In case you haven't seen this thread:
    https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/data-east-speaker-noise-ideas-for-a-cure

The “HumBucker" HB-001 from White North Retro is the simplest way to help mitigate the annoying and constant 12v hum thats emitted over the speakers on most Data East pinball machines. It doesn’t require any soldering or conversion to your games, just simply plug it in-line with the soundboard power cable and go. The device works on all Data East games as well as the first three SEGA games: Baywatch, Batman Forever, and Frankenstein. Developed and made in Alberta, Canada. The HB-001 is a must have for any Data East pinball machine.

They are for sale in the US on Marco Specialties for $39.99usd

    And from WhiteNorthRetro world wide.

Great , where can I buy then ?

    #19 2 years ago

This latest order was bought completely by Pinball Life. As soon as we ship them out to PL we’ll post on our Instagram/Facebook. Keep an eye out.

    #20 2 years ago

Glad these will be ready soon!! Just circling back to see if these would work on Maverick

    Thanks

Getting ready to ship the next batch out to PinballLife! Should arrive in a few days so keep an eye out.

Also, we’ve removed the key pin from the top connector in this batch so you won’t need to take the key plug out of the power cable. Couldn’t find a reliable source for the tiny plastic plugs for the lower connector, so as always please check your work when installing.

Ok, that was nuts. This order was bigger than the first, however this one sold out in under 12 hours compared to the 36hours the first time.

More are on the way. A lot more. And more vendors too so you international folk will be able to save a bit on shipping from your local pinball shops.

You guys are insane. Haha. Thank you. More to come. ☺️

    Man … missed out again.

Next run I hope…my LW3 is in need, I restored it and it still draws me in but it is just a game you have to shut off if you are not actively playing because of the speaker noise.

    #26 2 years ago

Hi ChanceKJ, I would love to purchase one of these filters. Do you have any Australian vendors?

    Thanks

Hey! None yet, but we have been talking to a number of vendors globally. The next round will be about 5 times what we’ve produced so far and we’ll be changing the colour of the PCB.

    #28 2 years ago

I also missed out again!!! Can´t believe is gone so fast....... anybody knows if it works in "Back to the future" ?

    Limited Edition? Whaaaa?

Ok, so we made 10 of these as a pathway towards our next big run. Figured we’d number them and offer them as direct sale. Do they do anything different then the other ones? No. Are they any better than the green ones? Not really unless you like matte black. Are they really anything different? We’ll, kinda, the pcb is a couple millimetres larger, and the logo is bigger if that matters? We also ditched the silkscreen on the top to give it a “stealth” look, cause matte black/white/silver is cool. Do you need this if you already have one on your game? No, not at all, they work just as good as the green ones, and even the yellow prototype I use in my R&B&F. Oh, I also added little gold numbers (out of 10) to each with a paint pen, just to be a bit extra.

We’re going to be offering these first come first serve, limit 2 per person, Price will be $39.95 USD per filter, plus exact shipping. Payment will be thru PayPal. If you want a couple, message me direct with: your Full Name, Address, PHONE NUMBER (for customs), email, and if you want one or two boards. Over the weekend I’ll get exact shipping quotes and get back to you with your total and the PayPal address to send the payment to. Oh and we’ll ship world wide, (Except to Russia for obvious reasons…).

When these LTD ones are gone, they’re gone. But don’t worry, very soon we’ll have so many of the new regulars we’ll be using the extras to prop up the back feet of our games.

The good news our latest production run has cleared thru Canada Customs and should be arriving to my doorstep this week.

The bad news is they all missing the bottom molex connector as there is a global shortage of the part. We're working with a number of suppliers to get them as soon as possible and we'll solder them all on ourselves. in the mean time we'll inspect them all and test them as best we can.

    1 week later
    #36 1 year ago

Ok, good news and bad news…

We know quite a few of you have been waiting very patiently for our next run of boards to arrive. And the good news is that they are here. Fresh in from the factory. HUNDREDS of them.

Now the bad news, you can’t buy them yet and the wait time is going to be a bit longer. Unfortunately there is a global shortage (as in ZERO stock) across over a dozen parts suppliers for the molex connectors on the bottom of the board. We have some that could arrive as soon as early September. As soon as they do we’ll install them, test the boards, package them, and ship them off to our vendors.

Speaking of which, we’ve added Marco’s to the vendor list. We’re still looking for a vendor in Europe and we’ll hopefully have a couple in Australia finalized by the time the connectors land.

Parts shortages suck. Thank you for your patience.

Oh! Also, here’s a look at our new Version 1.1 of the board. Stealth black on the top, slightly smaller footprint, same great functionality.

Keep an eye out here or on our Facebook/Instagram pages for availability. When these are ready we’ll be launching them globally on the same day across all vendors. Shouldn’t be too long now.

I didn’t realize that. I don’t believe I saw data east printed on it anywhere. Only Sega graphics in the DMD
