I remember someone talking about their idea for a "dj" music production pin where you play as a dj/producer (?) and you build/remix a track, which would work for a rap pin, sort of like a game/jukebox combo.

    Quoted from jorro:

    Beasty boys ....maybe
    Sabotage multiball!!!!
    It's kinda fitting lyrics!
I can't stand it, I know you planned it
I'mma set it straight, this Watergate
I can't stand rockin' when I'm in here
'Cause your crystal ball ain't so crystal clear
So while you sit back and wonder why
I got this fuckin' thorn in my side
Oh my god, it's a mirage
    I'm tellin' y'all, it's sabotage
So, so, so, so listen up, 'cause you can't say nothin'
You'll shut me down with a push of your button
But, yo, I'm out and I'm gone
I'll tell you now, I keep it on and on

Here's the problem - this is what you'd get:

    I can't stand it, I kno ... JACKPOT
I'mma .. SHOOT THE LEFT RAMP ... Watergate
    I can't stand .. JACKPOT .. in here
'Cause your crystal ball .. GET THE EXTRA BALL
So while .. SUPER JACKPOT .. wonder why

And so on. The worst part about Rock pins is the damn singing bungled up with the callouts. A rap pin would just exacerbate that problem.

If there was one, how many would sell?

None of the pinheads that I know even listen to rap music.

    #154 1 year ago

I’d only buy a rap pin if it was called rappin’

    #155 1 year ago

What about an Organized Rhyme? DJ Pin, what could be a better fit?

Canadian hip hop is a strange scene. It is generally has much more polite lyrics. I think artists like Shad are really pushing what rap can be.

    #156 1 year ago
    Quoted from Medisinyl:

Very strange to me that stuff like this is getting so much attention

Thats because this current generation is by far the worst in human history and most popular music and film represents that. What the hell is that, I know its not rap its Crap. Gucci? what a joke. Simply a 2 word review "Shit Sandwich" Now theres a cool idea for a music pin.

    1. I'm 1 year younger than you
    2. I'll let you know when I need a fucking Canuck to tell me what's cool

You guys do realize that the Gucci Gang garbage is not what most of us are talking about.

Rather than having an uneducated opinion, why not just watch this:

    https://www.netflix.com/ca/title/80082677

It's a pretty awesome documentary about hip hop, and unless you're a complete muppet, you should walk away from this with some sort of appreciation for the art.

    Cheers

Well one thing Americans do need is Canadians to let them know whats cool that I can't disagree with at all. It seems a year is all one needs to be delusional. 60's and 70's ems? come on man.

The 80s were so cool, there is retro fashion available for you to wear while you are playing your retro 80s themed games whether at home or on location so you can really fit the part!

Ahhh the Jane Fonda workout and locking the door. Childhood memories that will never die. Who am I kidding I just did that last week. Ahhhh sweet sweet Jane.

    Quoted from Hazoff:

That's seriously debatable. If you were a kid at the time of course you will have fond memories, but as a young adult at the time I can say the 80s was certainly not my favorite with the way people acted, dressed, worked themselves to death, and other goings on in the world. It was really a stressed out time.

In fact it would be at the bottom of my list and good riddance when it was over. But we made the best of it and there was plenty of good media and other things to do. I certainly have no desire to revisit it. Never did and never will.

They had us do nuke drills when we were kids where we would get under our desks at school like that would some how save us. As far as coke is concerned it was rampant from the late 70s and 80s and I watched quite a few friends of mine that went from smoking weed in the 70s take a real bad road that it some cases went onto meth later on. It was their choice, not mine.

I'm really stoked for when I was born because I not only got to see part of the 60s but also got to live the dream as a teenage skater and surfer in So Cal during the 70s before this place was way overcrowded and the ocean was still clean. At 56 now, I'm not feeling much older either because I just go with the flow and roll with the times. And good times they are.

What would be hella Sweet is that you either select your decade/era of rap for the whole game, or partial game (mode style). You could have one era of rap for the whole game, select eras via modes, or work your way through different eras through game play (randomized so the game isn’t linear).

