Quoted from thewool:Code wise I don't know a lot about Lonnie. But code is orientated around the design right?
The good thing here is the fact that Brian Eddy will be taking a roll in the coding of the game.
Quoted from whoknowsgoi:$9199. I luckily got one of their avail LE's
How do you know you were "lucky" to get one when we have not seen a single picture yet?
Is it purely based on theme?
Based on Brian Eddy as the designer?
Based on FOMO?
Quoted from Saltimbanco:I think he's just saying he's happy to get one, why not leave it at that? I'm glad for him!
I wonder why Stern keeps raising prices?
Quoted from Oneangrymo:Hahaha no one is lowering prices . Materials , personnel , healthcare , retirement plans , food , rent have all increased , the overhead has increased , no one is going to give u a discount .
And you didn't even list the main reason...
Quoted from pinmister:Not feeling it-dammit
Love the theme and have an LE, but looks like a pass for me
When I heard upper playfield-I cringed a bit
I can't stand gimmicky upper/lower playfields. Then I was all stoked for the Pro-cool color scheme and art-then dammit another useless mini-playfield. If this is the way-you can have it.
[quoted image]
Yep, I have to agree. I just don't like mini playfields, and this one looks to be a major part of the pin. It looks pretty good overall, but that mini pf makes this a non-starter for me. And I can't even escape it by buying the pro. Bummer.
Quoted from PanzerFreak:Mando just doesn't have that world under glass feeling in my opinion. First off there's the giant Baby Yoda doll that does nothing and seems just placed to say "HEY HERE'S BABY YODA" to sell games. Baby Yoda is supposed to be small but is larger then the ship and Mando's helmet on the playfield? Second there's the drop down target from the ship which honestly looks ugly and almost as large as the ship. Third, the upper mini playfield represents what from the show? Mando himself doesn't have a bunch of LED's lit on his helmet. Also, just hitting standup targets is going to get old very quick in that mini playfield.
Look at Ghostbusters. There's a subway track that drops into an subway, the Ecto Goggles toy, and slimer moving. With TMNT there's a spinning disk that looks like a pizza, a van that drops ball outs, a divertor molded like a glider. In JP there's the whole raptor pen area and the t-rex that eats the pinball. Mando has nothing like those items, no feature really stands out as an interactive toy representing something from the theme. The razer crest is an awesome ship but it doesn't have an awkward large target hanging off of it.
Don't often agree with Panzer, but I do here.
Not sure what to make of that.
Quoted from jonesjb:The upper playfield reminds me of the lower one in Congo.
1) at least the lower PF on Congo did not take up space on the main PF
2) Congo is a great playing pin despite the lower PF, not because of it.
Quoted from Guinnesstime:This magnet use is a miss.
[quoted image]
Sure seems like it.
I mean I just don't see anything that could possibly be exciting about a magnet grabbing the ball and "throwing" it down one of the rollover lanes. I'm actually having a hard time believing that it can really be that lame?
Overall presentation kind of sucked. Too much rambling and weak attempts at explaining shit that nobody even understands yet anyway since nobody has one. It's the freaking reveal, so just play the damn pin!
Magnet is lame.
Upper pf plays as I thought it would. Definitely not for me.
And the upper pf is pretty much the only interactive mech on the whole pin. What else is there besides the magnet and the swinging target?
Many of the shots look like they are satisfying to shoot, but would have to play to know for sure.
Quoted from usandthem:I’ve noticed that ST LE prices have gone up beyond the original price at this point on more than one transaction. That one shocks me and truly demonstrates this crazy market. It’s one of those games that’s way better in theory than in execution. The 11 magnet doesn’t work worth a damn (yes, after 10 hours of “tweaking”, you can make it a little better), there’s a nagging gate issue under the demogorgon resulting in constantly stuck balls, the projector sounds way cooler than it looks. The UV is awesome, but you have to pay extra and you can get one for a pro anyway.
The price of STh LE's have gone up in price for a reason. The market disagrees with you. The pin is fun as hell to play.
And my TK lock works great, and required very little tweaking.
Quoted from usandthem:I was already set straight earlier. Thanks.
No problem. I'm sure you are used to it.
Quoted from freddy:See no reason not to be happy with my new mando! All coded by Dwight!
Brian Eddy will be helping out on code, just like he did on STh. This is a good thing.
Quoted from iceman44:Was it you Rob that coined the “Walking Dud” title early on? Lol
Or might have been Eskaybee?
Yeah, I have to take the blame on that one.
I have never been more happy to later be proven wrong on that one! Game was always an ass kicker, but the code turned out to be fantastic, and the difficulty kept you coming back for more. Eventually learned the shots and when a game came together it was amazing. My first Zombie pin, took the place of RAZA.
Quoted from chuckwurt:Again. Please play games before you decide to buy them. Also assume that once you buy them, they will be that way forever. It will guarantee you’ll never be disappointed.
Playing a pin before buying is overrated in my experience.
I have played pins on location or at a friends house that I loved, so I bought it and when I got it home didn't care for it much at all after a week or two.
I have also played pins that I really did not like much at all, but wound up buying anyway because of theme and the hopes that code would make it better (example, TWD, as referenced previously...I called it The Walking Dud). Turned out later to be one of my favorites.
So really, playing first doesn't guarantee anything one way or the other, at least for me.
The shots definitely look fun and satisfying to hit, especially the right horseshoe. Theme/music/sound effects are good, and to a lesser extent so are the callouts. Theme is definitely appealing.
Mini PF still does nothing for me, and there's definitely a lack of interactive toys. I think code/rules will largely make or break this one (which is usually the case).
Quoted from HoakyPoaky:Didn't anyone notice the fricking MIRACLE that occurred at the flippers at the 1:25:45 mark? Because DeadFlip sure didn't.
DAYUM
What are the odds?
What am I missing?
Quoted from pinmister:For me Superbands are a MUST. Not really about the colors but the way they play. They do pop with the colors but really feel they help with ball control, dead bounces, etc. Give them a try, you may dig them.
Superbands have their positive attributes (seem to give the feeling of stronger flippers, last longer) but they are absolutely terrible for dead bounces.
Quoted from Tsskinne:Will be streaming here in about two hours![quoted image]
Don't think I've ever seen anyone load a pin sideways like that before?
Quoted from zaki:he should have been a bash toy. i don't like the over sized doll.
Grogu should have been a bash toy?
How the hell does that make any sense?
Quoted from Parkshow30:Very fun game. Most of the shots being so close made them very easy to make but punishing if you miss.
Completely consistent with his design on STh.
Quoted from flynnibus:Stranger things isn’t this close. STh has this trait due to the standups around every shot (like ritchie).
Mando has shots ghat are actually low on the playfield.
I agree. Sorry, I meant in terms of being punishing for missed shots.
Quoted from pinmister:So far I relate the upper PF on Premium/LE Mandalorian to the upper PF on Transformers LE in terms of fun factor.
That's one of the most brutal criticisms that there could be for the mini pf.
