Got the call tonight!
I should be officially in the club next week!!!

Awesome! I got the email earlier today that mine shipped so I'll soon be in the club too! It's my first pin and definitely not my last.

Got my first pinball machine Mando Premium on 3/7/2022. What are the must haves as far as mods and or upgrades. Since I'm a newbie to owning a machine and want to do what I can to keep it in good shape.

Check out diddys mods stores in the market. He has a few awesome ones for mando. I have slave 1, foundry and the stormtrooper spikes and they look awesome.

Anyone here hook up Mando to a subwoofer? If so, what sub, and how did you hook it up? Any benefit on a dedicated connector vs alligator clips? Looking to jump in on a sub, any advice about what's working (or not) for your Mando is appreciated! Looks like the Polk PSW10 is pretty common...

There is a very large DIY thread about sound on Stern Spike machines here:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/improving-sound-quality-the-diy-route#post-6709271

Lots of personal choices and subjectivity to sound. I replaced the speakers in my pro with the same as the premium. Then used the built in EQ to make the cab speaker a sub and the back box speakers mid/treble. I looked up the speaker specs and used that as a guide. Sounds great to me.

PSW10 is a good standard, I would not go any cheaper than it. I researched the best subs for the money and a lot of people are saying ditch the Polk and go with a Dayton Audio SUB-1000 or SUB-1200. I have a Polk PSW10 and it's plenty good for a pinball machine. Alligator clipped in parallel with the stock subwoofer, then wired into the right or left speaker level input channel on the sub. Alligator clips are not ideal but they work.

As torpedo2k menitoned, upgrading the speakers to a decent 5.25" set will also make a big difference. The Kenwoods Stern uses are a good standard. You should also buy the larger speaker plates and possibly a spacer if the tweeter sticks out in front too far.

Hooked mine up to a SVS SB-1000 with a PinWoofer GT kit and the line out accessory. Sounds (and feels) like playing in a movie theater. Happy to share my sub settings if you go that route.

#4510 2 years ago

I upgraded my premium to the Kenwood KFC-1366S speakers and the 5.25" speaker panel kit from @dugfreez, and did not change any EQ settings or add any other hardware.

I'm not an audiophile and it's very possible that I could improve the quality by doing more, but I will say that the sound is awesome and has plenty of bass for my tastes even with this relatively minimal upgrade. I believe the KFC-1366S speaker was the model Stern was using for the LEs for a while.

I keep the volume around 7 or 8 and have never needed to go any higher

Thanks for the reminder! I sent an email to Cliffy just now. I created a to-do/shopping list based on posts on this thread and one of the other items I have listed for must haves before first playing is mylar to protect the shooter lane along with turning down the eject power. Is something like this all I need for that?

My Wife just called to say, they delivered our Mando Premium. I had asked her to try and bribe the Driver with $50 to bring it around to the back of the house to our walkout basement. She offered him $25 and he did it, this is the way.

That mylar will do the job. I also pickup Cliffy's shooter lane set for each game.

Yes. I don't use the outhole drain (purchased in the past and it works just felt mylaar was enough), I just wrap in mylar, and I have a Pro so I can't speak to the mini playfield edge.

Hey everyone,
Just got my Mando Premium for my first pin. Put a few games in, and noticed that the center ramp isn't connected to the left return, it's just sitting on top of the bracket. I checked through the machine to see if I could find a screw/bolt, but no luck - and I can't find a reference to what is used in the parts manual. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Nelson

It moves no problem. I can slide it over. However, I don't HAVE a screw, and can't find a reference to the size/type of the screw. I'll gladly run up to the hardware store and grab one to replace it, I just need to know what to get.

Check in your cabinet maybe on top of the cabinet speaker as it’s magnetic, often the screws are there somewhere.

Non-pinballs that fall out through the center drain also tend to drop into the coin box, that's another place to check.

I have 5 of these and 2 x better models that are 12". Best secondhand deal! I don't pay ANY more than 50$ on CL/FB/OU....they are always on the second-hand market. Game changer. (One is on my pin downstairs.)

Would be nice if they actually did. It seems like the only way Stern could make something that didn't suck, is if they started making vacuum cleaners. It actually pains me to say that, as Mando is my favorite machine currently and I'm waiting patiently for Godzilla's arrival. It just sure would be nice if after shelling out 7 to 10 grand on a machine you could just plug it in and play it the day you get it without having to worry about destroying it, or having to add a couple hundred dollars in basic upgrades right out of the gate. (Cliffies, coil stops, new rubbers, etc.)

I've found screws under the shaker, after removing the shaker enclosure. I've also found a screw in the playfield rail.

#4525 2 years ago

When you use the whistling birds in a mission to spot you the shots, does it also give you the points for those shots or does it just advance the mode.

I usually hit it when I'm about to drain but if i don't get the points for the shots it spots, I will have to alter my strategy.

The whistling birds animation replaces the end of mode animation where it would show the point total, so I can't really tell if i got extra points, or not.