I like plenty of rap through the years. Lots actually, but I’d never describe myself as a fan of rap music. Indeed, I probably dislike most of it, but that’s beside the point. I think a rap pin could be really “dope” and would be a great thing for testing the waters of a new demographic. Marketing wise, it’s probably a no brainer, in spite of the “old white guy” syndrome.

Stern should take a chance on a limited release. But they probably won’t, because that would be risky and expensive (cough WWE cough).

    Quoted from Hazoff:

Damn right. best decade for music and film and fashion. You know its true.

The best and the worst IMO. I was 16 in ‘80 and 25 in ‘89, and it was a hell of a ride. The early 80’s were awesome, and original and exciting. The mid to late 80’s was shallow, formulaic, vacuous, tacky, materialistic and drowning in conspicuous consumption.

    #173 1 year ago
    Quoted from o-din:

IMO modern pinball is now in the most un-cool era in it's entire history. Even as somebody that is "supposedly" in the demographic range these newer retro licensed old rock star and movie games are aimed at, I find nothing cool about them at all.
I find it rather unfortunate that this is what it has taken to keep pinball alive. When and if pinball decides to ever become "cool" again, I might be interested in supporting it.
    Cool-

    Uncool-

It’s because EVERYTHING in our society is now is 100% about the $. And marketing, and demographics, and data. Every nuance of our lives is tracked, captured and for sale.

Entertainment, for which we all love and strongly associate with the culture of our era, is no longer art, it’s product. I’m speaking mostly about the mainstream, but these days, in all walks of life, it’s all about the Benjamins. Many things are downright shittier than they were in decades past, because everything gets down to the bottom line.

In the old days, at least people played lip service to art, and culture, and counterculture and being unconventional. Doing things for Love and passion. Not much any more.

I'm thinking the average Pinsider is about a 45-50 + white male who grew up in the burbs and who always got everything they wanted for Christmas, probably just off the cusp of enjoying YO MTV RAPS but never missed Headbanger's Ball and owns every KISS and Aerosmith LP. I'd bet that they also think Tapatio is too spicy and that they think 45 is making it great again.

Lamping like them gray and black Puma's on my man's rack
Codeine was forced in your drink
You had a navy green salamander fiend
    bitches overheard you scream
You two-faces scum of the slum I got your whole body numb
    Blowing like Shalamar in eighty-one
Sound convincing thousand dollar cork-pop convention
Hands like Sonny Liston get fly permission
Hold the fuck up I'll unfasten your wig bad luck
I humiliate separate the English from the Dutch
it's me black Noble Drew Ali
Came in threes we like the Genovese
    sazon season these degrees
it's Earth ninety-three million miles from the first
Rough turbulence the wave burst split the megahertz
    [Raekwon:]
Aiyo that's amazing gun in your mouth talk verbal foul hawk
Connect dots to make my man child walk
Swift notarizer Blue-Tang all up in the high-riser
New York Yank' visor world tranquilizer
Just a dosage delegate my Clan with explosives
While my pen blow lines ferocious
Mediterranean see y'all the number one draft pick
Tear down the beat God then delegate the God to see God
The swift chancellor flex the white-gold tarantula
Track truck diesel play the weed God substantiala
Max mostly undivided then slide in sickening
Guaranteed made 'em jump like Rod Strickland

Of course they don't, lol. Raise your hand if you've ever seen Style Wars! Actually, that film would make for a really incredible pin.

    Quoted from Damien:

You guys do realize that the Gucci Gang garbage is not what most of us are talking about.
Rather than having an uneducated opinion, why not just watch this:
    https://www.netflix.com/ca/title/80082677
It's a pretty awesome documentary about hip hop, and unless you're a complete muppet, you should walk away from this with some sort of appreciation for the art.
    Cheers

Buck 65, Sixtoo and all the folks on Peanuts and Corn are pretty awesome, just to name a few. https://peanutsandcorn.bandcamp.com

    Quoted from imharrow:

What about an Organized Rhyme? DJ Pin, what could be a better fit?
Canadian hip hop is a strange scene. It is generally has much more polite lyrics. I think artists like Shad are really pushing what rap can be.

