Next time you're in the area...!

It's going to be interesting for me since I really pulled together most of my collection before I had the space so after a quick check of each of these games before I bought them I really have never played most of them. I think out of my entire collection, Tron and Monster Bash are the only two I've actually played.

OK....so as I predicted we probably slid a day. Lots of trimming done, but probably at least another day of it, so paint may not be till Saturday or Monday. But so close...so very close...

    Cat inspections ongoing.

Can I ask why you put the outlets (or as Slippery Pete would say - the "Holes") so high?

That's one of the "pinball" walls. I put them at that height so you wouldn't have power cords from the machines hanging down in sight. Looks better and keeps them out of prying kitten teeth.

I've got the whole house on a surge protector at the panel so I will be plugging machines right into the plug mold.

    Greg,

I didn't know you were going to do surge panels. I would have recommended getting metered ones. You can monitor power consumption and amperage per circuit right on the display of the panel.

I'm an IT guy, I know all about metered PDUs

When we had our generator installed we had a surge suppressor put in on the main breaker. These plug molds each go to their own breaker on that panel. For my purposes it's sufficient I think.
Now if I had the room that YOUR basement has....

Good idea! Mine all go down to surge protectors which are right in kitty strike zone.

    #262 10 years ago

Putting the outlets up like that also helps if God forbid you have a flood. Don't ask me how I know this

    LOL, nope

We had our outlets in the basement placed about 3 feet off the floor. My wife wondered why I asked them to do that, and the guy that did the electric was a little confused, but when our basement flooded, it became crystal clear that it was a good idea.

Lol that basement is probably a year or 2 from being finished. So far quotes to finished it have ranged from 74,000 to 110k

How are you gonna lay linoleum with all those machines in there?

    #271 10 years ago

Yep. But my GC is as motivated as I am to get this done. Was just told that the crew is going to come back tomorrow as well. Paint on monday or bust!

    Parquet wood too, right?

Crew of 5 showed up, spent most of the day...!

    #275 10 years ago

So as things stand, they got a lot of the details done today. Tomorrow they are going to sand. Monday still sounds like paint, so it's going to be a pinball filled holiday!

Now I gotta figure out if I have all the right legs and bolts and things....

BTW, I vote for powder coating the ductwork lime green.

    Hush you.

    #281 10 years ago

My predictions are running at a 90% accuracy. That makes powder coating a pretty good possibility. Okay, maybe not lime green.

    #282 10 years ago

    Easily done!!!

    #283 10 years ago

    That's what I'm talkin' 'bout.

    Woohoo..

    #284 10 years ago

    *sigh* another few days gone....

Painter came this morning. The spackle still hadn't set from Saturday 100%. I can't disagree, it's been brutally humid lately, and I don't want him laying paint down over wet spackle, but man it stinks.

    #285 10 years ago

Maybe it was meant to be. Now you can put that on the back burner and enjoy the Holidays

    #286 10 years ago

    I guess this is progress?

Came home and yeah, the spackle is still wet. Broke out the dehumidifier so let's see what happens!

Spackle crew should have left appropriate hardware to dry out the compound. They normally leave a space heater in the room with a strong fan that will keep warm air moving around the room and dry it out. Obviously, they have to come back anyway, since wet spackle hasn't been finish sanded yet.

    #288 10 years ago

Yep, we are on good track. And when I got home the spackle was indeed still not set, but two days of 85-100% humidity would do it. It wasn't hot enough that we turned the AC on in the house. So last night we broke out the dehumidifier and some air handling equipment and everything was nicely set this morning.

Just waiting for the update on what I get to go home to...still hoping for a woz unboxing....

    #289 10 years ago

Set compound still needs to be finish sanded before priming can begin. And primer/paint will take a bit. That stuff can't be rushed.

    #290 10 years ago

I hope you waited for that epoxy floor to dry before you laid down those tarps!

    Merry Christmas!

    #291 10 years ago

8 AM day after xmas, the crew is here already...!

    #292 10 years ago

Much better. The crew multiplied from one to three

I swear I'm going to be playing pinball today or tomorrow!

Any particular reason you didn't have the ductwork primed or are you planning to have that done?

    #294 10 years ago

Leaving it exposed. We kept the sheetrock tight to the ceiling and left it exposed to give more headroom and to add to the "it's a basement" or "quasi-industrial" look. Later we may paint it a contrasting color contrary to the advice I was given to powdercoat it

    #295 10 years ago

    This is really looking great!

    #296 10 years ago

They did some final sanding this morning. Lots of vacuuming afterwards and now (THANKFULLY!) I only hear two things from the basement:

    Blaring salsa music
    and brushstrokes

And at least they took some containment measures for the dust...

I swear there will be pinball sounds coming up from that room in the next 36 hours....

I'll bring over the rattle cans of lime-green.

    #298 10 years ago

    You most certainly will not!

Crew is still here...busy busy busy!

I see color going on the walls, but not sure how far they will go today.

    #299 10 years ago

Don't just stand there, pick up a roller!

    #300 10 years ago

If I see one nick on those newly painted walls from being in a hurry to set up your pins your in BIG trouble mister.
