Quoted from jawjaw:

Sounds like a lot of people start putting their names down prior to announcement these days. Good for Stern but sucks for a lot of people that get locked out of chance to get one. If this is really happening on a large scale, Stern should consider a lottery system or maybe just making more LE's.

Dead right. LEs are gimmick just to get scrape in more cash. I can see why they do it but it sucks.

My wife: "You're not buying a Mandalorian pinball machine!"

Me: "This is the way..."

My wife: "Don't be childish, we've got too many as it is and there is no more space in the house!!"

Me: "I have spoken..."

#230 2 years ago

Any word on the designer, could it be one of Keith's??

#236 2 years ago

Hype to me = theme potential, and this is off the charts. But please don't let it be a cookie cutter fan style layout....

#253 2 years ago
Quoted from NeilMcRae:

lol I had pretty much same convo!

Lol, What's your prediction Neil, killer game or what?

#274 2 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

This cannot be emphasized enough frankly. I was basically done with Star Wars after TLJ. No enthusiasm for the franchise (TLJ killed Star Wars vastly worse than Game of Thrones’ last season killed that show...which was also bad). I didn’t even watch Mando till just a few months ago, I had so little interest in Star Wars. Then...my friends finally got me to check it out and I’m hooked. Even my four year old likes the show.
I hear Stern is upping the MSRP for this title. That is indicative they think they have a grand slam on their hands...

I felt exactly the same way. TLJ was a stake through the heart of the Star Wars franchise, I still remember the feeling leaving the cinema, the magic was dead.

But that openning scene from Mando to the bar sparked it back up. Awesome series.

#323 2 years ago

Hope she's back, loved her character.

Not to derail this thread... but was just reading that Disney have changed the Snow White ride at Disneyland, specifically the scene where the prince kisses a dead Snow White to bring her back to life. Apparently that scene gives a message that Snow White 'did not consent' !? FFS... If Disney carry on like that they will cease to exist as everything will probably offend someone.

#384 2 years ago
Quoted from macethetemplar:

Only a few seconds long but confirmed Mando.

"You son of a bit*h, I'm in!!"

#658 2 years ago

Someone explained to me that LEs are a way to guarantee a minimum number of sales at a high price. This makes total sense. If they were not limited, there would be no guarantees, people would wait and see.

I'm not in favour of LEs but the logic is sound.

#685 2 years ago

Which Mando are you referring to? Mandalore Mando off the TV or Mandlebaum from a few pages ago?

#713 2 years ago

Let's speculate about features - custom callouts by Carl Weathers?

#1100 2 years ago

Code wise I don't know a lot about Lonnie. But code is orientated around the design right?

#1116 2 years ago
Quoted from RobT:

The good thing here is the fact that Brian Eddy will be taking a roll in the coding of the game.

Just watched this video, the comment at the end that all Brian's games are coded in a similar way. Probably what we can expect in terms of mode/multiball structure. Would love a design with a bit more variety than a fan though.

#1260 2 years ago

I think I suggested Carl Weathers callouts a few pages back. It was a total fantasy wish on my part so don't get your hopes up.

#1586 2 years ago

This is really spiking my wire form fetish! This is definitely the way!

#1596 2 years ago
Quoted from donkadelic:

I hate Star Wars...
And Lord of The Rings...
And Harry Potter...
etc
How about something actually interesting or different?
Pulp Fiction? Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas? Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Succession? Think outside the box people...the repetitive nature of the industry is nauseating.
Oh and what happened to original titles? You know...the ones you can actually make more money on because you're not paying Disney 1200$ a machine in royalties?
"Popular themes sell pinball machines though!"
That's because on the rare occurrence they do make a game that isn't cookie cutter stamped with the flavor of the year, it's utter crap like black knight pro or elvira, or some music pin from a band that nobody's given two shits about in 30 years!
This is Brian Eddy you morons! He created arguably the two best pinball machines of all time WITH NO MAJOR THEME.....HELLO? Talk about not knowing how to use your talent...
Yes, it'll sell. But this Stern complacency in the marketplace will come back to bite them in the ass eventually. Some other company will get with the program and actually focus on fun innovative tech and experiences instead of chasing licenses....
The public doesn't know what they want until you give it to them.