The greatest living rapper is Machine Gun Kelly:

    [Verse 1]
    Kells
This is a real rapper's theme music
    Bitch, sing to it
This how you cook up some dope with no powder
Don't turn on that stove, just turn this shit up louder
Black Eddie Bauer, mask on my face
Like I'm ready to take what is yours cause it's ours
Y'all stole my style, I shlt on you like bowels
And take all your princesses, bitch, I am Bowser
Fnck superpowers, I got this weed
Gun on my hip, dawg, that's all that I need
I don't play games, man I'm not in no league
And I don't drop no names but bitch I am from Cleve-land
D-D-D-Damn, someone tell Britney we did it again
I hear Pooh Gutta acquitted again
And my bank account holding 6 digits again
    Pour out some Henn'
This for the ones who ain't make it
This for the ones who ain't make it
Focus your lens, point it at me and see greatness
Point it at me and see greatness
Ray need a Benz, Dub needa all black Mercedes
Tezo need all white, he racist but homie I'm sayin'
    I need a penthouse that's vacant
    Arab money "Salaam-Alaikum"
The beast is awaken, pick up your shotty
My bitch is a murderer, she got a body
She got that brain, summa cum laude
My city the jungle, don't take that Safari
It's lions, it's tigers, gangsters, disciples
Lords, Judases, shanks and them rifles
Whores who swear that they live by The Bible
And friends who think they deserve more than entitled
    And that's why I…

    [Hook]
    (Sail)
    Up out of the ghetto
Away from the mornings where snow in that shovel
    (Sail)
    Up out of this level
I'm tryna be number one, why would I settle?
    (Sail)
    Gone to the new world
No Pinta, no Nina, no Santa Maria
Still keep it hood with my peers, sippin' Carlos Rossi Sangria

    [Verse 2]
    Uh, Drank in my cup
Workin' my wrist, I be spankin' my slut
    Juggle my nuts
Use your two hands while I juggle these fucks
    But thats zero, it's none
My hands busy holding middle fingers up
I don't do two things: that's love and that's trust
And I don't hate y'all, I'm just fnckin' with us
    And that's word to Nipsey
My hustle's mean, I can sell bats to Ken Griffey
I'm like Lionel Richie, my fans have me touring till 2050
    This cycle is evil
    This verse is for Tino
    One time for my people
    And fuck all these fakers
Can't wait till you back on your feet, the streets need you

    Quoted from Hazoff:

I'm joking about the fashion, lets be clear on that but films and music oh yeah.

I imagine in some genres the music could be considered good, but I've got a healthy mix of go-to albums from the 60s, 70s, 90s, and 2000s. From the 1980s, I have a Pink Floyd album, Echo and the Bunnymen, and the Smiths. I'm willing to concede that my anti-80s music bias is aimed at hair-metal bands, Phil Collins, and Fine Young Cannibals. I'm sure if I dug deep enough I'd find some treasure.

The greatest Rap group ever was The Geto Boys.

Rick Rubin produced their hardest core disc, that made all the other "gangster rappers" look like little girls.

These guys would make the best Rap Pin, bar none:

    [Verse 1: Bushwick Bill]
Paranoid, sitting in a deep sweat
Thinking, I gotta fnck somebody before the week ends
The sight of blood excites me, shoot you in the head
Sit down, and watch you bleed to death
I hear the sound of your last breath
Shouldn't have been around, I went all the way left
You was in the right place with me at the wrong time
I'm a psychopath, in a minute lose my fncking mind
    Calm down, back to reality
Don't fear death, cause I know that it's promised to me
Flashes, I get flashes of Jason
Gimme a knife, a million lives I'm wastin'
The shadow of death follows me, I don't give a fnck
Pussy play Superman, your ass'll get boxed up
Put him in a straight jacket, the man's sick
This is what goes on in the mind of a lunatic

