This may be the last pinball restoration I do. I've done over 100 of them and it's been more and more like work lately than fun. And at 250 to 275 pounds, they're not so easy to move around anymore and I'm not getting any younger. Maybe it's fitting this one is for me. It's a favorite.

Great game to end it on. Bsd was the first machine a shopped as a new pinball owner 20 years ago. Still have one in the collection. It’s seems to be getting more and more popular these days. Yours looks very nice enjoy it!

Wow, that's a beauty! Don't retire yet, I'm still learning stuff from your posts

What a legacy. Your restorations have always been the best. Often doing things before other restorers even thought of doing them.

Your talent will be missed in pinball.

I feel your pain. It's fun to do for yourself. It's a chore when you have to do them for other people. Unfortunately, I can't quit doing them or I have to get a different job.

I just take Viagra for my pinball restorations these days. Little blue pill & the thrill of the silver ball!

I hope not but if so I could not blame you.
From what I can see compared to the earlier days of doing this. Things are much more complicated these day with all extras that are expected as well as more instant gratification driven.

If you want to revisit it anytime you know there is a room for you down here in NC

Gorgeous BSD!! I'm thinking about calling it quits for resto myself. It's taken way to much time away from family and other things that I would like to do. I got completely overwhelmed by to many way to quickly and am now struggling with an extensive backlog .

I know you don't like the cold, Chris, and I've been trying to get you here for years, but the house next door just went up for sale. Large garage with room for out buildings in the back. I could set up an appointment for you.

    #18 5 years ago

You know you're a pinball nerd when you recognize games by the underside of the playfield. I've never owned one, but once I saw that 2nd pic I knew it was BSD

    #21 5 years ago

I'm eternally grateful for the NGG proto you did for me Bryan, and if the BSD is your last resto it may free up CH to do more playfields for me lol.
Your posts are always very helpful for all involved in this hobby, please keep them coming.

You do great work. Hope you return after recharging your batteries.

Bryan does exceptional work - thank you for the games you restored for me.

Just need to up your T. You'll be shoving those suckers around again in no time!

Tools....parts.....you name it. Not sure what I'm gong to do with everything.

I know you would give them a good home, Jay.

    Bryan,

There comes a time when we all have to consider time vs. reward. I've admired your work for years and try my best to emulate it. Of course, I finish the front edge of the backbox.

Your restorations speak volumes of the quality and care you put into your work.

Enjoy whatever you decide to do with your extra time. If it turns out to be pinball restoration, that's still a good thing.

    BRYANMAN!!

I love you, Doug.....in a manly sort of way.

    #31 5 years ago

It must be very tedious, time consuming work to begin with and people can be real nitpicky, and in such a hurry these days with no patience at all. Can't say I blame you.

Good luck with whatever else you decide to do!

    #32 5 years ago

Wow! that is a really nice job. Good luck with what ever you are doing next!

    #33 5 years ago

Say it ain't so, Bryan! Maybe take a break for a little while. How about a book? I'd buy it

    #34 5 years ago

Thanks Bryan your documented restorations especially IJ has been a life saver for me. I have to credit the games I have restored to you such a great reference and you always answer questions no matter how simple they seem. Great guy, hope you still hang out on here occasionally

    #36 5 years ago

    That BSD looks fantastic.
I own an Indiana Jones that you restored and it's a true work of art.

Maybe Spooky could use a guy to sweep the floors?

    #37 5 years ago

hey asshole! if you quit restoring pinball machines, who am I supposed to badger when you do something wrong?! maybe you should just switch to arcade restorations. I hear those cabinets are much lighter

seriously though, thanks for everything that you've provided over the years and I hope this isn't truly the end. there's probably still one or two good tips left rolling around in that noggin of yours

It's not like I'm f'ing dead. I just want everyone to get off my lawn.

    #41 5 years ago

where do you live again? I've got a motorcycle that wants to date your front lawn and tear that sh*t up

maybe you should move to arizona and start a zen rock garden for your lawn. hey! then you could offer to landscape all of your neighbor's "lawns"

Just wanted to say thanks for all the games you have done and in particular your willingness to share and document things here.

It may not seem like it, but I study and have learned a bunch from what you do/have done.

I hope to someday be able to retire and work on more restorations, but until then I will pick away at 1 or 2 each year and continue to incorporate things from the masters like you Bryan.

Thank you, but there were people doing this before Jim and I and there will be people doing it after. There are some really good restoration threads currently on Pinside and there are also some really bad ones. Sadly, some people can't tell the difference.

I don't think there is ever one single reason why someone quits doing what they're doing. For me, it was a combination of things and that combination of things just didn't make it fun anymore.

I'm not going anywhere. I'm still here. If anyone is looking for advice, feel free to PM me and I'll help if I can.

Enjoy your work. When do you start on this one?

Bryan, did the restoration video footage from years ago ever go anywhere? Do you think it will ever be released?

    Hi Bryan,

Thanks for all the restorations that you did for me over the past several years as I really appreciate all the hard work and attention to detail that you put into each restoration. Your BSD restoration looks great and it appears to be nearly completed. I see that you must be waiting until the very end of the restoration to install the target decals.

Thank you for taking the time to document your work over the years and to help others in countless threads.
