Steve don't kick me for asking -- what's the most Black Holes you've ever seen lined up in a row at a PINBALL show?
    Just thought I'd ask...
    hehe...

Right now, I'm concentrating on installing a floor in the game room, it's a real mess over here now.

I have never played BBBB or Game Show as well.

BBBB isn't bad actually, spybryon has one...

    PAGG is nearing quickly.

I'd like to call the 2015 PAGG Convention to order starting now, *knock* *knock*

    Let's get down to business.

I'm considering bringing games for the first time, I wonder if others are in the same boat.

    1. Who has brought a game to PAGG?
    2. What are your experiences? (with how a few hundred plays treats your game)?
    3. What are good ideas in terms of "bullet-proofing"?

If you are considering bringing games for the first time -- what questions/considerations do you have?

    1) Last year was first time and brought two (HS and LW3).

Just curious, who earned GC on your HS on Friday afternoon, that held for 3 days of the show?

    Quoted from practicalsteve:

If I made a pinball related poster to sell at PAGG would people prefer:
11"x17" which is a more standard size frame
Or 12.25"x17.25" which is bigger but may be harder to find a frame for.

Whatever is easiest to frame. Think about how some of the rest of us are not framing experts, and we just want to "Get it done cheap and easy."

Is there a games for sale list up somewhere? Considering making the trip.

2nd one has the warmest yellows in it, so I think it's most pleasing from a color standpoint.
(I'm an artist so I can say $hit like that with authority.)

As for size, I'm going to lean towards smaller. Why? Because I have a LOT of pinball stuff I want to hang up, (that's not up yet) and only 1 wall to hang it all on -- I can't have too many big ones, and not enough space for variety...

    Quoted from Jvspin:

I like #1 because you get a better view of the playfield layout. Is it the same photo as Steve's second picture shown below, because the colors are different.
    spirit pinball machines.jpg

The photo linked here (not 1 or 2) I think is best:

    1. yellow is the yellow in the game
    2. you can read the title of the game
    3. you can see the layout of the game

I understand that #2 above feels good because of the composition but it's very -- greyscale almost. It's not very striking from a pinball perspective. Blurry name, can't see layout, no popping colors.

I realize the background has stuff in it, but... Pinball is not typically viewed from the lockdown bar...

    -mof

    #479 9 years ago

Yeah, the grey-scale ones are ... lackluster.

    Quoted from pinsane:

Thanks for the comments and critiques on the photos. I've made some modifications which can be seen below.
As much as I liked my buddy Ty's LED-ized Spirit, I've taken your suggestions and made the leftmost pin match the others.
One of my favorite photographers, Jay Maisel, counsels photographers to "check your corners". While I personally like seeing the interior of the room, I've added a vignette to reduce distractions in the corners of photo # 1.
Regarding the warmth/intensity of colors, I had locally rebalanced the incandescent lighting when I submitted the photos to PracticalSteve. Based on your comments, I've set them back to the warmer colors. In my defense, these are HDR photos (which tend to exaggerate saturation) that were originally balanced to the overhead mercury lights so the incandescents end up pretty orange...
Desaturating photo 2 was an artistic choice, the micro-contrast was dialed up pretty high, and I thought by pulling back the colors it created a suitably eerie effect. I stand by this choice.
Thanks again for the comments. I hope you like whichever poster gets produced.

I was wondering how the heck you turned #1 into non-color-bombed-LED, and then I looked very closely at machine #7.

    #513 9 years ago

#2 really lets u be wowed by the backglass, which is REALLY what the game is about...

I don't OWN a Spirit. So I really like being able to see the layout of the PF (which you can't gather from #2)...

They are both great, but I still prefer #1. Why not make X of each one? Maybe some people will get both.

A few DMDs that blew my mind: (I had never played 'em before...)
    JD, NF

I'm always trying to refine my "top-25" 80's game list... This show helped.

    Nearly made my short list:
    Blackout, Firepower II

    Gained Points:
Flash Gordon, Spirit, Pharaoh, Swords of Fury, Galaxy, Star Gazer

    No movement:
Medusa, Elektra, Spectrum*, Silverball Mania, Fire!

*I've been told you have to have audio clues to play this one, so jury still out.

    Jury out:
Cyclopes, Andromeda, Viking -- it had a flipper issue...

    Show surprise:
Flipper Football is awesome. Great job Python!
