I'm glad you posted this, thanks! Saved me from going crazy. I had an intermittent problem with my firepower where one row of lamps was stuck on, then not stuck the next game, & all ok, then a different row stuck on for a while, then ok, then started blowing fuses sometimes, Finally one row stayed stuck on, it seemed like it could be a difficult problem to locate as it was not isolated to one row of lamps & intermittent.

I did a google search & looked a multiple possibilities before even trying to locate the problem, glad I did, then after reading this & having a look at mine, I discovered my earth braid was poised ready to make/break contact the back of a lamp socket (the game over lamps socket) to cause trouble. Of course it was the lamp socket associated with the lamp row & column that were playing up.would never have suspected this, even though it seems obvious (once you know).