Not sure why you would drop into a thread of a theme you don't like and take the time to rant like this.

#1600 2 years ago
Quoted from donkadelic:

seems like the perfect place to complain about the theme i dont like?
i am an le buyer, not some shlub...

Stern thread dude.

#1647 2 years ago

Maybe there is a magnet which grabs the ball and Grogu moves his hand to give a illusion of the force? I would be happy with that.

#1845 2 years ago

Love the criss-cross wireforms and diverter and can imagine the game has some good flow shots. Rule set sounds nice so far, and they have included quite a lot of the show's main aspects.

But PLEASE make Grogu do more that have him just stand there FFS... even if he just looks around and blinks? I would definitely mod him out with an animatronic version.

#1866 2 years ago
Quoted from calprog:

Premium is the way to go. Need to wait for mid June though. You can dress it up better than a LE!

Ummm... it's not like.

#1897 2 years ago

***Calling all modders***

I'm pretty sure a modifed Hasbro animatronic Grogu would fit in that same spot. Develop a circuit that links his movements to what's happening on the playfield and you will sell a bucket load.

#2123 2 years ago

Has it been confirmed if Cara Dune is in the game?

#2125 2 years ago
Quoted from nicoy3k:

what did the chick do to get banned from the show?

Shared an opinion on social media.

#2259 2 years ago
Quoted from scasteel:

Thst would be sweet. I believe the included figure is also on Amazon and does nothing [quoted image]

Looked at my lad's animatronic Growgu and I'm sure it could be modified to fit. How about if modders could add a circuit to control the movement...

#2480 2 years ago

I'm a code junkie and the comments on Dwight's reputation are making me nervous...

I'm looking for a deep game with lots of rabbit holes to explore. Looking at the announced rule set there are not a massive number of modes, and the encounters are more of a novelty. But there is quite a lot to go at overall including the foundry options to explore.

As someone else pointed out, Maiden isn't particularly deep but is a challenge due to the layout.

P.s. all the comments on layout/design. Remember back to the underwhelming reveal of EHOH?

#2484 2 years ago
Quoted from Mizzou0103:

I’d be excited Dwight’s coding it. His style has changed a lot recently. He landed on a set up that is pinball as a role playing game structure. Pick a character. Go on missions. Level up the character to score more points later in the game. It’s honestly pretty genius.

Cheers for that! Your description of his coding sounds a perfect fit for the theme.

Also just to pick up on the people that don't see a world under the glass. I think the LE helps thanks to the side art. And the detail on the overall artwork is crazy. For me it looks good and some mods will only help.

#2500 2 years ago
Quoted from Lhyrgoif:

This game.... meh

You and your comments... meh

#2511 2 years ago
Quoted from Jediturtle:

Does anyone else think the upper playfield was supposed to be Slave 1? It is shaped vaguely like it, moves like it, and would make a lot more sense overall. My pure guess is that it was designed as Slave 1 but had to change for some reason (licensing maybe?). Depending on how it's integrated in the code, it might be an interesting mod exercise to change it. Not meant as a complaint, just an observation.
The game looks great to me so far. Can't wait to see footage and play it! I'm really glad Dwight is on it...he's probably my favorite programmer. I hope he goes slightly easier on the hurry-ups than TMNT and SW, but overall I can't wait to see what he does here! Amazing art too...every package is awesome. Very well done. Not to mention most machines look better in person than in pictures, so I can't wait to see this beauty!

No. Mando's helmet is so iconic, I think they wanted it on the playfield in some major way.

