Nothing too new. Electrical rough is done for now. I'm in a holding pattern until next week. We have our inspections lined up for Tues, Wed, Thurs.

And I am choosing to ignore the stud and NJ commentary...too many easy ways that can go sideways!

And for those of you who know me, yes, the cat is making her first appearance in this thread in the pics above.

I see lots of space for pins. Woohoo!

    Good call!

    Yeah, I know...
After tomorrow we are going to have to move, by my count this is what's going to need to come from storage:

    Xenon
    Centaur 2
    Metallica
    T3
    Paragon
    BSD (hopefully)

And we have one vid from my first floor to move
    Possibly Tron from upstairs
    Possibly Funhouse from upstairs

Lastly, I may have a WOZ by then too...

Guess I'm buying pizza for the party...hopefully pre-thanksgiving!

All has been quiet....this week has been a lot of unexciting stuff.

    Tuesday was our plumbing inspection.
    Yesterday was building inspection.
Last night the sheetrockers were over measuring.
    Today is electrical inspection.

    Tomorrow should be insulation...

Next week should be insulation inspection then we get some walls!

Some last pictures of the basement as it is today...

I'll warn you now, before the rockers show up. If something doesn't need to be in the basement, get it out.

    Don't say I didn't tell you.

    #165 10 years ago

What's with the flex-line poking out the window in that last picture?

Once the drywall is up it'll make an unbelievable difference to how you see the space. Fun times!

YEP dust will be in places you will find years later!

    #168 10 years ago

TURN OFF YOUR HVAC before the sheetrockers start - the dust will definitely destroy your filter and possibly your entire system. At the least disengage your basement's return.

    Quoted from 1967Firebird:

That and they'll be really pissed when they have to work around things.

Make sure to turn the furnace off when they sand.

Sage advice. At minimum, if you can't turn it off or isolate it, install a layer of filter floss to the outside of all the cold air return grills.

Yep, advice well taken! We had major construction in the house a few years back and the crew got an A for effort in containment attempts, but I fully expected to look like the dust bowl came to roost here.

HVAC will definitely be off. At least we only have one opening between the basement and rest of the house, so we hopefully can corral as much as possible.

It's the dryer vent. It was right next to the dryer before we moved it. It's temporarily rigged now, but it's getting replaced with a rigid one in-wall before the insulation crew comes.

Came home to a very nice surprise! Well not really a surprise, but still...

Amazing to see what a difference this makes. Starting to be able to see walls. Even more amazing is the sound deadening. Planned to insulate the ceiling purely for noise reasons since noisy pinballs make unhappy people upstairs.

Wife and I were standing in the middle of the basement and it was almost surreal. It was dead silent.

But a minute later the spell was broken when the furnace kicked on, but still, dramatic difference!

So now we have some plumbing tomorrow morning. Sheetrock delivery for Monday. Insulation inspection Tuesday. Sheetrock hopefully wednesday...

Looks like, fingers crossed, I will have a finished basement by turkey day!

Looks great and it's coming out faster than most. If you need help moving items I am available

    #177 10 years ago

As always, thanks for the positive feedback! It's coming out quickly which is great...but for those of you who don't know me, among other hats I wear, I negotiate contracts and project manage so I drive people hard if I'm motivated

Looking forward to the grand opening.

BTW, I say you powder coat all your exposed ductwork.

I'm sure the powder coat powers that be would love that....

I'm thinking about just powder coating the cat instead.

Looking really cool! That sure is a ton of work and I bet its going to look fantastic when completed.

    #181 10 years ago

    Well..plumbers here at 9 AM on a saturday...that's a good thing!

No water in the house temporarily...not so good. But small price to pay!

Bah, and I'm shoveling rocks and doing landscaping! I'm too old for this shite!

    #183 10 years ago

This is great to follow. Makes me want to build a gameroom!

    #184 10 years ago

He got me motivated to have mine being done right now ( well that and I have run out of room with 2 new pins coming in '14).

    #185 10 years ago

I've been going through the same process for the past two years. My carpeting guy was supposed to be here today but had an accident while coming home from hunting last night. It will be nice to finally have a functioning basement and game room. I wish we didn't have so many toys...literally. My twins are already hogging all the basement space with their toys.

    #186 10 years ago

So far it's moving along. We picked up the last of the light fixtures today.

The best part so far? I took my tumbler and tucked it into the little sump room. No door on it yet, but it's got insulation in the walls.
Before I used to only be able to tumble when nobody was home because no matter where I put it you could hear it anywhere in the house. Now it's been on all day and nobody even knew it!

    #188 10 years ago

Hey all...finally made it downstairs today....
Unfortunately with me being out of things the last few days things have been a little rough, but still moving along. My wife has keeping the whip cracking as best as possible.

sheet rock is mostly done. Spacke crew is done.
Monday we are set for doors and trim and hopefully by next weekend everything should be buttoned up!

    #191 10 years ago

Looks great man. We just remodeled our kitchen and the sheet rock just seemed to take forever! Once it is done though you will be happy. Make sure your furnace is turned off when they are sanding.

    #192 10 years ago

What no sound proof sheet rock?Just kidding. You don't know me but I have been following looks great. Hope your feeling better.

That's the plan. Gotta get through tomorrow first. 25 people coming for dinner.
I'll grab Brian for the details.

    #195 10 years ago

I'm flexible. Whenever you guys wanna roll I'm good.

    #196 10 years ago

OK...spoke to Jen earlier today. She and Jack both won't be there, so it may be a little bit of pick up and run home. Personally I'd say to try to meet up by my house around 8ish if that works?

Go grab this thing, get it into my basement and, if you fine gentlemen have a few minutes, maybe lend some snooping power to assist me with a Paragon issue?

Not sure yet if I will be able to drive myself, so if not, I may ask whoever is driving my truck to stop for coffee first!

    #197 10 years ago

    Chugging along...
    Doors and trim started today!
