Quoted from emguy:For the list of games at the PHoF, would this be classified as an Apollo, or a Lunar Shot?

Yes.
OK, these are the last photos from my recent trip. Tim's wry humor is on display with "Ghetto Trip" info card, but also has some extra interesting info about the "butterfly bumper". A lot of the info cards on the games have this type of informational nuggets that I appreciate, probably in large part due to Tim's years spent as an operator actually purchasing these games for use. He's got the "inside info" about the manufacturers that he shares on these cards. They're worth a read.
By the way, Tim, Beth and crew were great to me while I was there. Approachable, helpful, focused on their work. Saw numerous techs caring for the games the 2 times I stopped by. Thankful this place is there, and grateful to all those that share and maintain this collection of games.
Bumper (resized).jpegI really feel like it could be done. It needs to be done. I want that giant sign on a building near me. So envious. I’ll be quiet now.
Quoted from Azmodeus:We so need a place like this here in Los Angeles Orange County. I am compelled.

Have you been to a town called Banning just down the I-10?

If they were only open more than like 3x a year, I’d spend a boatload of time there.

Why bother with the drive to the Morongo Valley if you live here, near the new, expanded PHoF?

Hopefully soon, they are planning to move to Palm Springs and be open on a regular schedule.

Of course. Thirty minute drive from me without traffic. But I want another place. We could use one close to Disneyland, and open daily. We could have a banning pinball museum section. I would hope.
Going to take some money and effort boys and girls.

Last night the Pro model of The Mandalorian arrived at PHoF in box. I believe it was unboxed last night and will hit the floor today.
I think at this point it’s just safe to assume that every location everywhere is getting a mando this week.
Quoted from ILovePinball:Planning a 5 day Vegas trip in Aug (not renting a car bc of inflated costs) would like to know
the food options are nearby? Food trucks on site?
Is there any seating inside PHOF? I'm getting older and can't stand for hours.
Thanks!
I'm no Rick Steves but I bet there's a place or two on the Vegas strip that sells some food
Went over the weekend. New location is great, don't recall any seating. And no food, unless there was something in the vending machines.
Eataly in the Park MGM had the best Neapolitan pizza I’ve ever had in America.
The place is huge 3 different place to get pizza. There’s a sit down restaurant called La Pizza & La Pasta. That’s where you’ll want to get that pizza!
The closest food to PHoF would probably be in the Mandalay Bay Casino.

People are always like “going to Vegas for a few days...can anybody suggest anything to do?”
It’s like...the place was built for the sole purpose of giving people things to do!!! I think you’ll Find some stuff if you walk a few feet.

Ha I couldn't help myself! If it was me I'd go drop some cash at julian serrano then over to Frankie's Tiki Room.

Well yeah, but what if you want to do some really crazy stuff, like get drunk and party all night, gamble some money away, or look at nekkid women???
OK, well I’ve got something new on the radar along with the PHOF for my next trip, it’s on the other end of the strip and it’s called Area 15. Looks like fun stuff. Especially Omega Mart, you can look them up on YouTube, there are a bunch of videos about them and also their crazy commercials. I really want to go visit that store!
Visited the new PHOF the other day and had a great time. A bit of a walk from the Cosmopolitan but it was worth it. The employees there were very nice and purchased a t-shirt. I waited to play the Mandolorian and proceeded to break the plastic ramp so they had to power it off. It had only been on for a few days and had been down several times. They were nice enough to coin me up on another machine. There were several fold up chairs back by the restrooms.

Just went to Vegas. Food prices all time high. Example: large pizza in food court at Caesars is $44, ands that's fast food!

Everything is higher priced here. Even White Castle sliders are $1.29 without cheese. And that's at the Paradise & Koval location off the strip. It has a drive-thru.
A good local pizza chain, Angelina's, offers a large pepperoni pizza for $19.00. A real, had-tossed 18" pie, not a machine-made crust, and not a Little Caesar's 14" large.
There are several chairs. Mostly former slot chairs and stools. Also a bench in the back by the restrooms and a cafeteria style booth against the video game wall.
Mandalorian is back up. Tim fixed it.

