    Quoted from MrBally:

Showing a photo on your phone or the original card is protected by HIPAA rules. It does not need to be shown to a non-medical organization employee. Nevada casinos/casino employees cannot even ask a guest to produce the card. Even though they have signs posted stating fully vaccinated guests are not required to wear a mask, they cannot ask for proof.
The casinos have rights if a guest is not vaccinated, but falsely represents they are and are proven to cause any harm.

This is has been debunked about a billion times, it is in no way a HIPAA violation to ask, and they absolutely can ask.

    Quoted from MrBally:

We can agree to disagree. Anyone can ask if you are vaccinated or not. They cannot demand you show your card.
Nevada casino Legal Departments have informed employees that the casino can be subject to action if an employee, while representing the business asks to see the vac card. They specifically cite HIPAA.
I'll trust someone with a JD over a newspaper article.
I may have missed it, but I did not see any mention of asking to show a vac card in that article.
Tim has good Legal counsel anyway so Let's let it go. Next PHoF visit I make, I'll show my card if asked. No use being shown the door and not be allowed to play the Bally Galahad there.

It took me 5 seconds on Google to see that this isn't true:

"The Nevada Gaming Control Board, which sets the rules for casinos, reacted quickly to update its rules. It will neither require nor prohibit casinos from asking for proof of vaccination. It also said casinos can set rules on masks that are more restrictive than the CDC's guidelines."

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/05/14/wynn-says-vaccinated-people-can-ditch-masks-in-nevada-casinos.html

I assume most larger places like casinos wouldn't require a card because you'll lose the "my freedom!" crowd, but I'm fully vaccinated anyway so it's not really my concern anymore if people choose not to as they are only really endangering themselves at this point. I'm looking forward to checking it out this fall when we get out to Vegas.

    Quoted from ILovePinball:

Planning a 5 day Vegas trip in Aug (not renting a car bc of inflated costs) would like to know
the food options are nearby? Food trucks on site?
Is there any seating inside PHOF? I'm getting older and can't stand for hours.
    Thanks!

I'm no Rick Steves but I bet there's a place or two on the Vegas strip that sells some food

    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

People are always like “going to Vegas for a few days...can anybody suggest anything to do?”
It’s like...the place was built for the sole purpose of giving people things to do!!! I think you’ll Find some stuff if you walk a few feet.

Ha I couldn't help myself! If it was me I'd go drop some cash at julian serrano then over to Frankie's Tiki Room.

    Quoted from prl867:

I’m going to attempt to once again, clear up some “concerns” people have.
    First, the preface:
I volunteer at the PHoF about 25 hours a week. My daughter is a technician there.
I am BY NO MEANS speaking on behalf of Tim or the PHoF in an official capacity. The following is my personal opinion and I haven’t cleared anything I’m about to post with anyone prior to posting.
    ++++++=+
The Pinball Hall of Fame is not the best name for this facility. It has a built in “stigma” that gives people an incorrect assumption of what they will discover upon entry.
The PHoF official website is pinballmuseum.org. This is also confusing because many people confuse us with the former Banning Museum of Pinball.
The vast majority of people that post and frequent Pinside probably own (or have owned) at least one pinball machine and know with absolute certainty what a royal pain in the ass they are. Even if you only one one. The PHoF has over 400 coin op machines in the building.
The PHoF is open every day of the year and has been for several years (only closure being forced due to pandemic). Even when moving from Trop location to current, the place closed one night and opened in he very next morning in new location.
This concept can be credited 100% to Tim
Arnold and the Pinball Collector's Club of Las Vegas. Is Tim the friendliest, most approachable, and charismatic guy you’ve ever met? No. Absolutely not. He’s abrupt, loud, sometimes rude, and definitely frugal. He’s also someone I have the utmost respect for, superior admiration for his integrity, and astounding knowledge of pinball and electronics in general. I am thankful every day that my daughter is privileged enough to call him her mentor.
The PHoF has a metric ton of non-functioning games on the floor. This is true. From Whoa Nellie to Fathom to Jurassic Park Data East to, at present, Addams Family and Indiana Jones TPA. These and many more games have issues. Problems that need to be fixed by a qualified technician. Like Tim. Like my daughter. Like Louis. The PHoF has about 5 technicians on staff I think (including managers). Do the math.
The goal of any repair on any machine at the PHoF is to keep the games working and operational and able to take Quarters.
You can play a vast majority of the games in the PHoF. The others can be viewed, free of charge, any time that the PHoF is open. There is no entry fee.
ALL AGES ARE WELCOME. This is NOT a 21+ facility. No alcohol is served and there are no gambling machines.
NO SALES TAX is charged on Gift Shop items because the PHoF is a 501(c)3 NonProfit Entity.
There is Free Parking for all PHoF guests. The PHoF does not sell spaces for stadium events and event parking in general is not permitted at any time.
There is no smoking (cigarettes or other) of any kind allowed inside.
No One (children nor adults) is allowed to run in the facility.
Soda/bottled water/Tea/Etc (non-alcoholic) are sold via a vending machine. Drinks are NEVER permitted to be placed on a machine. Stools and chairs are provided.
Finally, regarding masks. The state of NV at the time if this writing, still has a mask mandate.
Everyone above age 3 must wear a mask that covers mouth and nose at all times when inside the facility. Free masks are available at the gift shop/front desk.
The PHoF is, in my opinion, is a place you’re lucky to experience once in your life. I’m extremely fortunate that I get the pleasure of experiencing it 3-4 days a week.
    Thank you, timarnold.

