Quoted from cosmokramer:

Installing new side rails. This is done with two sided foam tape applied in the inside of the rail....
[quoted image]
Then I apply a second tape because I have had the backing tear off while pulling it in the middle of installation. That sucked...
[quoted image][quoted image]
Then I pull about 6 inches of backing off and fold it so it faces down...
[quoted image]
Then simply put the rail in position and install the bolt but dont tighten it, pull on the piece of backing that is hanging down while pressing the rail in place...
Easy...[quoted image]

Suprised you didn't go with powder coating .

I did powder the last few restorations I have done, but TOM is so beautiful the way it came from the factory that I wanted to achieve the same look. I did add a bit of extra brass plating just for show, but didnt want to add a bunch of mods, use a bunch of colored GI, or add any powder to this build.
However I think a color DMD may be in order...

When I bought this (and some whitewater boulders) I had to get a german mailbox and use a mail forwarding service because at the time they did not ship to the US...I dont know if that is still their policy.

Still their policy.

I stepped away from this project for about a month...partly because it takes a certain amount of focus to complete the final tedious tasks, and frankly I was not in the mood lately. And partly because I have been busy building wall displays and knocked out a few cabinets for some local guys.
But, Im ready to start back up on this machine and get it finished. I need to remove the ramps and wireforms, swap out some decals and some flasher bulbs, change out a few pesky actuators, troubleshoot a noisy gearbox and probably a dozen other items on the check list.

I got a message awhile back from a pinball collector who is not on Pinside, but has been following along with this thread. He told me there was something wrong with my restoration, that I had an incorrect part and that he would mail me what I needed. I had no idea what to expect, I got a package a few days later...

I had no idea that TOM and CV had a different shooter rod than most other WPCs from this era. Jason was kind enough to mail me a NOS original shooter rod to complete the "natural" look.
Way cool buddy, a class act...THANK YOU!

A couple of recent builds....

Oh wow. I didn't even catch the wrong shooter rod. I have my original in a box of parts (have a "gold" replacement on mine). The swirly grey colors should have stuck out as missing in your photos. I guess I was busy looking at all of the awesome work that you did.

Tell me more about the demolition man wall hanger above. Is it just like a light box or is it more like a lcd picture frame thingy.

Heres a more finished (and more expensive) unit if you don't want to mess with the DIY kit...
