I like living up north. I can swim in lake Michigan and any inland lakes without worry of something always trying to sting me or eat me..along with some snakes and bugs reptiles on land trying to do me harm. We do have Michigan rattler, bears and the occasional cat not likely to ever see one. well, maybe the bears if upper half of Mi. You have to be street smart anywhere..just have to add "wildlife smart" the more south you go. Still tempted...just another thing to have to deal with. It's a trade off.
I'm actually thinking of moving FURTHER north, the tip of lower Michigan.. I worked on Mackinaw Island as a youngster and that whole area is just plain awesome. If it is going to snow, I want a lot. This 2 to 3 inch stuff in the middle of Mi is useless.
