If it never goes down (like others have mentioned, the super skill shot would be an easy test), then I would make sure the post isn't binding up in the hole, and that the coil plunger moves freely (and that the coil is connected and working). I had a machine (my Star Wars I think?) where the coil bracket was slightly bent, making the post tight against one side of the hole, and it eventually stuck. In that case, a quick bend of the bracket fixed it and it's been fine since. Good luck and let us know what you find.
