Maybe Stern could do a Rap pin based on how many kids the rapper fathered.

Just like Doctor Who, you change rappers as you build your Shorty Score.

You start relatively low with Lil Wayne and 5 kids

Get your groove going and do P Diddy and 6 kids

Bust a nut to Eazy Es 9 kids

Get strapped as Peter Gunz with 11 kids

Keep pushin it to Shawty Lo with 12 kids

Become an assmaster as Ol' Dirty Bastard with 13 kids

Finally, the wizard mode is a 14 ball muliball as you become DMX

I would buy any pin that comes out but I would especially love to see current relevance even though I am not a fan of this genre in music currently, I was and it would be cool to see this.

From jukebox stats, hip hop is one of the most played genres.

    #205 67 days ago

I will say that doesn't necessarily mean that translates to a pinball customer.

Most of the subjects they rap about would not be family friendly!! Not appropriate for younger players! Not a good theme at all!!!!

    #207 67 days ago

Rap pin?? I think you've got a better chance of seeing a country pin. Either way I don't think interest would be very high, but you never know.

Kool Keith aka Dr. Octagon aka Dr.Doom and I'm in 100% lots of material. Best rapper alive today.

No, it's road trip/construction themed. It has country music in the game but it isn't the theme.

The only DMD era country pin I can't think of is Brooks and Dunn.

Some of Elvis's songs could be considered Country music. At one point I had an Elvis, Dolly Parton, and Roy Clark pinball machines in my collection.

Yes they could, good country which does exist and its the Big E he makes everything alright.

You really need to stop. You sound like an old man decrying the “jungle music” of Elvis in 1956. You are speaking from a position of almost complete ignorance and obvious prejudice.

Is Acdc family friendly? Pretty much the same subject matter as about 100 rap albums I could find you, yet I don’t remember you complaining about that. Or Whoa Nellie for that matter, or a million other games built in the last 50 years that aren’t “appropriate for younger players.”

You’ve already made it quite clear why you don’t want a rap pinball.

It’s because you don’t like “they,” remember?

I don't want "family friendly" to be my guide to pinball.

    I would not pay $14 to see a Rated-G movie, nor would I pay $9,000 for a Rated-G pinball

Go buy a Shrek if you want something your kids will quickly outgrow.

I'mma .. SHOOT THE LEFT RAMP ... Watergate
    I can't stand .. JACKPOT .. in here
'Cause your crystal ball .. GET THE EXTRA BALL
So while .. SUPER JACKPOT .. wonder why
And so on. The worst part about Rock pins is the damn singing bungled up with the callouts. A rap pin would just exacerbate that problem.

thats because you still hold on to the old callouts style
insert some yess and yoyo or scratch or beatbox or other sounds instead its rap
    your brain will adjust

    Quoted from waltgman:

    So were the Beastie Boys

Although I like a few Beastie Boy songs, they were were a marketing ploy to get white kid's parents to allow them to listen to rap.

Record Company Exec #1: This Rap has really taken off! How can we get white kids to buy in?
Record Company Exec #2: Parents don't want their kids listening to black thugs.
RCE#1: Man, we need to pull an Elvis, get those white dollars.
RCE#2: I've got some Jewish white guys that are a joke punk band - they'd do any style that we tell them.
RCE#1: Hmmm.....think we can get Rick Rubin to turn them into Rap? I know he's trying to do a RunDMC vs Aerosmith crossover money grab.
RCE#2: Sure, and get the guitarist from Slayer to do a few solos - you know like Eddy Van Hallen did to get white kids to buy Michael Jackson back when he was black.
RCE#1: Whoooa there! Slayer, that's a little hardcore...
RCE#2: Nah, he'll just do a joke solo, nothing threatening at all. Just the name Slayer to gain some street cred.
RCE#1: Alright, operation White Money is on!

    #234 66 days ago

If I were a pin manufactuter and for some odd reason I was told there was a demand for a rap themed pin I would put my money on a pin that was soley based off Dr.Dre's The Chronic, or a Death Row themed pin. Hell, you could just retheme metalica.

You already got an electric chair (change to the Death Row logo)
Snake VUK could be changed to an Impalla
    Keep the tombstones.

    Mode ideas-
    Drive By
    20 dollar sack pyramid
    Backyard BBQ
    Heist
    One for the homies

    I would play it.

    #235 66 days ago

Beastie boys don’t do licenses, Wu-tang is the only obvious choice for this in my mind, after seeing that GZA is a player in this thread hopefully Stern or JJP will reach out and make it happen. It would f’n sell....

I could not disagree more, The Beastie Boys made some excellent music over decades but to each their own.

    Beastie boys don’t do licenses

It's my understanding Adam Yauch never wanted their music to be used for promo purposes (not necessarily for other purposes, such as a pinball game).. However, they have changed their view since paramount threw them a bunch of money as well:

I have all their albums, so I'm not saying they suck.

But they were to rap what the Monkees were to pop.

(and yes, I like the Monkees too).

Check out this guitar intro that I'm sure they did not play:

If I live to be 1000 years old, I hope to never see a rap pin.

    #241 66 days ago
    Quoted from John_I:

If I live to be 1000 years old, I hope to never see a rap pin.

Why is that do you think? I mean, that's a pretty strong reaction to the idea. Like, I could give a fuck less about Elvis or Kiss, and I've still played their pins. Not having them exist wouldn't be my priority if I was blessed with some 1000 year lifespan.

Is the idea of something you don't care for being enjoyed by others that distasteful? Are you just really racist? Did a rapper run off with your wife?

I'm always amused when this topic comes up how strong people's feelings are for things they won't buy even existing. Few themes seem to engender this kind of outrage.

I really do just think it's because a lot of people on this site are racist by the way, which is why you get these suggestions for Beastie Boys, Eminem, and Kid Rock instead (there's a thing tying them together, exercise for the reader to figure out). But if it's the wife thing it sounds like a hell of story, so do share.

    Quoted from Aurich:

You can say whatever u want about Kiss but leave Elvis out of it.

    Quoted from Aurich:

I really do just think it's because a lot of people on this site are racist by the way

Aurich thats crap, not liking rap hasn't nothing to do with it. I know plenty of folk who don't have a racist bone in their body but can't stand hip hop and its natural to some degree to gravitate towards what you can identify with, at least I think so I mean how many black guys do you know that listen to anything other than hip hop or watch Hockey? but Basketball and Football see what I saying here, whitey preferring B Boys and Eminem is normal, a rap pin won't happen because the demand isn't their just like a Death Metal pin which I would love but who would buy it? If I live 10 000 years I hope they never make a modern pop country pin and you wanna know why? it would bother to know it exists so I get what John I is saying but I don't think it makes him a racist.

    #246 66 days ago
    Quoted from Hazoff:

    Aurich thats crap

Nah, there's a bunch of racist shitkickers here. Not liking rap doesn't make you racist, but there are a bunch of people who don't like rap because they're racist. They're ready with some lines about thugs, the usual boring nonsense. Just calling it like I see it. I get PMs from some of them sometimes, usually talking some political garbage because I'm from California, before I put them on ignore so they can't message me anymore. I'll try and think about them next time I turn up the volume on my rap.

    Quoted from Hazoff:

whitey preferring B Boys and Eminem is normal

lol okay man, whatever you say. "I'm not racist, I just prefer white people"

I'll give you the Beasties, they're not really rappity rap rap, but if you fuck with Eminem and talk shit about rap it's because you are racist, and black people make you uncomfortable.

I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him diiiiiieeeeee
