i'm having a problem on my JJP PotC where 3 targets are not registering hits. It doesn't seem to be the physical metal leaf part - i can physically get the two pieces to touch and the switch doesn't register. I can't find any lose connections under the playfield. Am i right that if that was the issue the whole column would be out? (at the moment the other targets on drive 2 eg. the SPOT Gold target, are working fine).

Can anyone suggest what I should try next?

Thanks!

It looks like these targets are on the black pearl. Have you removed the mini playfield? It's not uncommon for a lead to break off of a spot target or two on the bottom side of the ship. This wouldn't kill every target on the mini playfield.

I managed to get the black pearl out - I think I found a gate in the wrong position. Am I right that the gate shown in the photos should be in the higher position (to stop a ball travelling back down the vuk) rather than the lower position (which I guess would help the ball stay on the playfield…kinda)

The gate should be in the higher position, like it is in your first photo.

Check out the Green w/ brown trace wire at the SPOT and GOLD targets looking for a broken double wire since the switches are all in column 2 in your picture.

Yep that is exactly where the broken wire is (see below). My soldering is rough at best so I’m currently seeking someone with finer skills to help me out

I advise you to remove a zip tie or two to leave some slack so that this does not happen again. I disassembled the pearl at least ten times for the same reason. And for practical reasons I also advise you to remove this part when you perform the operation. The pearl is much easier to put back in place (and it avoids scratching it)

ah OK - makes sense, thanks for the advice, appreciate it!