    [Verse 2: Bushwick Bill]
Looking through her window, now my body is warm
    She's naked, and I'm a peeping tom
Her body's beautiful, so I'm thinking rape
Shouldn't have had her curtains open, so that's her fate
Leaving out her house, grabbed the bitch by her mouth
Drug her back in, slammed her down on the couch
Whipped out my knife, said, "If you scream, I'm cuttin'"
Opened her legs and commenced the fnckin'
She begged me not to kill her, I gave her a rose
Then slit her throat, and watched her shake till her eyes closed
Had sex with the corpse before I left her
And drew my name on the wall like helter skelter
Run for shelter never crossed my mind
I had a gauge, a grenade, and even a nine
    Dial 911 for the bitch
But the cops ain't shlt when they're fncking with a lunatic

    [Verse 3: Scarface]
I sit alone in my four-cornered room staring at candles
Dreaming of the people I've dismantled
I close my eyes and in the circle
Appears the images of sons of bitches that I murdered
Flashbacks of bodies being fncked up
Once I attack, I'm like a pit on a rage that's going for guts
Boys used to die when I'm full of that fry
I be amping when I'm high
So I say 'fnck' and just let bullets fly
Like I said before, Scarface is my identity
A homicidal maniac with suicidal tendencies
I'm on the violent tip, so yo, get a grip
And bitch, come equipped, ain't taking no shlt
    Cause here comes a lunatic

    [Verse 4: Scarface]
My girl's getting skinny, she's strung out on coke
So I went to her mother's house and cut out her throat
Her grandma was standing there, she was screaming out, "Brad!"
As she reached for the telly, I put the blade on Brad's ass
Went to the back and grabbed a shovel
Now granny's on her way to meet the devil
Pulled out my .38 and aimed at the bitch
A cop says (Freeze, motherfncker!) Bitch, suck my dick
I said, "Die, motherfnckers!" as I blasted
Something clicked in my head, visions of bodies in plastic
The scent of buckshots in human flesh
Pigs dying, from bullet wounds to the chest
No sheriff's gonna take me on a road
Dark as fnck, and let his pistols explode
Fnck that, cause I ain'ts to die
So I reloaded my Uzi and fired up another fry
It got me crazy as fnck
A raging psychotic full of that Angel's Dust
The cops had the place surrounded
Hunted for a way to get out - I found it
Innocent bystanders was watching; set an example
I popped one, "Let me go, goddammit scot free or all of these mother fuckers coming with me"
All of a sudden the shlt got silent
I remember waking up in an asylum
Bein treated like a troubled kid
My shirt was all bloody, and both of my wrists was slit
Think this is harsh? This ain't as harsh as it gets
No telling what's being thought up in the mind of a lunatic

    [Verse 5: Willie D]
    November 1st 1966
A damn fool was born with the mind of a lunatic
    I should of been killed
But sister fncked around and let me live
Now I developed a criminal behavior
Fnck with me, and I'll slay ya
    Ass, beyond recognition, shlt
Your dental records couldn't prove your identity, bitch
I beg your pardon, on talking to Borden
You'll never find a mother fncker, so save your milk cartons
Cross the line, your ass is mine
    I don't give a fnck if you're 9 or 99
Blind, crippled, and crazy, don't faze me
Your funky ass will be pushing up daisies
You wanna know what makes me click?
My psychiatrist said I got the mind of a lunatic

    [Verse6: Willie D]
I ain't got it all, so don't fnck with me
Unless your ass wanna be made history
I'll blow your motherfncking house up
And if your wife and kids are inside, they're fncked
    I don't give a damn who I slay
Don't let me get a hold to some E&J
Cause when the shlt hit the fan
I'll stab your ass quicker than a Mexican
The nightmares I leave you with on the scene
Will make Freddy bitch ass look like a wet dream
This is fact, not fictional, son of a bitch
I got the mind of a lunatic
