Three beautifully restored: Catacomb, Viper and Dragonfist. Seawitch and Nine ball above average. Meteor gorgeous. Big Game players, but with NOS PF. What would you ask?
One pricing & sales strategy is to: price them a bit more than what you feel they are worth, list them here, create a forum thread for them, let the price police have a cow and create more awareness to Pinsiders of these pins being available for sale. Argue with price police a bit, then negotiate reasonably with collectors that really seem interested.
Beautiful collection! I think you've got to break them up. You'll probably get more $$$ that way and I think it might be difficult to find a buyer for all at once.
Wow, based on your firm asking prices, my 1990’s Williams are worth 15k each! Prices have gone way up evidently.
Keep this shit bumped. Will make deals on multiple pin sales--only Catacomb and DF will remain stratospheric.
Quoted from Mitch:Well you have had 3 up for sale just sitting for over a month so I'm guessing your already asking too much.
WPT $4500? Hahahahahahaha
Just kidding with ya. Your games are nice so it's probably worth it, but I'd sell it too.
Anyway, I'm following too. I'd sure love to have a couple of your games.
In all fairness early stern prices have been nudging up. Although his may be about 20% high, they are in the neighborhood, to the point it may be geographically correct. Quality early titles are worth quality money. I like the early sterns for their rulesets. I would hold onto them. Meteor and f2k do come up more often. Just because they haven’t sold right away doesn’t necessarily mean anything. A lot of shows goin on, and a lot of new titles coming down the pipe may be delaying people’s purchases.
Quoted from bangerjay:I was thinking about it too, but nah
Where exactly is Yomamasville? Is it near Jabronisburg?
Quoted from Phat_Jay:Just because they haven’t sold right away doesn’t necessarily mean anything.
Exactly. Some think if a pin has not sold in 10 days then something must be wrong. But that is not the case. You can sell any pin in 24 hours or less if you price it low enough, or too low. Too low of a price brings out the sharks. Many people panic and set the price too low. That used to be a consideration when you had to pay for newspaper ads, etc.
With Craigslist and other "free" selling venues a seller can sit back and wait for the right buyer to come along. I doubt that pinlawyer is going to starve if he does not sell his pins in 10 days. Or 20 days. Or 30 days.
My Laser Cue was up on CL for 2 months before I got the buyer I was looking for. CL was free listing. If I were having to pay for newspaper ads a 60 day wait would have been expensive.

WPT is high--but it's customized and all the shitty art is gone. Chrome armor, LEDs, colorDMD, custom one-off translite, and the factory whitewood with handwritten notations, cleared.
Ali and Meteor:

That's an average of $3,750 each. That's well above full-blown-retail-with-a-warranty-from-a-reputable-vendor pricing, not "discounted group buy".
Discounted from what he wants for them, apparently. Rare & restored ones like Dragonfist & Viper might command that kind of coin.
Quoted from drsfmd:That's an average of $3,750 each. That's well above full-blown-retail-with-a-warranty-from-a-reputable-vendor pricing, not "discounted group buy".
Yup, not going to happen as a group. Individually some are worth that $$ but a meteor sure isn't.

Dragonfist is the rare unit with only 302 produced. Catacomb's production numbers are unknown. I did some swagging awhile back and IMO, less than 1000 units of Catacomb were produced. I'm thinking Catacomb was in the 900 unit range. Both of these pins have sold for an amount in excess of $3500.00 recently. Last year, a restored Seawitch brought $4000.00.
Quoted from vbittnv:Yup, not going to happen as a group. Individually some are worth that $$ but a meteor sure isn't.
Why not? You catch that one buyer who wants an instant classic Stern collection, has the bucks, and does not want to dick around with barn finds and fixer uppers and they all could be gone in one truck.
Quoted from cottonm4:Dragonfist is the rare unit with only 302 produced.
Only 438 of Viper too.
Quoted from cottonm4:You catch that one buyer who wants an instant classic Stern collection, has the bucks, and does not want to dick around with barn finds and fixer uppers and they all could be gone in one truck.
I would absolutely buy these if my income bracket was a notch or two higher. Of course I'd still try to haggle it down a bit.

