Quoted from DumbAss:As someone who has done this with several of my own different boards ... it's an awesome feeling to take a bare board, acquire all the required components, prepare any components for assembly, assemble the board to completion (over the course of days to weeks), test it in my bench rig and have it work. The icing on the cake is putting the board into a machine and have it working there. I know it's not for everyone but the sense of accomplishing something is a great feeling of achievement.
Well said.
Quoted from The_Director:Just out of curiosity, how much was your final investment roughly on parts?
Hey D
Never really added it all up. Probably less than RD. The bare board was $45 USD from Aus. The advantage that I see is being able to pick the manufacturer of components and to socket all chips. I also got in my soldering fix for a while.