I installed my MRS switch today in the UTURN on Mando. I have attached pictures of what comes in the box and tried my best to document the process with pictures. 2 screws to remove the old switch. Cut the wires from the old switch. (I dismantled the old switch trying to make a screw template for the MRS but it didn't line up...so don't do that...lol). I just decided on a spot for the screw that was not near the original 2 holes. You only need one screw. The directions say to drill a pilot hole in the new switch. I just screwed it in. (You do you...). There is a small bit of play (up and down) with the MRS in the switch slot so I just centered it. Then I tightened the screw into the bottom of the playfield. Make sure not to overtighten as the switch will start to bow. If that happens (happened to me) just back the screw out a bit till the switch is flat against the bottom of the playfield. Strip the old wires (add heat shrink tubing if you want) and solder the new wires to the old ones. One green wire to the red wire. One green wire to both black wires. Doesn't matter which way you wire it. Heat up the heat shrink tubing and BAM! You're done.

I play tested that UTURN shot like crazy both with the glass off and on. *ZERO missed hits.* The MRS activates when the ball is within approximately 1/3 of an inch! The ball physically cannot be that far from the switch and pass through the UTURN. It is impossible for the switch not to register a hit when a ball is shot through the UTURN. This is the perfect fix for missed switch hits on this shot! Phenomenal product, can't say enough good things!

M&M creations Sonic is who you want to contact to buy this switch from!

Got my 2nd highest score ever, because my super jackpot shots actually registered!

Just an observation but this title looks to be experiencing a bit of a resurgence of late following its lukewarm release last year. It seems there are more and more pinballers out there starting to realise how good this game actually is.

Bit of a sleeper title?

Stern just finished the only production run currently planned for this year and they’ve been shipping out all month.

So resurgence is probably just folks that have been waiting finally getting their orders fulfilled. . Hopefully there is enough buzz to fuel enough orders to get them put on the line again next year.

Ok got it... I thought this game was finally getting a little more traction which it deserves. So really only down to the new run being pushed out. Bummer. But I guess the more mandos out there the better.

Just my 2 cents, not that you necessarily need my advice. Most people want the easy and convenience of being able to place an order online without having to reach out, wait for a response, go back and forth for a bit etc. If it were easy to order these I would probably order some, but for months I see these reviews and no easy way to order this awesome product so I don't. Food for thought, sales might skyrocket if you put them in the pinside market place or created a website. Just my 2 cents.

it seems that the switch in the horseshoe loop does not always register the shot if it is too fast. You can adjust the switch a bit but a reed switch (magnetic) seems to do the trick better. I had some rejects on that shot but manage it still to a minimum.

Appreciate the feedback - but I think our customers would convey that our process couldn't be easier and quicker....simply PM us, pay via PayPal/Venmo, and it's out the door in 24-36hrs....You have to understand the nature of the product - there needs to be some discussion as to application a lot of times- customers come up with wild ideas of where to use them...and they overlook details on mounting orientation and such...so the manner by which we manage works the best....that said, sales right now is all that we can handle. Our goal is be as transparent as possible and not hide behind websites and such (my phone and email are plastered everywhere)....so if you are up for it - drop us a line - maybe place an order....you won't be disappointed.

Thank you for the explanation. I'll keep an eye out to see if I have the same problem. So far I didn't notice it, but since I'm not a good player, the machine keeps me busy otherwise and I just may have missed it.

Anyone using Titan rubbers on there and if so, do you like it? On my previous machine it came with Superbands and they made it play a lot easier because the ball would just drop dead on the flippers, but I want to get better so I'm looking for an alternative that plays truer to regular rubber without all the dirt. Friend of mine suggested going all transparent. Any opinions on that?

There is also a small plastic washer that goes between the ramps. Bummer! I'd email stern.

Does anyone have trouble on the left ramp with rejects? I have to hit a super smooth shot to not get a rattle around reject. I feel like I'm hitting it clean enough but still get a reject. From the right, I get rejects every now and then unless I grace the posts- those get always rejected. I still can make it with the backhand from the left, though that needs to be pretty accurate to go all the way up.

On my previous machine it came with Superbands and they made it play a lot easier because the ball would just drop dead on the flippers, but I want to get better so I'm looking for an alternative that plays truer to regular rubber without all the dirt. Friend of mine suggested going all transparent. Any opinions on that?

Titans...
Installed a full set. Balls are leaving the playfield everywhere on my machine (yes, they are installed correctly). Balls all have scratches. Had to replace the set with 200 plays. Considering going back to OEM rubber even though they were shedding badly.

Joining the club today. What are the must have mods for this game other than the moving grogu? Hoping to see good stuff at TPF.

I added armor, art blades, shaker and shooter rod and like it so far.

I recommend an external Polk subwoofer and upgraded backbox speakers. Sounds/music are great in this game and deserve a quality speaker system.

Luckily I have a Polk ready from a previous game.
