Long time lurker, First Post
Really appreciating all of the awesome info on here!

Received my Mando Prem 5 days ago, updated to 1.20 right away w/no issues, and played quite a bit this past weekend. Just loving learning the game until a dead right flipper pops in the middle of a monster multi-ball

There were no signs of anything wrong until that moment. Both flips work on upper playfield so thinking the right button opto is OK. Nothing hung up, nothing weak, just completely dead on the lower right flip.

I poked around best I could without raising the playfield to no avail, but I guess I'm learning about this machine earlier than expected!

Any tips or known failure points? I've been reading this chain since the early days and haven't seen any flipper failures and searching so far shows nothing
Thanks!

Quoted from JonCBrand:

Id lift playfield and check solder joints at flipper coil. Doesn't sound like a flipper button leaf switch issue, but worth making sure those are adjusted correctly.

Yep, that was it. cold solder joint on the coil wire to the soldering tab. I guess you could say it was a defective coil, but fix was simple.
Thanks for the help!

Shaker! Best mod! Game is coded well for it.

Yes, agree on the shaker mod. Mando Prem is my first pin too, and the shaker was an "ehhh" mod until I played one with it. Love it

Cliffys (passionforpinball base kit) seem to be running 3-4 weeks turn-around. Worth getting them ordered ASAP if you're worried about the ramp

Regarding lower flipper power, I've maintained mine at stock only because of flipper power drop-off after extended play.

I assume this is due to solenoid or driver heat-up, and I also assume a lower power setting would further reduce power after extended play? It starts to get tough to make it up the right scoop

My alternative way of thinking has me wondering if lowering default flipper power would extend the time it takes before heat-up is noticeable?

Quoted from BrandonLaw:

Check the RJ45 seating on the node board and your reader. Also, make sure you have the coin door switch pulled out to allow PF power while setting it up.

The 1.20 code supporting Insider Connect was released on the same day I received my Premium. After code update from 0.98 (I think?) it was shipped with, the behavior changed on this. If the door is open, it'll say there's no insider hardware, you can pull the door switch as Brandon says, or if you enter setup mode anyway and close the door, Insider HW will be recognized and you can continue setup using the flipper buttons

Quoted from bigguybbr:

It's what makes it a fun shooter but makes it my least favorite multiball. You can't just slap balls away and hope to make lucky shots

Agree with that! Was frustrating at first, especially when I realized on other games that I rely on survival for multi-ball points rather than any accuracy

Now, I can't say I'm the model of multi-ball precision after ~6months w/Mando, but I'm finding I play with my vision a little higher up the PF with some better muscle-memory shots. The game is def quick for my skills, but sticking w/it does improve one's overall game IMO

I still have little to no time to deal w/the upper PF, but maybe in 6 more months!

Quoted from J85M:

I managed to keep the star posts, had a fair bit of play in then so just loosened them and pushed the post back and up then re tightened, night and day difference, worth trying before swapping out posts in case it works for your game.

Similar here, except I think the first couple hundred games of trying to backhand and missing hard 50%+ of the time probably moved the post on its own . I can make it 80-90% of the time now

I know my timing has gotten better, but not that much better