Yup, more money than brains.. its true. You are correct.. you might sell this. Even if I had the money I wouldnt buy these. I would want clear coated touched up playfields for that money.. I don't care for the "survivor" palyfields on these games cause they still look like crap even if hardly played as typically the inserts have shifted creating the cracking between the insert and the wood. They will continue to wear quickly also as there is just no protection and the chipped/raised edges will wear immediately. The Meteor in this ad's playfield is probably the nicest non touched up playfield Ive seen in that game.. but the inserts borders still look like hell. Check out the pics. For a $4k Meteor, I'd want a practically new game, new playfield, new everything. This era of games are VERY hot right now, but his 3 ads have been sitting over a month... Meaning the prices are too high... Sorry but that is the truth. Fairly priced and these games move in 24 hours. You want top dollar for non restored survivor games.. it might take quite a while .

I don't know where you are coming up with non-restored survivor games. The OP can can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the Viper, Seawitch, Ali, Catacomb, and Dragonfist have been clear coated and restored.
I know, and he has said as much, but several months ago, several classic Stern NOS play fields were up on Ebay. Big Game was one of those play fields and he has one of those.
I have already restored my Big Game or I would be after his BG with that NOS playfield. I'm thinking I may even try to sell my Big Game and try and buy his so I could get the NOS playfield.
I own 5 of the same pins being sold here. I did it the hard way. 500 miles one-way to buy this one. 1100 to buy this one. 1600 to buy this one. etc. Forget the time involved. You are talking a lot of gas, a lot of tire wear, wear and tear on the car, motel expenses, crappy highway food. If I had the money I spent on all of these and the money I still need to spend, going all in for a 5-pin group buy sounds reasonable.
His ads have been sitting for over a month. I see that. So what? He can always come down on a price. He could price them for $1000.00 each and the sharks would clean him out in 10 minutes. Make him and offer. I bet you can get that Meteor for way less than $4000.00 if you were to make an offer. But the Viper, Dragonfist, and Catacomb are going to cost you. He already said as much.
But as you say, you don't have the money, so basically, you are just kicking tires, anyway.

Never said I'd offer $1000 for that meteor... settle down there big boy... I said it's not worth $4k. And you backed up exactly what I'm saying.. you want me to make an offer on this meteor... BECAUSE ITS OVERPRICED!!! That's all I'm saying. You buy items in lots to save money, you dont figure out top dollar individual prices, add the totals up and say here's the lot price. lol. Doesnt work like that.
And thanks for agreeing with me again that he needs to lower his prices on the games that have been sitting for 30 days...that again means THEY ARE OVERPRICED! LOL. never had someone argue with me but back up all my points.
Its just pinball. He asked for an opinion on pricing. His games aren't selling. Just stating they would be selling/ sold if they were fairly priced, never said for pennies on the dollar...but FAIRLY priced. Does he want to sell soon, or in the next three years? When I sell pins, I price them to sell... like sell in a couple days. And they do, because I price them accordingly.
If he's fishing for top dollar, that's also fine, just deal with the people calling you out when you ask for an opinion.
If you're placing a value of $4K on that Meteor then he'll have to bump up his price to $32K. He knows it's not worth that much and values others higher. You can't just divide the price by the number of games and expect each game to be worth that amount.
Quoted from vbittnv:Never said I'd offer $1000 for that meteor... settle down there big boy... I said it's not worth $4k.
Go back and read what I wrote. I never said you offered $1000.00. I said he could drop his prices to $1000.00 and the sharks would clean him out.
And other than someone offered up a $3750.00 average price I don't know where you came up with a $4000.00 price for the Meteor. What I said is that you could go make and offer and you could probably get it for way less than $4000.00.
I need to correct myself. I read his opening post again: "Three beautifully restored: Catacomb, Viper and Dragonfist. Seawitch and Nine ball above average. Meteor gorgeous. Big Game players, but with NOS PF. What would you ask?"
Catacomb, Dragonfist and Viper are restored. I do know that several weeks ago he put out a price he would like to get for his Catacomb. It was up there and out of my range.
His games sitting for 30 days does not mean that are over-priced. It means they are not priced at Bob's Bargain Basement prices. He is asking you where he should price them at. The worst mistake a seller can make is to price his merchandise too cheap. What should he price them at?
We both know that the $4000.00 Meteor price that you came up with is fiction. So, what's it worth? Do you have a price in mind? $500.00? $1000.00? $1500.00? A real nice Meteor just sold for $1500.00 at TPF. $1500.00 did not work for me so I did not buy it. But it was worth $1500.00 to somebody.
I agree with you; This era of pins are on fire. Some of these Sterns are going nuts. I got mine for way less than what they are selling for now. I'm no buyer at today's prices but I am not a seller, either. I feel lucky to have the ones that I do have because they are a blast to play.
In your opinion, what is a Meteor worth? What is his Catacomb worth? We know you are not a buyer because you said you don't have the money. So what price would make you sell your children so you could raise the money to buy?
Meteor may be considered a classic but it’s not a hard game to find and it will never command a premium. It’s gameplay is so mediocre compared to games like Stars and Big Game. No one is paying crazy prices for a nice one or even a restored one. It’s like restoring a Williams Flash. No demand given the quality of gameplay.
Flash will never be Firepower, just like Meteor will never be Nine Ball.
When you are actually ready to sell your Dragonfist, shoot me a PM. These prices are not “thinking of selling prices”, they are more like “wishful thinking” prices.
Quoted from cottonm4:Go back and read what I wrote. I never said you offered $1000.00. I said he could drop his prices to $1000.00 and the sharks would clean him out.

