Hello everyone! I recently noticed my left flipper started having issues. It doesn't always respond when the left flipper button is depressed. Sometimes I need to press it soundly before getting it ready for the ball. I'm relatively new to pinball so please excuse my lack of experience with this common issue. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Kevin

Kevin - welcome to pinball , you need to find Pinwiki.com . all your answers are there !

A good place to start would be the flipper button cabinet switch. It may be loose, needs adjustment, replaced or filed down for better contact. You will need a points file like this. Marco Specialties sells them. The flipper button may be worn down where it contacts the switch and needs replaced.

Tenacious T and mikatt11,

Thank you both for the helpful information. I will look into both pinwiki and the flipper button cabinet switch.

Flipper button contacts should be gold point contacts and shouldn't be filed, just cleaned.
Flippers are driven via the Solid State Flipper Board (SSFB).
Check the SSFB (inside the cabinet at the left) for bad solder joints.

Inkochnito is correct.I thought the cabinet switches were tungsten high voltage contacts. Sorry about that.

A business card rubbed a few times in between the contacts will clean it well

Thanks everyone! I'll let you all know how it works out.

Business card between contacts saves the day! Left Flipper is back to full strength and reaction time. I didn't see any dirt or black stuff rub onto the card, but it seems to have worked. Thanks again to all of you. Let me know if there is a way to "like" your posts or give some kind of credit.

Wait a minute there ! The picture of that flipper button switch tells me the business card trick could not of done anything. That's why you saw nothing on the card . That's a micro switch DE used on a few games . Only way to fix that switch is to replace it . You must have moved the arm on the switch enough to make work again . It wasn't the card trick !

I'm glad you checked my pics. Looks like I have some more work. I remember seeing these switches in my old tmnt arcade cab. Thanks Tenacious.
