I have fond memories of this pin and really had fun with it during the honeymoon phase. However it really shows it's lack of depth after you give it some serious play. At one time I owned all three (TOM, TOTAN, CV) Seeing all three together you notice how very similar the layouts are. Still own the CV as that was always my favorite. I ended up trading for a nice WH2O and Whirlwind...Don't miss it at all. Hope I don't come off as raining on your parade. It truly is a work of art and I'm glad you're getting some enjoyment out of it.
When this pin first showed up 18 years ago, it was state of the art. I played it for hours on end. Lately it seemed a little bland compared to some of the other pins. All it took was adding a little color scheme with strategically placed LEDs and several color changers to update its condition and once again make it a centerpiece of the gameroom.
I have one restored with Tiger saw, mirror mod and LEDs.
Asking 5K.
I have to sell off a bunch of my collection to turn my gamrage back into a garage for my vehicles.
I just got hit for another 100 bucks worth of gas and I have to replace the destroyed filler neck so I need to sell off 6 games.
Last week they got my Perlux fog lights.
Quoted from Nilroc:The TOM I have is totally original and has no mods.
What is the best mod for the TOM?
Tiger saw mod with the v1.4 home ROMs.....saw works during modes and not just when you hit the switch
I like the gold tiger saw, the upgraded and lit marquee and the gold chains. Those are the only ones I would do for sure. But you can go hog wild and put on rabbits, a magic hat, a clock, and a few others. Pretty nuts.
I loved this game for a long time, but got bored by the lack of interesting wizard mode. The truck is still one of my favorite toys ever in pinball though.
Quoted from Nilroc:Let's see how many Pinsiders are TOM owners.
Post if your a TOM owner.
You can go to the archives and go to ToM and it will show you how many pinsiders own, want it
edit-419 own it
I love my TOM which has custom made brass trim, active gold tiger saw, PDI clock tower, mind orbits shooter rod and Drano's gold mirror blades. Deep game play it is far from it but the shots feel right all the time and always popular with anyone that comes over to play.

I've had mine for about a year now. Added the tiger saw and lighted mirror. It's my wife's favorite so it won't be going anywhere. Also one of the favorites of guests. One of the best looking pins IMO.
Come on by! At the moment everything is up and working....
Looking to buy or just smack around my balls?
I've had a ToM for ~1.5 years now.
centerflank, did you custom make those velvet sides? I really want to add that to mine!

Some guy on ebay, he has black panels too. just looked he still has them for sale.
Hey, does anyone have issues with air balls from the trap door? It seems like the metal flap is too thick causing massive air time when going for the right ramp. Its laying flat and down all the way, but its a huge height difference from the playfield. I am thinking its the wrong piece on mine. Are anyone's that thick or do you have a thin one like the bottom of a ramp flap?
Just picked one up his past weekend at TPF. Pretty fun pin. Looks great and seems to be pretty popular with guests. Max, mine doesn't seem to have any issues with the trap door being too thick. Still learning the pin and rule set. Did break a million tonight on a game but don't know if that's good on TOM. Very happy to have it in the collection.

I am not sure what you are saying here. The trapdoor shouldnt pop the ball into the air ever. It should be held close to the PF by the springs.
Quoted from PDXGeek:You Canadians are crazy. I don't think I could ever put a pin in the snow.
Was thinking the same thing...
Ok, Im joining the club. I loved playing it at the local mall arcade when it first came out and bought it as my first dmd machine around '02. Beautiful to look at, flows like the Nile and still puts a huge smile on my face after all these years. Nice work JPop!
I feel very lucky to have just picked up a, no kidding, home-use-only Theatre of Magic from the original owner. I can't believe my luck. The machine came with the original envelope that contained the unused manuals, schematics, service bulletins, key-chain fob, stickers, and spare bulbs. It had been so rarely used and rarely serviced that the lock-down bar "beer seal" became glued to the glass and had to be pried off. It also appears to have the original batteries (that did not have an expiration date which are common with modern batteries) which by some miracle did not leak.
I'm in the process of fixing some minor items and cleaning it up. Pictures to follow.
Any advice on removing the ramps for cleaning? Is it as straightforward as finding each screw/bolt and removing it or is there a gotcha?

Yes. All the time. It pisses me off because: A) It makes it very hard to shoot the right ramp; and B) I've lost many a good ball from bounces into the right outlane
I like Nilroc's pictures. Perhaps all machine owners in the Theatre of Magic club should post a picture of:
1) Rear cabinet sticker
2) Magic trunk
3) Whole machine picture

No 'gotchas' with a playfield tear down on TOM. One of the easier ones I think.
Quoted from Skypilot:or this ?
Yes, that did it! Thank you. It seems I am missing one post.
The post I believe your referring to is the Achilles heal of this game. The ball will get stuck between that post and the trunk and will often result in breaking the post off flush with the playfield.