#2538 2 years ago
Quoted from seenev:

Maybe this is all just part of Stern's plan. Leave her off the game, then release a Cara Dune version after they bring her back. Like BM66 Catwoman Version or Star Wars comic version... Release a variant of a popular game to boost a new round of sales.

She was a great character in the show but can't understand why everyone is fauning over her for the pin.

#2682 2 years ago
Quoted from PiperPinball:Just bought one to take apart and try to mod it in the game. Add a few relay boards so when the magnet energizes baby Yoda would go into force pose with his hand over the ball. And we could take it one step further and add a magnet in his hand to force pull it up then drop the ball. Other features could be when the spinner moves baby Yodas eyes would open and close. However, depends on what is inside the Hasbro baby Yoda. Other mods we plan to make is a Dark Saber ramp mod that would light up when the ball passes over it. Lots of modding potential with this game!

Yes, what this man said.

#2704 2 years ago

Its new pinball tech called a "testicular target"

#2807 2 years ago
Quoted from nicoy3k:

struggling between really wanting this game and thinking it’s a turd. I love the look of the game (minus yoda doll) and the layout feels unique and packed... but when I dissect it every shot is basic and the upper pf might have the fewest “shots” of any upper of I’ve ever seen, It feels like it’s missing that one super satisfying unique shot and is relying on a potentially bad mini pf too much....

I think you're wrong on the shots, but we need to see some gameplay.

#2922 2 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I'm curious who is on code, who did the playfield design, and if there has ever been a game with a plastic ramp before?

Aren't you wondering why there are lights on Mando's helmet playfield malarkey?

#2928 2 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

WHERE'S GINA?!?!

She's AWOL off in search for a game with a plastic ramp.

#2934 2 years ago
Quoted from Bendit:

Is Grogu's jacket made out of hard plastic, or flexible fabric?
That could be a clue as well.

Fabric, you can see the hem of it move in one of the promos.

-3
#2937 2 years ago

Something really fishy here guys... Watch this video from 49 seconds and slow down playback to 0.25:

It shows the magnet activation when Grogu uses the force - and his coat definitely moves!! It could have been hit by the ball but I don't think so.

This could be proof that he moves, or that he moved at some point!

#2944 2 years ago
Quoted from Pinhead1982:

That’s just movement from ball ricochet. Look
At edge of coat, looks like plastic.

Could be, but there looks to be plenty of clearance above the ball. Unless they were arsing around with Grogu's position for the close-up.

11
#2947 2 years ago

Would be class trolling by Stern if Grogu did move.

#3055 2 years ago

WOZ is the same. Both playfields are happily flipping away all of the time.

I know Keith discussed muting them when not in use, but decided against this due to reliability of this solution.

#3083 2 years ago

My first thought on the upper pf was that lightning flippers would look less clumsy. Also increase the challenge.

#3087 2 years ago
Quoted from chuckwurt:

Mini flippers. Lightning flippers are barely smaller.

No. I meant lightning flippers, mini flippers would be way too small.

13
#3097 2 years ago
Quoted from Trogdor:

Valid for the pro. Not other versions. LZ has plenty going for it, as long as magnetic spinner works properly. There is a flow to LZ that fits the theme and reminds me of MM. We’ll see with Mando, but it looks like they just threw stuff in to suck in a few bills. A two-ball multiball on some dudes face?? Ah, Disney would be so proud..

Do yourself a favour and go and listen to Brian on the Super Awesome Pinball podcast. They obviously didn't just thrown stuff in there, what an ignorant comment.

#3136 2 years ago

Good banter!

My Dad can fight your Dad!!

#3440 2 years ago

Can anyone else think of another game which has rotating plastic ramps?

#3507 2 years ago

What about crop rotation? The crops don't rotate at all

#3719 2 years ago

That gif worked. And his head is definitely moving independent of his body.

#4120 2 years ago

Is the shoot out scene with IG-11 in the game, where they find the child? Surely it has to be bit I didn't catch it in the stream.

