“Gina Carano Back on The Mandalorian Season 3, Disney Execs Confirms in Leaked Info.”

Great news and hope she is part of the game code, as she is an awesome part of the Mando universe. Xaqery please put her in the game.

Now, Stern can release the Gina upgrade. New translight and a playfield plastic with her depicted somewhere.

I was able to put some time on the Pro on location and thought it was a lot of fun. Volume was set a little low so I can't speak to that.

I didn't feel like the shots were too close at all. Flow was good, the shots were "in the right place" meaning easy to find and natural, able to hit them while flailing as I do. I was really surprised at the curve at the end of the left ramp. It's tougher to backhand than I thought it would be just because of the way it swoops to the right at the bottom. Just something that I didn't notice in the pictures or streams.
I found the upper playfield to be fun, real hard to keep the ball alive and hit the targets, and overall a good thing. I'm sure the tilting on the Premium is fancy, but the pro version is just fine in my book. Only caveat there is that on location the tiltbob was set tight, and I think that playfield really requires a little wiggle and nudging. So people playing this game out might not be able to do much up there. I certainly got a warning every.single.time I was up there.

The first multiball is VERY close to the start button. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I don't think any game we played went without 2 of the multiballs being achieved. My son and I saw very little game progress other than the multiballs. But we're not great players.

Couple negatives - Several times our game would just randomly end with the ball still in play. It would just dim the GI, tally up the bonus, and game over, ignoring extra balls and....the fact that the ball was still in play. Oddly when it did this it always gave us a match and free game, as if to say sorry.

When the diverter is down to drop the ball into the upper playfield, sometimes it would bounce back and fall down the ramp. Longest reject of all time?

Occasionally 2 balls would spit out into the shooter lane, which isn't super uncommon on new Sterns in my experience, but in my past the game always knew it did it and would let you drain one and keep going. Here, if you drained one you were done. Sudden death 2-ball multiball. This happened twice in a row to my son (ball 1 and 2) and I'm pretty sure that's why at the end of the night he said the game was "meh" and to not get one for home.

I'm looking forward to playing some more. It's going to be a money printing machine for most locations that get one. When you think about it, a smooth easy shooter with accessible multiballs is exactly what keeps younger or less skilled players coming back. Giving good players the option to go Impossible mode turns an "easier" game into a very difficult game, giving something for everyone. Squash a few bugs, give me some time on it, and it may turn out to be one of my favorite games.

Was it running on V.0.96?

Quoted from ChrisLIX:

Thanks for sharing your first impressions.
Based on the first reviews/comments I've read, it's becoming an evidence they will need to work on the difficulty to get the multiball because if we always get it in the first minute of each game, it will be boring.
I am confident they will listen the community and make us happy

Just because you can start it doesn’t mean it’s worth it.

You want to stack to make it worthwhile.

#5357 2 years ago
Quoted from KozMckPinball:

Yes forgot that one. Anyone know much about the mini wizard modes? Do they stay around until you finish them or fail and you have to re-enable the mode somehow?

You fail you gotta re qualify. Multiball i think you gotta hit the shot so many times again. Ambush you fail and again requalify.

We only played one coop game… but foing that makes finishing most objectives pretty easy except encounters

Eta: fail after playing… to be clear

#5358 2 years ago
Quoted from RobT:

Completely consistent with his design on STh.

Stranger things isn’t this close. STh has this trait due to the standups around every shot (like ritchie).

Mando has shots ghat are actually low on the playfield.

Anyone checked under the pf to see what the Stern code word was for Mando?
Xaqery ?

Quoted from TheProgrammer:

Last night he said it was/is “JENNIE”

Quoted from heyitsjoebob:

I don't get the reference

Quoted from joelbob:

I'm not understanding the connection with "Jennie"?

Good, that means Stern chose a good code name

#5363 2 years ago

I am not much for toppers, but the Stern topper on my Black Knight: Sword of Rage is one of the coolest things EVER to be attached to a pinball machine.
No other topper has ever come close, IMHO.

Now's the chance for Stern to reuse the R&D they did for that one and kick it up to the next level: same general architecture, replace the head with the Mando helmet, make the background the illuminated inside of the Razor Crest (maybe with a small Grogu on the left... make him animated too, even just a little bit, and you can double the price ), have it synchronized to gameplay and callouts like on BK:SoR and THEN you'll have a $1000 topper everyone will buy in a nanosecond. Or at least I will.