I don't know if this really "clears anything up" as much as restates the criticism people have. Trying not to beat a dead horse, but Tim's (or anyone's) attitude and behavior is entirely within their control. While we certainly all have our moments of frustration in life, when the general perception of you is "abrupt, loud, sometimes rude", that should be cause for concern. I know if someone (let alone people I've only met one or twice at my workplace or my employees) were to describe me that way, it would give me some pause for self-reflection and consideration of how I'm behaving and perceived.

I think everyone understands that keeping this many games running basically 24/7 is almost impossible, but this is the business model you've chosen. Not all of us can spend 25 hours a week here. When you say you have X number of games, but 15% of them are down...yes, you can still have fun and play pinball, but it doesn't make it not disappointing when there is something you wanted to play that isn't working, which has happed to me on every visit. I think "do the math" would be fair criticism to offer as well from the patrons of the PHoF - is 5 techs enough when the constant feedback is disappointment at broken games?

I think we can all agree that it's a hell of an effort to run a place like this, and lord knows I'm not crazy enough to do it, but I think the constant deflection of any criticism is what tends to rub people the wrong way. You have an open forum like this for feedback, but it isn't really seriously considered or acted on, which again, Tim's place, Tim's rules, but don't be shocked when you keep getting the same feedback and wondering why.

    Quoted from too-many-pins:

All I know 100% for sure is if I was in Tim's shoes and kept reading about what I should be doing differently (or what I am doing wrong) I would just say the hell with it - cash out - and go enjoy the rest of my life instead of working hundreds of hours each month for free just to have people talk badly about me.
Look at what has happened to so many other great locations to play pinball that are now gone and be thankful PHoF is still their and growing. Focus on the positive and do what you can to help improve the negative. But beating the dead horse isn't going to change anything!

I think that is what people are trying to do...help improve the negative...but are met with the "nothing is changing so you should love it anyway" attitude.

If I was in Tim's shoes I'd focus on ways to improve my public perception and keep all my games running as much as possible...but we can definitely agree that no one (including the PHoF ) is going to change anything.

    Quoted from blacklightprod:

Thanks for asking. I have built over 500 amusement attractions across the World. I have worked for Universal Studios, Sea World, Busch Gardens, nearly every single Six Flags, Madison Square Garden, Cedar Point, I could give you the total list but its so long. I have built attractions based on Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Spider-Man, Garfield, James Bond, and so many more.
Visit our YouTube page look up Blacklight Attractions. Furthermore I actually own 7 escape rooms, Retro Mini Golf, 3 massive haunted houses. Last year our busiest night we did about 12,000 paid guests. Try handling 12,000 people in one night isn’t easy.
So hopefully that answers your question.
Lastly, let me repeat something for you. My comments are constructive criticism because I actually do see a lot of potential here. I think I pointed out clearly the positives, but from someone who annually deals with hundreds of thousands of guests I’m offering my professional opinion.
I personally would LOVE to go into this place and do all the work myself. I would love to take on a project like that because I like you love pinball.
To argue that its acceptable to have pinballs used as storage for trash, or boxes piled upon pinball machines, or a couple hundred games broken is a good thing well it would be yourself who has no experience operating an amusement attraction.
What the owner has done is AMAZING building that incredible building, securing that amazing location, and the neon sign that is something to die for! Kudos.
The point is now its time to operate the inside the way the outside looks! My opinion.

Unfortunately you're taking to a brick wall here. Anything remotely resembling criticism or feedback of the PHoF is met with immediate dismissal and a "love it or leave it"! As someone who has made the mistake of sharing my experience in the past, you're wasting your time and energy. Nothing has changed and nothing will change, which is a shame, but it's less stressful the sooner you accept it .

    Quoted from prl867:

I fully realize your quote is in relation to how the place is run, but I must interject a polarizing viewpoint/fact.
The PHoF indeed HAS changed, insanely dramatically, in the past 15 months. From a worn out former auto parts store in a questionable neighborhood with a sign that was literally a plastic banner tied to the building to Las Vegas Strip frontage with a $530k LED neon sign only a few feet from Mandalay Bay and the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign.
It is shocking, even to me, that Tim the Crotchety Pinball Pirate accomplished this feat all the while maintaining the “mom and pop” nature of the non-profit business.
Personally I feel one of the best parts about being a volunteer that used to work for various large corporations is that when someone breaks the rules or pisses is off with their attitude or damage a game, we don’t refer them to a “manager” or refer them to corporate or a customer service department. We simply tell them to get the heck out and escort them to the door.
Best damn job I’ve ever had. Hence I gladly do it for free.

Kind of my point. The location has changed, sure. The spirit and philosophy of how it's run hasn't. Who cares about the location when the experience inside isn't great? You don't play the cabinet as they say
