Playfield plastics----
Hey everyone, trying to get a real number of people that would be interested in TF plastic sets. I am working with a very reliable source that is interested in doing a run but we need to know who would be seriously interested. Not a commitment, but if you are serious about getting a set, let me know. Pricing would be based on the number of people interested.
My set is shot, so I am pursuing this hard.

burningman please add me to the list for a set of plastics
Quoted from Cheddar:Just got mine today. Needs some tweaking but what can you expect after shipping it from the East coast.
Looks to be in really nice shape. Congrat's on the pick up.
BG has flaking in the red but great otherwise. Tube Time plastic looks great but is broken at the lower left where it connects to the post

Very common problem, same on mine.
Love to see someone make a new repro plastics set.

Me too. I'm in
broke down and ordered a bgresto backglass for mine. I have flaking in the red and I decided it bothered me. Looking forward to adding a nice BG to a nice cab and playfield.
Quoted from TechnicalSteam:My BG Resto Backglass was amazing. Had to wait 3 months but well worth it.
I think I saw a pic of it on pinside right? That was what pushed me over the edge. And now that the art is done mine should be faster
Quoted from Cheddar:Having a strange issue. My TF is giving too much time. A lit inlane gives 15 seconds and an unlit inlane gives 10.
Anybody had an issue like this?
Found it and it's something I've never seen before. The header pins on the switch rows had been reflowed and caused this:2018-02-06 07.38.37 (resized).jpg

Just reading you guys convinced me to order one as well... cannot wait. But then my TF is in 1000 pieces right now anyway
Guys...
I'm currently restoring my Time Fantasy which came without display boards nor flat cables. I have harvested a spare Alien Poker for these parts, but I ran into a problem and I also have a question. I hope somebody can help.
The problem: due to the lay-out of the backglass one of the flat cables from the Alien Poker is too short (display 3). Before I try to find and order a longer flat cable: can somebody please check whether I'm trying to put things back correctly?

The question: as there are no indications on the backglass, am I putting the players correctly? Or should 2 and 3 switch places?

Thanks!!!
I've got the BG in and didn't damage the old one getting the trim off. Does anyone need a glass? It has significant flaking in the red and orange.

I just joined the tripping club a few days ago, with a nice project pickup. Cheddar your backglass might actually be better than this one... I mean your old would only need touchup of two colors instead of like, all of them ha ha. Let me know what you need for it?

Still, for a cheap pickup of a non-working rare game that I got 100% playing in a couple hours, can't complain. Playfield touchup could be a beast though.
I am shocked at how fast this thing is though, and not even waxed! Surprisingly good.
Oh and whose face is up in the top right corner? Looks kinda Einstein-y, but I presume someone hid themselves? Apparently the artist hid himself in Warlok's very similar backglass - and the faces don't look the same to me.

Both were designed by Seamus McLaughlin. At first I didn't really like the art package on neither game, but they actually grew on me and now I think they are about as crazy as an art package can get. I try to imagine what happened in the Williams director's office, back in those days. Remember business was really bad. Yet this guy came up and threw in the idea of theming the game with psychedelic mushrooms, a rainbow and weird looking snails. "Oh yes, brilliant! Let's do that!". Could have been a good laugh, but it actually happened. I find this intriguing and this is exactly why I love this era in pinball history. I hope that one day one of these guys will publish his memoires...
Agreed... I loved the game and art from the first time I saw and played one at another collector's house. I only later learned it was rare, and even later still about its development. As I said in my pickup thread,
"...after learning about this game's development, it's pretty astounding. God bless the lunatics at Williams: "Fuuuu they're giving us two weeks to design a game or else the factory is shutting down? What the eff man, how we gonna do that?" *takes a drag of chemical inspiration* "OOOOooohhhhhhhh!"
The Firepower sounds are just icing on the cake. And the hidden, uh, element under the time tube plastic is just hilarious ha ha. Borrows unique elements of two other rare 1983 titles, Joust and Rat Race. And programmed in two weeks!? Amazing.
Oh and BTW g94 I had followed your resto thread some even before my find turned up - your work is astounding! Very informative and inspirational... thank you for sharing!
Gonna be a while before I can give the playfield the full resto TLC it needs and deserves, so meanwhile I lightly touched up what I could, waxed it up, and shopped it with some post color experiments. Even in its rough-surface condition, this game is astoundingly, deceptively fast at times.
Anyway, for my experiments I tried to color-match the posts to the plastic artwork: look for greens to match the vines, purples to match other elements, and blues in the slings over the bubbles.
But my favorite experiment is the black flippers to blend into the outlanes, with white "bubble" rubbers for contrast. The white rubber actually reflects some of the surrounding color, so it takes a matching blue hue when the game is on. Personally I'm thrilled with how it turned out and love the look and effect, so thought I would share the idea.

David Crosby, folks. It's David Crosby...
david-crosby-sized (resized).jpgI like this @goingincirclez. For my restoration I preferred to stick as close to original as possible, but it's true that the theme invites you to go crazy with colours. I saw some photos once of a TF where all targets had different colours, very nice.
Your playfield will need some love at some point. I have scanned mine (which was in much better shape) before restoring it. Just give me a sign if you ever need them to reproduce your missing artwork.
g94 Thanks! Yeah, I like trying to enhance games but with an eye toward balance... it's easy to go overboard. I thought about changing the inlane dividers as I've seen a couple, but then the yellow dividers match the "flower stems" below. Same with the targets, red matching the flowers.
Actually the targets remind me: when I got this game some didn't work and/or had been replaced with mismatched parts. One was a bullseye pattern of red & blue rings on a white face, placed in the red area. I realized this closely matched the "clock seeds" in the artwork, so I moved that lone target into the time tube. Not sure I truly like it or not but it makes some sense and the petal targets are all red again
I would LOVE to see your PF scans! I wonder if they would be any use to the Hardtop guys? I'd really love to see one of those for this game but I think it's so rare that demand would be too low to justify all the work on their end, and where would they get a good playfield to start with? Originals are beat and nice ones are too prized. OTOH, a cleaned scan might be enough to start from "someday".
Failing a hardtop, I plan to paint everything I can. I just restored a wood-worn Bad Cats playfield by hand so after that anything seems possible (except the dithering, ha).
Oh and BTW I love the avatar. Still my favorite movie
I scanned the playfield before removing Mylar. Since the Mylar was yellowed and heavily cracked I doubt the scans would be useful as a basis for a hardtop. They have a lot of detail though and were helpful to recreate missing artwork (that was the only purpose).
@goingincirclez: send me your email address via pm and I'll send you the files.

Too bad I totally forgot to make new scans once my playfield was restored...
I know your Bad Cats project, I've favourited and enjoyed following the thread since day 1
Quoted from TechnicalSteam:Seeing double
What i find most amazing is not that you have 2 or 3 of them
but the two pictured are both in fairly nice condition
especially the Playfields, as most that i have seen have blown out PFs.
Ok, where can I find just the tube time plastic? Please tell me someone has remade just that plastic!
I've made plastic protectors for my TF. I can send you the vector file if you want to have them lasercut.

I also worked out a fix for my broken tube plastic, described here: http://bit.ly/2Rpox0K
I'm thinking of doing a batch of Plastic sets for Time Fantasy. Anyone interested? Going to see if its something we can do.
I'm not entirely sure if it's taboo to do a hobbyist set or not and make them available for this game.
