I'm working on s friends x filles. The metal plate in front of the file cabinet on this one is held in place by 5 small brads. Not sure how the factory service kit was meant to be done. I need the metal plate to be more flush with pf. Ball is jumping at lip. Any help would be appreciated

When I put the siderails in the existing holes It is a little off center. Anyone else add these? thinking I may move it forward and drill 4 new holes.