Theres a ton of great priced food just a few minutes off the strip. We got a great sushi lunch for two today for $38 and a nice italian dinner for $50 including tip
Since there are "other things to do" in Vegas being posted here for when people come to the PHOF, here are a couple suggestions as well...
For a great Italian food dinner (both food and atmosphere), this is an awesome place to go that only locals really know about. Casa di Amore is a few miles off the strip on Tropicana (which is why visitors don't know about it), but it is the way Vegas used to be. Very rat-packish with live music and awesome staff. If you call them, they have a shuttle bus that whey will send to pick you up and then bring you back, just tip the driver!! We go there every time we go to Vegas. Check them out: http://www.casadiamore.com/
And then something a few of us tried a while back on a whim ended up being pretty awesome. I have done a couple of escape rooms before and they are fun, but this one is done at a whole new level and actually has like 6 rooms to get out of in order to get to the next room (its a chain). It was a very fun experience and the actual set builders from the SAW movie franchise worked on this project. It is 100% fully immersive and it is as real as it gets. Make a reservation and enjoy: https://sawescaperoom.com/
Just a couple "off the beaten path" recommendations if you were looking for something different in Vegas.

Just got back from a long weekend of pinball gambling and seeing the fight at the Virgin hotel on Saturday. If there's one thing that made the weekend great, it was grabbing snacks for the room at the 7-Eleven next to the White Castle. That place needs its own reality show.
As for a good deal on food you still can't beat the $6.99 steak n eggs at Ellis Island casino. Go sign up for the players club get 2 free beers $5 bucks in slot play.

That 7-11 and White Castle are indeed their own reality show in the making.
Since we're on Food. I did years of work and events at the old Hard Rock, sadly now the Virgin Hotel.
Kitty Corner my old Favorite the Hofbrauhaus, great fun food!! Medium pricey but good.

Because even fast food jobs paying $12-15/hour ??
Quoted from bob_e:Because even fast food jobs paying $12-15/hour ??
My 17YO son just recently got his first job in a fast food joint. He’s making $10.50/hour and getting 25-30 hours a week.
Just finishing up our trip in Vegas. Went on a helicopter ride and caught this on the incoming flight. Looks cool from the air.
Also came later and played some pinball with my daughter. Had a great time!
Quoted from cosmokramer:Packed today!
No proof of vaccine needed. Honor system for masks. Attendent told me they were tired of arguing with people...
[quoted image][quoted image]
I was also there yesterday. I showed my vaccination card to the woman and she told me they were no longer required. She said a couple of people got violent and they were tired of dealing with it.
It was a bit confusing because the signs on the door still say masks are required although when I was there, 90% of the people didn't have them.
Played a few games of Mandalorian and really enjoyed it. Can't wait until I get mine. The strangest thing I saw was a line (ok..two people but still) waiting to play Punchy The Clown.

Side note, it is great that marijiuna is legal in Vegas now but the quote above rings true. If you are able to bring your own safely like I do, you might save a few bucks…
Also, is anyone else getting all motivated by the new pictures in the new place? I can’t wait to go.

Waiting in the Blanc Chateau drive thru line (Paradise Road location) is a trip in itself with the pot dispensay next to Liquor world. People smoking in the parking lot will get you a free high lime most White Castles, it can be a 20-30 minute wait in line so even with windows up, you still smell it.

Story checks out. I don't partake, but visited Planet 13 with some friends in January 2020. Looks like an Apple store, with prices to match. Legality was the worst thing to happen to regular weed smokers.
Quoted from gamera9:What is the closest hotel?
Actually, this sketchy place is right next door. https://diamondinnlv.com
After walking the strip in the heat on Sunday, (we stayed at MGM), it was starting to look pretty good.

If you scroll down the comments someone cropped the right side of the building off in a comical way. Not sure if they are a pinsider or not.
