Really cool. I have a TOM - let me know if you need any pics or if I can help out in any way!
Thanks man, actually i could really use a good high res picture of the speaker panel and DMD if you get a chance. Think i'm good on everything else.

This level of attention to detail is incredible. Keep up the great work, you are incredibly talented.
How accurate to the original machine is this? I mean obviously there are going to be small differences reverse engineering a complete pinball by scanning the playfield, then modeling ramps and such by laying it out based on the original. What I'm getting at, it would be interesting if eventually a bunch of the more popular tables got archived, and if anyone needed detailed information in the future (what screw goes here? How can I get a replacement ramp?). Heck, I'm even thinking like 100 years from now when some horrible scorched earth happens and every pinball gets destroyed, someone will rebuild one from scratch using models and coding stored on ipdb.
hahaha, well i always try to model directly from the real machine. Luckily i have a good friend with a vast collection of beautifll pins at my disposal so thats a plus. I try to stay within 1/16 on things like placement, ramps and plastics and .001 small pieces like screws, posts etc. I measure the playfield in real life then possision the scanned image to match and its spot on. Its fun once you start putting it together and everything just fits. But, its a lot of work lol. There are SO many pieces. So far i have four pinball machines and every one gets a bit easier cause i have more and more pieces added to the library.
Still trying to find a high res image of the cabinet and backbox if anyone knows where i could find one.
Yea, its always hard to find a good image of the cabinet art. this was one from somebody on VPForums that i asked to use but havn't recieved a responce from so i won't use it and besides i would rather have the original anyway.
Quoted from fiberdude120:This is cool but what is the purpose of it all when you are done?
I like the pinball POV video tour! Can't wait to try that out. Do you make a sheet of glass to put on it, or just leave it off for the final model?
Looks like that same thing that happened to me:

So the "bulb" or glass part of the object you unchecked that under properties? I've never had to do that before, wierd. I'll have to do some testing and get to the bottom of it. I thought it had something to do with the lights settings itself.

Can't remember now, I'll let you know next time I get into 3ds, hopefully this weekend.
Nice Work, these look great!!! I used to be a big lightwave user, havent done much 3D stuff in years.

What kind of work did you do in Lightwave? I used it back in college along with Softimage both great 3d programs.

I'm going through and trying that now, Nothing else seems to get rid of the problem.
The most obvious application I can think of for this is Visual Pinball/Future Pinball. Visual Pinball would look better because it can be prerendered with all the ray tracing effects that take hours to pull off. Future Pinball would require a polygon count reduced version though right? Or can today's graphics cards render all that in real time minus the ray traced lighting?

I unchecked Visible to Reflection/Refraction on the GI bulbs. These bulbs right now are a group made up of all of the parts - base, filament, glass part, etc. All unchecked and I think that is what made those circles go away, although that was a while ago. But I don't have them now.
