Hi all- I recently got back into the hobby and picked up a used machine that had new Titan Silicone rubbers on it. I’m not too familiar with these rubbers but they seem to be very “grippy” and inconsistent to me. Sometime the transition from the in lane to the flipper is slowed down drastically, to the point where it throws my timing off. Other times it blasts right through. When I owned machines in the past I typically just used black rubbers and don’t remember this happening. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be that they are just new and need to be broken in or is this expected? Thanks.

I have recently switched over to perfect play on all my games and love them. They feel the most like regular old school rubber. I think most people have moved away from old black rubber because of the mess they make in games.

I have found this exact problem with Superbands, but not Titan.

My Titan's felt really grippy after installing them. They've chilled out a bit since, but are still more grippy than the factory black rubber.

I needed Cliffy ball guides in my Pinbot and Bride of Pinbot to get consistent ball transition in the return lanes regardless of the rubber choice. I ditched super bands on both those machines in favor of the standard red rubber rings from Marcos.

I’m dabbling with low bounce and standard Titan flipper rings in my Fathom, but don’t have much insight yet.

This is why I never clean the flipper rubbers from Titan. Once they get dirty they lose that tackiness.

I noticed that I was getting some ball hop off the transition as well so I adjusted the lane guide and it seems a bit more consistent.
