Nickel plated tacks from Home Depot are a good replacement

I don’t personally use those but the logic behind them is solid.
The issue I have seen is they should really be larger to serve the purpose. Often the coin eject button just slips past them and indents the cabinet right beside it.
That being the case what I prefer is to bundle the harness up and anchor in a strain relief manner as a way to insure it won’t open that far.

Yep my machines have those. And today I learned something new.

The tacks i bought have a head with the same size as the original nails. Never had an issue with them.

Back in the day you’d have people removing the coin box every few days. Door needs to go wide open to get it in and out.

Personally I’m not slamming the door open at any stage ... if that was a concern you could put a small chain between the door and the cabinet that would stop the door .. or tie the wire harness tight as HEP said. Or put the nail back in if you so desire.
