Love the blue colors

I got a light baffle kit from @wolffcub. Really like how concentrated it keeps the lighting in the circles.

A few anomalies with lighting happened as I’m wrapping things up.
1st I lost the amber E on the Xenon Bonus circle of the playfield. Ended up needing to replace the surface mount transistors at Q44 with a traditional 2N5060.

After I got that back I noticed a burning smell while the game was on. After sniffing and feeling around I found that Q16 on the light board and chips U1 &U2 were blistering hot!!!

I found that Q16 drives the “Ball in Play” lights on the back box. I checked the lights and one of the LEDs was hotter than hell!
Replaced the LEDs and all seems back to normal

Everything is back in place
I decided to put the transformer card on the back of the light panel. Not sure if that’s where it supposed to go but there really isn’t room anywhere else.

I’m not happy with the wire harness… there’s really no clean way to put this back but whatever. It’s all in and everything is working.

She’s 100% done and plays great! Just a few last workshop pics before I put her in the game room.

How do you like the drop target baffle? That was a huge change in my opinion.

I didnt use the normal sized off white spools, I used the blue fins there so I cant install it. I was going to dremel off the pieces that rest against them and try to fit it.

Ok maybe I’m done now…

Probably Rio
Or Gold Wings. But every time I play gold wings I have a blast so who knows.

I somehow missed this thread. This is absolutely stunning. Great job and amazing patience with all the setbacks.

Just to tie up a few loose ends.
Installed the CPR topper and added a light strip behind it.

Also in the Xenon club there was discussion about the ball getting hung up on the switch for the ramp. I mentioned adding an opto and long story short Sonic was able to make a MRS so that’s now attached to the lower back portion of the tube! The original switch is removed.

I had a sound issue that several people were helping me with but I gave up on fixing it for the time being.
Xe’ is now out in the game room between Mata Hari and Firepower!

Interesting lineup, 1980 & older pins, and newer Sterns, with one mid-80's thrown in. Not a fan of 80's System 11 or 90's DMD games?

I used to only have room for 5 so my thought was one from each main era
Flipperless
EM with flippers
Early Solid State
DMD
Modern tv looking monitor thing (whatever thats called)

However as time went on, I stopped caring and just got games that were locally available for restoration. All games except GB and SW were piles of crap projects.
Well technically my GB ended up being a project because it was routed to death, only thing that made it worth while was the day-1 playfield protector on it, the whole thing needed gone over significantly and a lot of replacements.
Almost got a CFTBL but the timing was off and I was a little short on the asking price. As for system 11 I couldve have gotten a space station for a project but I literally had no room. That has since changed and now I have a dedicated workshop so I can imagine the line up changing quite a bit going forward.

So short story long yeah I love 90s DMD and System 11, you have one you want to sell me DIRT cheap so I can restore it?

Xenon will be my next hard top project.

I decided to add an additional power supply for mods and upgraded the sound system on my Firepower and ultimately decided that Xenon deserved the same. Here’s the link to the upgrades that I copied for Xenon:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/dumpster-firepower/page/11#post-7450338

Basically I added a power supply that allows 5V and 12v power, I went the terminal route, added an amp, new speakers and a subwoofer. I used the same amp and subwoofer from TNA. However with Xenon I went down a size to 8” instead of the 10” option that I installed in Firepower.

I temporarily rigged everything up to test how my sound would work out in the workshop.

Then I mimicked the layout in my firepower.

I got my cabinet LEDs and my topper LEDs routed to the terminals and bundled all the audio cords and ran everything back to my new speakers.

Then I installed my subwoofer upfront. The sound in xenon is significantly different from firepower and the low end isn’t as intense. The open air set up for the sub worked out. I was planning on building a box but it wasn’t necessary.

Lastly I added a fan for the head that I bought forever ago.

But most importantly I created a decal for my amp.

Such an awesome upgrade, I love hearing the deep tone of those fat synth sounds in this game!!!4C8BED75-1F55-4325-8043-665EEB62E11F (resized).jpeg4C8BED75-1F55-4325-8043-665EEB62E11F (resized).jpeg

Very nice restoration/upgrade here. I like the detail orientation and tasteful improvements made.
I would have done a few things differently; but I can only find a skilled implementation on this game.
Makes me want to do another restore / homebrew build.