Me not having the money means my 30k would never leave my hand for that lot. It's not a bulk DEAL! Like I said I would never pay $4k for a non restored meteor. NONE WILL!!! The approx $4k price was from a previous poster averaging the games.. or was it $3750.. Either way, $250 ain't making a difference on getting that game sold.
I'm not wasting my time. You are correct.. All of these games are worth $5k easy and they are actually all under-priced.
Any yes, all of his listed games have been sitting over a month means that are all perfectly priced.
You win cottonm4. Ill check back in 3 months when these games are still for sale in this post at the same asking prices... and it will still mean that are not overpriced because you said so.
Just for reference and not sure what you are still internet arguing but the OP actually agreed that the games are overpriced. Post 12.
Have a good night cottonm4 and good luck to the OP to sell these great games.. since you asked for opinions, lower the prices like everybody said( except for cottonm4, he thinks they are fine ). These pins currently are at not gonna sell prices, but wishful thinking prices as snyper2099 mentioned.
Need a Pinball EM to round out the collection.

Were coming round the corner on the pinside price police discussion devolving... I presume, good sir, that a truly interested collector will be contacting you with a reasonable offer anyday.
Lets us know when they sell!
BUMP
Catacomb $3.5k, Viper $3.5k. Dragonfist $3.5k. Seawitch $2.5k and Nine ball $4k. Meteor $1.5. Big Game $2.5k Flight 2k - $2.5k, Ali - $3.5k
That is a grand total of: $28k. for 9 games. how many are there ? If its 7 then a little high. $30k for the entire lot if 9 games is close. 7 not so much.
Beautiful Meteors, Seawitch and F2k can be had any day.
Not having a Stargazer brings the collection down some
I won't look at your different if you sell all of these. Though I would keep Fist, Comb and Lee and rid the rest.
Quoted from Classic_Stern:Beautiful Meteors, Seawitch and F2k can be had any day.
Can they really now?
Please tell me all about this pinball Utopia that exists!

LMAO!! I'll BUY restored Catacombs and DFs for $3500 all day. SW for $2.5k? Blown out, MAYBE. Where is your "market?" I would love to go shopping there.
Would love the OP (Pinlawyer) to price my collection out:
- Funhouse
- RoadShow
- Wipeout
- Shadow
- WhoDunnit
- TwilightZone
- Baywatch
- Haunted House
- Baby PacMan
Just curious......

None of those are hard to get in good condition or that hard to find.
Quoted from Mitch:None of those are hard to get in good condition or that hard to find.
I beg to differ.
Up where they seem to be falling from the sky you might be be swimming in them. But not where I live. My Cat, Dragonfist, were each 1500 miles from home. Even Big Games don’t show up much.
