Quoted from Whridlsoncestood:

I have a PDF file of the system 11 sticker and I reenter the info on it for the game I'm working on.

That was a lot easier of an answer than I was expecting. I am having a tough time deciding what to do with my cab. I want to decal but it is fantastic condition for age and would almost feel bad for sanding it down but it isn't as perfect as i would like. Minor scratches except backbox.

My compliments on this restore thread! You really dig in and go for it, and come out with a quality product.

I would definetly keep that one original. That head can be filled and touched up easily. Keep the screened art and sand down the inside and repaint that part to clean it up.

Really anxious to start playing it again.

Thanks for the advice, anyone know the paint code I should use or do people actually take in the backbox to match perfectly?

#56 5 years ago

I took in my decals in to have a paint match made.

#57 5 years ago

Mine will surely have some level of fade so I will probably have to take in the backbox. Especially considering I need the red circle painted as well...

#58 5 years ago

With the red circle you could always mask it with frisket and airbrush. Fairly simple area to cut out and you can repaint the whole circle the closest stock shade you can find and not have to wory about never matching the colors perfectly.

#63 5 years ago

Great Job once again sir!

#64 5 years ago

All I can say is WOW! what love, talent and time can do. Most impressed with your work. Looks new again.

#65 5 years ago

Are you re-graining the guides by hand? If so, do you mind me asking what you're using?

Looking great!

#66 5 years ago

I use this. Works great. Home Depot carries them. image.jpg

#67 5 years ago

image-703.jpgFinally put the topper on.

#68 5 years ago

Had to make a new one of these. It mounts to the side of the right ramp. Does not come with the ramp or the plastic set. Old and yellowed next to nice new clear rampsIMG_9486.JPGIMG_9487.JPG

Cut a new piece out of plexi glass

IMG_9489.JPG

Riveted it onto the new ramp.

Everything is back in and fully operational. Few bulbs to mess around with still and needs sone instruction cards
And another odds and end or two. image-102.jpgimage-466.jpgimage-448.jpgimage-325.jpg

#70 5 years ago

Looks great and done quickly. Impressive

#71 5 years ago

did your left ramp fit without any adjustment to the playfield?

#72 5 years ago

Meh. It's ok.

Damn that is SUPER nice! Well done sir! If this is half as nice as the High Speed you had there last year, it will sell for sure!

Chris

#73 5 years ago

That is one hell of a job you did on that Taxi, looking forward to seeing it at the show!

No adjustment needed for mine. What was off on yours?

The back side of the rivets kept it from seating right.. I routed out the playfield to make it work.. I guess they're not all exactly the same.

Cleaned the bottom. Inside and out. Much better!

How did you clean the bottom? Just sanding?

#77 5 years ago

Let me know if you decide to move this later. Wonderful job and a great looking Taxi as the end result.

#78 5 years ago
Quoted from Choggard:

Yes just sanding. Lots of it

#79 5 years ago

Wow! Amazing job on such a great game. Well done brother and I look forward to playing this in AT.

Somewhere out there, Python looks on and is proud.

Maybe a dumb question, but sanding by hand? Or do you use an orbital sander?

#81 5 years ago

I'd say a combination of both.

Beautiful work, Jim.

Quoted from ashburton:

#82 5 years ago

Yup. Both. Orbital to start. You won't get all the corners without hand sanding.

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

I'd say a combination of both.
Beautiful work, Jim.

Thank Bryan. Means a lot coming from someone of your caliber. Can't say I haven't learned a trick or two from you over the years

I like to think that. Working on this and running the Python tournament and doing the t shirts all at the same time felt really good but hit even harder when the news came through.

See you in less than 2 weeks. Can't wait for Allentown.

#92 5 years ago

Chris

#93 5 years ago

Chris we will... i will have some 2" masking tape on my shirt that says Pinside Gerry...

#94 5 years ago

#95 5 years ago

Great work!

#96 5 years ago
Quoted from Whridlsoncestood:

I took in my decals in to have a paint match made.

I found Rustoleum Painter's Touch Marigold to be a near-perfect match for my new decals.

Now I just have to finish sanding before I put it to use
