    Quoted from too-many-pins:

Right now is a great time for pinball but it is also a time with a lot of uncertainty. Over the past 5 years or so prices have been going up at an unreal pace. You could buy just about any title - enjoy it a few months - then sell it at a profit. Those days are gone for sure.
Only time will tell what all these new machines will do to the overall pinball market but a couple things are for sure. People now have a couple choices, not just Stern, if they are in the market for a new machine. And buying machines to flip for a profit is now very risky as it should be.
Falling prices are bad for those who bought high but great for everyone that was priced out of the market. The days of decent titles at reasonable prices might be coming back.
If you bought high you will likely agree with the original post here. But if you have been waiting to buy great machines at decent prices your time might be just around the corner.

Good times for sure, but I don't see the uncertainty. Maybe for those that though pinball was part of their retirement plans.

I'd prefer a nice stable market. Predictable for a seller that wants to cash out or rotate games and less drama for buyers.

    Quoted from jalpert:

Is it possible Stern chose now to redo IM to get their new boardset ready for the game this winter?

If that was the goal they would have just done it on a current production game. Less costly to do so. For IM they had to spend money on updating for a new cabinet, tooling for 1 piece iron monger, decals etc.