#4122 2 years ago

That's awesome news, as its my favourite scene. Thanks man.

#4291 2 years ago

The mini pf is going to play manic and frenzied, so nothing like your bog standard mini pf. I think that's a plus point.

#4349 2 years ago

Mando's rule set seems anything but lacklustre.

Quoted from Halfwasted:

Dwight isn't lazy. His rules just are lack luster.

#4356 2 years ago

Please entertain me with a topic related to Stern's Mandalorian pinball machine...

Is anyone concerned with the ball dribbling off the right wireform? It seems to be from where the up/down scoop's wireform meets the one coming from the right. Hope that is getting sorted in production.

#4362 2 years ago
Quoted from Mark1971:

Every pin will need to be tuned up a bit. They are all the same but play slightly different unless you tune them a bit with some adjustments to make them shoot like butter. If you cant do it yourself find someone who can.

You would have thought they would have dialled the game in perfectly for the stream. Hope it is just an easy home tweak.

#4453 2 years ago
Quoted from NeilMcRae:

Getting ready!
I'd like to ask you all to sit back and enjoy a Mirdoroo Grogu (Midori and Lemonade!)- this game is going to be great. I have a good feeling about it; and so does my drink.
[quoted image]

Reminds me of Terence and Philip from South Park, but cheers Neil!

#4472 2 years ago
Quoted from moat-pin:

Haha yeh this is something I actually did too...if not obvious. She kinda bought it. I ended up selling the +1 but months later.

It would be cool if the static Mando on the screen got upgrades as the game continues and you spend at the foundry.

I hope you can make it harder in the settings

Also hope so, would like this set to hard from the outset.

#4997 1 year ago

Upper pf is Premium/LE all the way. Some people are saying the Pro could be fun with one flipper, a nudge/skill event, etc. But for me it's a flat non-feature.

I would also like to see how the tilting pf plays with lightning flippers installed. Not much difference in size I know but would like to try it at some point.

#5033 1 year ago

Please have a look at the game's difficulty settings and report anything interesting.

I totally understand why they are making MB achieveable, but I personally feel it should be earned. Especially in a game portraying a bounty hunter.

Gary: Replace the LE knob shooter rod with a standard shooter and list it separately for $125

Stern team: Are you sure Gary, this might look like we are taking the piss out of all those people paying a small fortune?

Gary: This is the way

Stern team: Don't be childish Gary, this is a serious decision, these are our customers!

Gary: I have spoken

#5159 1 year ago

Where do you order the knob shooter? Can't see any Mando stuff on Stern's website.

#5261 1 year ago
Quoted from fosaisu:

Can you think of any pinball games released with the last 20 years that you do enjoy? So far you've only mentioned AFM, which no longer screams "modern" the way it once did.

The guy is some kind of bohemian pinball snob, he needs to drain this thread and move along.

#5315 1 year ago
Quoted from TinyBlackDog:

Sparky is awesome but Balrog is the best IMO. What a clever use of space and very satisfying to hit. And it makes sense to bash on Balrog, unlike Baby Yoda.

Totally agree with you here mate.

#5373 1 year ago
Quoted from cooked71:

Because my opinion is right.
Just stirring you. I really couldn’t give a shit. I think it’s a bash toy, you don’t. It’s all good.
Baby Yoda on the other hand is most definitely not a bash toy….or a toy of any description for that matter.

A bash toy is something you bash i.e. physically hit. If you don't physically hit Sparky then he's not a bash toy. Doesn't matter if you get arsey or not.

Baby Yoda is definitely not a bash toy thank Christ.

-1
#5395 1 year ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

You do hit sparky - what you goofs are arguing over is HOW IT'S DETECTED.. ffs people arguing when they don't even know wtf the stuff is.

I wasn't arguing. I said if you don't hit Sparky he's not a bash toy. But as you hit his feet, he is a bash toy.

If I bash the Bishop, does my weiner become a bash toy?

