One thing you can tell her is that pinball machines largely hold their value. As long as you are paying fair market value for a used game that game should hold it's value or go up. The only exception is NIB where you will see some depreciation but even then it's not that much. I imagine if you tried to sell your A/V equipment, you would only get a fraction in return of what you spent.
