For anyone who hasn’t tried Titan’s 2 SMD fluted LEDs, I would HIGHLY recommend them. When I first played Attack from Mars Remake I wanted to find out what type of warm white LEDs CGC was using. I found out they were 2 SMD fluted LEDs from Nifty. I was going to order some but found out they used a proprietary base and later on Nifty went out of business.

I bought a set of warm whites for my Police Force shop job. Compared to the existing Titan bullet LEDs used in the top half of the playfield, the difference is big. To me they look JUST like incandescents as far as temperature, have great horizontal light spread that causes the ball to cast a shadow, and are of course brighter!

Who else had used these?

Right, but to be fair these LEDs have different lenses. Not saying one is better over the other, just sharing my experience.

Oh sorry, I didn't see those on Comet's site. I just search for "fluted" and found these. Symantics.

Yeah, I love these. Medieval Madness looks fantastic as well.

I replaced all the Titan single LED bullet domes in my Police Force with these. You almost can’t believe the difference. The horizontal light spread helps to reduce hotspots and more evenly light the artwork. New on left, old on right.

Dark photo of all bulbs replaced. This is what the game actually looks like!

Updating this thread nearly a year later, but this time I'm converting my White Water from single LED frosted to these. Starting with the backbox, I replaced 22 of the 34 bulbs so far as that's all the 555 bulbs I have at the moment. Will order more today to complete the backbox and do the playfield.

So far the difference is still huge, even though the single SMD frosted bulbs are brighter than the bullet domes I took out of Police Force. The same bullet domes are used on the playfield, with uncapped SMD bulbs under the canyon plastics.

Before:

After doing the top half of the backbox:

The after photo looks dimmer on bottom due to exposure being lower, which highlights the difference pretty well.

I also added some more under the left canyon and slingshot. The slingshot ones are so bright you can see the reflection in the insanity falls ramp.

I was also cleaning the glass and noticed the cool lenticular effect cast on the foam.

I took out the single SMD bulb from the left bumper and replaced it. This really helps light up the playfield around the bumper itself vs. The ones pointing straight up on the right.
