With rap music now the mainstream, beating out rock n popularity. I think it’s time for a rap music pin to be made by stern. There are many different ways you could tackle it, like just pick an artist and completely feature their music, just like the current rock titles (Ac-dc, Metallica, ect). For this you’d need a proficient artist but there’s lots that come to mind. You could have it be a east coast, west coast rap battle and feature a couple artists. Or you could do something else.

I think it would be cool to have a “Rap battle America” pin. The rules would be kinda like GoT, but instead of picking a house to play as, you would pick a city to represent. Then you would rap battle other cities around North America until you beat them all. Your wizard modes (instead of Hand of the King and Iron Throne) could be a radio show freestyle; and live tv appearance. Or something to that affect. You wouldn’t even have to use any specific artists, you could just have the styles of music and flow from each city. (Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Compton, ect.) it be great to have music from Drake, Jay Z, Ludicrous, and Dr Dre, but that would probably be expensive. (Plus you could change the tracks if wanted.)

The playfield shots and targets could build a rhyme to battle in each city, with combo shots making better raps. The shots could be labeled as Diss, freestyle, flow, vocabulary, ect. The more shots you make in each city before you lock in the mode he better.

What are your ideas for a rap pin?

    Right after a Polka pin.

Should I add that to the poll?

That would be awesome. Just collect band members. Combo different members to make different songs.

    Quoted from McPin54:

You could get pretty creative with Beastie Boys. That would be the only one that would work for me.

Ya, they’re probably mainstream enough to succeed as a pin

    Quoted from pinkid:

60 votes no so far, a landslide NO.

I’d be willing to bet that you could sell more rap machines, then Supreme machines (assuming both had unlimited runs)

    Quoted from J85M:

Eminem is the only licensed rap artist I could see a pin actually selling

This would probably do better then a wu tang pin would do.

    Quoted from chad:

Gotta have Rappers Delight in there somehow.

This would be much better then kid rock.

How about some smaller indie artists like lil’ dicky. Maybe he can convince stern to lower prices, so we can save dat money

    Quoted from John_I:

If I live to be 1000 years old, I hope to never see a rap pin.

I’m petty sure I’m quoting someone from the Supreme thread when I say that this is not for you.

    Quoted from Hazoff:

but middle to upper class white kids living in the suburbs I think have an easier time identifying with Eminem rather than Chuck D

I grew up on a farm outside a small town in a very rural area. I find that I have an easier time identifying with talent. I enjoy Eminem because he’s one of the best rappers alive. I’ll say the same about Kendrick Lamar, jay z and childish gambino, because they have talent.

    Quoted from John_I:

I thought was a simple exaggeration

I was told long ago to never exaggerate because you loose all credibility when you do.

I’m just amazed that with 9 poll choices that included everything from yes, even thought I don’t like rap; to, sure, after more other music pins; to, no, I hate everything about it; that the majority of votes could be so polarizing. I thought that the pinball (pinside) community would be more open minded and accepting of new demographics.

I just don’t understand why you (a rock fan) wouldn’t want another person to be able to enjoy their favorite music in a pin, the same way you do. I enjoy a very wide verity of music, and would love a diverse pinball collection to match.

    Quoted from o-din:

Except when the white guy uses the n word, he can expect certain repercussions.

I find it very hard to sing along to some of my favorite songs, because I’m not allowed to say all of the artists lyrics.

At karaoke I resort to Young MC, Bust a Move.

    Quoted from Dayhuff:

It's bad enough I have to hear this "music" blasting out of someones car speakers every time I'm at the gas station putting $3+ per gallon in my tank. I mean in the summer it never seems to fail and then they leave it cranked to eleven the entire time I'm at the pump but yet there inside the entire time getting another pack of smokes and lottery tickets. With that said I surely don't want it in the world of pinball as well because the volume would have to be over 120 db's I'm sure.

    John

Wow. Why don’t you tell us how you really feel about “this ‘music’”. I mean how dare someone in public listen to music they enjoy loud enough for you to hear. How despicable, “they leave it cranked” while their inside paying. That would never happen with someone listening to rock and roll. I mean rock and roll has a long history of respecting others by listening quietly. Like all these hippity hop guys just want to fight for their right to party.
