Cactus Canyon remake by CGC. I'd happily play them all occasionally on location though. Walking Dead was pretty fun as well.
Anyway, Kickback Cafe is a great place if you happen to be in Pittsburgh area. https://www.kickbackpgh.com/ 4326 Butler St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201