#5657 1 year ago

Happy birthday mate!

Quoted from Magicmike0:

That’s hilarious! I’ve been enjoying reading through this thread. I never thought I’d own a new stern, and now I’m looking hard at buying my second this year with Mando. I played the pro on location and really enjoyed the short time spent. I was only able to get like 60million haha, but it was good enough for 3rd place(because the game was so new at that location) I know there is a lot of talk about Grogu not moving, and I just want to give my 2 cents. I wish they’d at least made him close his eyes while using “the force” on the premium. However, I think once you guys play it(if you haven’t already)you will be like me, and won’t really care that Grogu doesn’t move. That’s all I’ll say on Grogu...and modders, get busy. Ha!
Anyway, I think the pro was super fun, and I can only imagine how cool the premium will be. Is the premium worth the extra price tag in this pin? For me, at the moment it’s not. Do I still want the premium? Heck yeah!
I’ll probably save that extra 1700.00 toward an escalera though. I’m getting too old to move these pins myself. 45 years old today
Congrats to the owners here. I Hope to be official within a few months. Both versions are sure to be great!

#5662 1 year ago

Jesus christ stop crying in your beer over Munsters code! You have your own club for that.

#5712 1 year ago

I own 2 JJPs (Hobbit and WOZ) and love them both. I wouldn't say they are slow, but they are widebodies so feel very different. To me they are Sunday afternoon games, no rush, a few beers and just enjoy the ride. But if I step from Maiden over to WOZ it can feel quite jarring (slow).

I purposefully went for Mando as a standard body over a game like Alien, as I just prefer the standard gameplay and personally feel you can have too many widebodies in a small collection. So I hear what you saying. Loving what I'm hearing on the gameplay though, can't wait to get it!

Quoted from dinot:

I agree. I went in to GnR LE with no dogs in the JJP vs Stern battles. But I was bored. My biggest gripe was that it was slow. IMO, every JJP game is slow. I like fast games and no JJP games are fast that I've played. And I've played every title. At first, (WoZ) I was thinking that it was that specific machine not being inclined enough, but then every JJP I played was slow. This is quite a statement for me as I was a huge WMS/Bally bigot. I thumbed my nose at Sega/Data East.
Played Mando Pro on location (I've preordered a Premium) and it was a blast. My 13 year old daughter loved it as well which just doesn't happen. (She is typically not crazy either way about pinball) The pin convinced her to watch the show. She and I (I am watching it again with her this time) are halfway through season 2. I had to dance around the question of "Why is Luke Skywalker on the slingshot?"

#5764 1 year ago
Quoted from chuckwurt:

It was a joke. But seriously, not one single mod is necessary. Are they cool? Fuck yeah. But never necessary in any game.

Unless the game design is flawed is some way, but I take your point - this logic would also have saved me a tonne of money!

People bang on about code... had a good go on my LOTR today and what's that. 3 multiballs, 5/6 modes, and wizard mode, mega wizard mode with some bits and bobs along the way. But... it has that x factor with the theme integration which makes awesome.

Mando has enough to do in my opinion, but also hope it has that special something.

Edit: Razorcrest hurryup does feel like a bummer of a mode.

Anyone else have issues backhanding the right ramp consistently?
From a cradle, I almost always hit the bottom of the Luke slingshot
And when I do clear the sling the ball just rattles at the base of the right ramp and trickles back down
Rarely does the ball make its way up and around the ramp

On a Premium or Pro? On my Prem I can backhand that shot from a cradle 100% of the time, its very reliable.

Feels a lot like GB. STDM from out of the U turn and hitting the right side rail pretty consistently. Mando's a tough shooter but we really like the game regardless.

Mmmm..... I never get SDTM shots from the u-turn. Maybe something to do with the setup?

I need to download this now!!!

Did they change the upper pf so after round 1 it moves on straight to round 2, so skipping the bonus? This was really needed to keep that part of the game flowing.
