Working on a lah ppb board. Q4 was suspected in testing so put in a new tip36c. I am getting same results in testing it. Have not put back in game yet but when black lead is on left leg red lead is on right leg, I get open reading. Could something else giving me the false reading or do I have a bad new transistor?

Thank you Inkochnito board is out of the game. This transistor is the only one that reads this way. So if the diode is bad that could cause a shorted reading on the transistor?

Quoted from DumbAss:

The above is good advice. It works for transistors in ISOLATION. If you are testing a transistor in circuit results may vary.

This is in circuit and did the above way of testing but this new one is the only one that shows open from black to left leg red on right
Just hate to take it out since I made it pretty lol

Right on. I will have to track down the path and see what I can test. Appreciate the feedback guys

Quoted from Inkochnito:

Replace the TIP36C transistor.
Also check the coil for which it is for.
I once had a Gun 'n Roses with a bad transistor which blew right away after staring one game.
It turned out to be a loose diode on the shooter coil.
A bad or loose diode can cause this on your newly installed transistor.

this is a brand new one put in. I tested before putting the board back in the game.