Please?

PS: can't wait for my LE!

In the house! Seems heavier. What a blast so far. Shots are close and that ball rockets right back. Love the asset usage so far.

nope i disagree Sparky is an opto it passes through / not even a standup target like Minideadpool. Both again NOT bash toys .
by your logic if a ball passes through an opto is a bash toy then any ball triggering a switch is a bash toy as well.

Let us say if you hit a thing and said thing(other than a standup target ) does something / that is a bash toy / Prison Door(twd) / Garage door (Simpsons)/ Wolverine (x-men) /Mets Snake jaw on Premium Only / i could go one but i think the point is made here.
Elvira's Leapers are more of a bash toy then Mini Deadpool any day but not sure i can call the leapers bash toys but maybe / tough call on that one

/

Quoted from cooked71:You’re wrong about sparky - all bash toys are just hitting a switch and making some toy directly interact with the ball.
But the theatrics and personality of Sparky are unmatched - the idea you’re electrocuting this little smartass who taunts you and throws the ball around. Then hit him enough and it’s the best multiball start sequence in pinball. Only mm castle is close.
But I’ll give you Snake - it’s a cool toy also.
Balrog is way way down the list for me - always found it underwhelming, even annoying.

I like the start of Most of the Met's Multi balls. The cross raising . the last hammer drop and all three balls in the coffin/ Sake Multiball/ Sparky / Hell it is why it used to be my grail after STTNG / The met was done out by GNRce / All great games
Sparky is similar to Doc Oc on Spiderman but hell of fun

i own it . How am i wrong. Its an Opto . The feet and sparky do nothing / Its a cool Mold for sure / Perhaps my opinion on What constitutes an Interactive bash toy is different than others opinions . Cool to be wrong and own it for sure

Because my opinion is right.

Just stirring you. I really couldn’t give a shit. I think it’s a bash toy, you don’t. It’s all good.

Baby Yoda on the other hand is most definitely not a bash toy….or a toy of any description for that matter.

They market the magic spinner on zeppelin as a “bash toy” and while I guess I could see that it’s really not in my opinion but that’s what I was referring to earlier not the icarus. Like you said just because it has a switch and the ball activated it doesn’t make it a bash toy

A bash toy is something you bash i.e. physically hit. If you don't physically hit Sparky then he's not a bash toy. Doesn't matter if you get arsey or not.

Baby Yoda is definitely not a bash toy thank Christ.

Pirate ship on Stern Pirates, Herman on Munsters? Both optos in front of quite dynamic toys ...

I’m not sure how many of you have actually played Metallica, but on my model, the ball hits Sparkys feet. Sorry, bashes Sparkys feet. On my Metallica his feet are actually very dirty from being bashed by the pinball.

When he gets hit (and there’s a target and optos there to register the hit - like all good bash toys), he moves, makes noises, throws the ball around and triggers lights. If you hit him enough he gets electrocuted.

#5385 2 years ago

Fair point. Sparkys feet definitely get bashed.

#5386 2 years ago

Yeah, placement of the switch shouldn't matter... if something's getting hit, it's getting hit.

Best bash toy will always be Medieval Madness. It's perfectly themed (force down the drawbridge then bash in the gate), and it has 3 distinct results depending on phase: fall into the moat, rebound off the gate or through the doors for the boom.

2nd best bash toy is Rudy from Funhouse. How can you NOT love a bash toy that screams in pain and cusses you out after getting hit?

3rd best is an un-reinforced Mick-on-a-Stick. I'll always drop quarters for a chance to decapitate one of these.

4th best are NGG's gofers Bud and Buzz. Stop blocking my shots *bash!*

#5387 2 years ago

Rudy is my all time. So so good.

#5388 2 years ago

The first modder that comes up and make a Grogu that reacts to the gameplay and is somewhat animated, if that Mod becomes a must have, will make a fortune..!

So, modders, also think of the eyes closing, and of projections on Grogu when he's making a 'Force Phone Call' prompted by some action during gameplay.

Thats definitely up there. What about the Trolls? They always get forgotten, poor things.

I think theres one thing we can all agree on (well, probably not, this is pinside) - the first rule of all bash toys it's got to be something you WANT to bash. Smart ass Rudy and Sparky, trolls, enemy ships. Baby Yoda not so much. Thankfully Brian Eddy protected him behind some pops and lanes.
