    Alright,
    in the dinky basement again...

I'm traveling to Jacksonville in June with the girlfriend and daughter... Any suggestions on fun things to do? I checked out the ol' pinballmap.com and nothing to pull out the paper and pen and write grandma about.
I'd like to go fishing, but our daugther is too young, so it would just be my girlfriend and I, and it looks like charters are for parties of 4, so that gets pretty expensive for 2 people.
We went walking around a bit one night in St-Augustine last time we were there, but besides that we mostly stayed at our relatives' house.

I'm up for anything fun, either family oriented or not.

    Thanks for the tips!

Check out Video Game Rescue on Blanding Blvd. Cody has a nice assortment of pins and video games there. He posts updates on it here from time to time.

The Jacksonville Zoo is really nice. They currently have some animatronic dinosaurs.
The Museum of Science is History is pretty cool.
Adventure Landing has a water park, mini-golf, and go-karts
St. Augustine is always nice with the history as well as the attractions like the Fountain of Youth, Gatorland, Haunted Tours, and lots of shopping.
If you can ditch the girlfriend and child, Best Bet has a huge poker room. There is a Budweiser plant here that has tours.
As far as fishing, I usually go out of St. Augustine with my brother-in-law's boat so I can't help you out there.
As far as the beaches, I prefer to go to Ponte Vedra, which is between Jax and St. Augustine.
There are plenty of golf courses, including Sawgrass, home of the Players Championship. The World Golf Hall of Fame is in St. Augustine.

Hey thanks a lot for the tips, Steve!
I'll definitely try to check out the Zoo and Gatorland with the family. My daughter is really into dinosaurs and crocodiles these days.
I never played poker at a casino although I play regularly with friends, and I do enjoy blackjack at the casino so that could be fun. I mostly like the table experience, you can meet all sorts of people, fun or not. So I might try to do a men's night out with my brother in law and try that out.
Budweiser - not a big fan of the beer, but could have been fun nonetheless, but the google reviews are iffy on that one - I think I'll pass.
The Video game place looks pretty cool, although I usually prefer a bar setting - no incredible machines according to pinballmap, but I'd like to give BSD and JD a try so I'll try to stop there if I can.

    Thanks for the tips!
If anybody else from the area has good tips for fishing I'd like to know them - again, my problem is that the charters are usually for 4-6 people and there's just 2 of us - maybe some can hook you up with another party or something, I'll try to call around when I have a little free time.
Maybe we can try a party boat although it's not as great a fishing experience...

Seems like there's pretty good fishing on the Jacksonville Beach Pier.
    I'll give that a shot!

Despite the awful reviews for the Anastasia bowling lanes in St-Augustine, according to pinballmap they have Hobbit, Ghostbusters and GoT over there, I'll definitely see if I can try that out!

Well I don't know how good it is for bowling but it's an awesome place for Pinball.
I was afraid they'd have a couple machines in a corner somewhere but they have a separate bar section and a bunch of recent machines in great shape.
I got to play GB, GoT, KISS and Hobbit (my 2nd ball got stuck in the dragon area on the first game and I enjoyed the others too much to give it another chance.)
They also had IM, Metallica premium and Acdc premium.
    Highly recommended!

Awful reviews? Every time we go there we have the place to ourselves. We love it! If you are still in St. Augustine, go to Mojo's downtown. Great BBQ. There are also 2 or 3 Mojo's in Jax. I prefer the one on Beach Blvd.

Bad yelp reviews, but not Pinball related. Anyhow I loved the place.
I went to Woodpeckers backyard BBQ in st-johns and loved it too. Great food, great spot, great price, friendly service.
Tried the Gator Zoo, another cool activity.

Tomorrow I'm going to the Majesty deep sea fishing party boat, so far so good, hopefully we have a good time!

That bowling alley has been there forever. It looks better than it did 30 years ago believe it or not. The pinball is great. I'm a little concerned that we're the only ones there when we go. Not a good sign, but we love the pinball.

Yeah I don't know but some people want everything to look like an Apple Store. I dig places with a little more character, so right up my alley.
I went Monday PM and was expecting an empty place but there was a decent bowling crowd.
There was just another guy playing Pinball, but with the awesome recent lineup they have I gotta think they make a decent coin somehow.

I think South 'O Philly in St. Augustine still has some pins. The Ripley's Museum had a Ripley's pin last time I was there a couple of years ago.

South A Philly is just video games now.

The most pinball in the area code is Anastasia Lanes and Video Game Rescue.
Sneakers at Jax Beach has some and Players Grill in town does as well.
