I have not had any major issues with the 7v buffered boards. Those were the last used before going to the 2.0 system.
The very first boards (5v unbuffered) did unfortunately have issues.
No matter what, WOZ is such an awesome game.

Quoted from Pimp77:False. There was like two or three early, heavily routed machines with specifically Balder pf problems. Most early games used Mirco pfs and they are solid.
Yup... mine is a green ECLE with a Mirco playfield and 7v buffered boards and I’m sure its not the only one.
Quoted from lordloss:If that were true, why did JJP spend so much to develop this new WOZ system?
I don’t think it is actually a big expense and may even be a savings for them in the long run. The system was already developed and proven in Hobbit, then was being used in DI... since they were re-upping and continuing WOZ production it doesn’t make sense to keep two seperate system types on the floor as doing so increases line worker confusion and training costs plus you have to two sets of all the supporting components where you could have just one.
It just makes sense to update to your current technology when continuing production.
As far as why change the tech at all? Would we rather have them sit still and not innovate? I think thats a lot of what we are paying for and supporting with the expense of their games... innovation in pinball... so yea.. they better be.
If I had an ECLE with lockup issues (mine was built later) I would just bite the bullet and drop the 60 bucks or so at amazon for the newer pc board since my understanding is that the cause is a linux driver issue with the older pc board hardware.
Been kind of thinking about doing that anyway since they are using a newer one since hobbit that some say has a tiny performance boost to some of the on screen special effects.
Quoted from PinMonk:That's a guess. I suspect it's the problem, but no one knows for sure.
Yeah but if I had the issue and it bugged me that seems like a relatively cheap thing to try plus while your at it you get to upgrade to HDMI and mildly faster graphics processing. Unless, are the monitors in those early ones VGA only?
Quoted from PinMonk:But it's a step into the unknown for a route machine that makes nothing if it goes down in the process. If it was at home? I'd probably already have done it. But if it was at home, I'd likely never know it had the lockup issue since it's usually turned on, played, and turned off, and that wouldn't be long enough for the issue to manifest.
Butch said they're concentrating on reproducing the issue so they can make a software fix now, so we'll probably just leave it at 5.05 and wait for the software fix.
Yeah, on route is definitely another story.
