Please take the survey so we can get an idea of what new themes people are actually interested in. You can select multiple themes.

I know every possible theme is not listed. I think 103 options is a good list that covers most of what people have been talking about or asking for.

Note that the list goes left-right in alphabetical order (if viewing on a PC) rather than top down by column (not my fault).

    Nice

    #3 10 months ago

    Thanks for putting this together.

    #4 10 months ago

Nice work. I think John Wick is the most interesting option of the bunch, but lots of great themes there!

    #5 10 months ago

voted a couple, but would have loved to see Fifth Element in the mix

    #6 10 months ago

Love the list. Got some great titles on there and I voted for 5 I liked the best. Maybe it's just me but would love to see someone do a Speed Racer!

    #7 10 months ago

    Great lost!!

    But, You forgot The Misfits

    #8 10 months ago

    Pretty cool list!

Here are the most popular themes so far after 102 Pinsiders have submitted the survey:

Back to the Future (42 votes)
    Goonies (28 votes)
    Jaws (27 votes)
    Beetlejuice (26 votes)
    Legend of Zelda (22 votes)
    John Wick (21 votes)
    Whitewater 2 (20 votes)
    Harry Potter (20 votes)
    Blade Runner (20 votes)
    Beavis & Butthead (20 votes)
    Futurama (20 votes)
    Indiana Jones (19 votes)
    Simpsons (18 votes)
    Mad Max (18 votes)

Elton John was chosen by one person. One! Out of a hundred Pinsiders! If that's next from Jersey Jack, they are going to be in trouble!

Also, for Tron and LOTR, a vault is about as popular as a new game. For Ghostbusters, a new game is much more popular than a vault.

You kind of need to add up both Tron in that case, no? Regardless vault or new, they show interest. Same goes with any other that appear twice on the list.

Voted, nice job compiling the list.

It could be the same people voting for both a vault and a new game.

Top Gun / Top Gun Maverick ?

Agree. Old layout, but most would want modern screen.

I'll add Def Leppard and other reasonable suggestions if I post another survey next year.

My votes were only limited to themes I could include with the family as excitment. So no cool old movies I love. I have severe space limitation.

You can always play them on location. It's intentionally worded so you can select games that you'd be excited to play (or own). The average person responding to this survey is selecting 11 themes but I don't think most people are planning on adding 11 new games to their collection (though not all of these themes are eventually going to be made and only a handful of new titles are made each year).

OK, just clicked on 5 times more than I orginally did.

Elton John at 3 votes is only beating Thundercats for last place out of 100+ themes. Yikes, good luck JJP. Hopefully they take more of a Pinball Wizard angle instead of pure Elton John, like how ACNC was far more than just Alice Cooper.

    #26 10 months ago

Just like any other, great music pins always have to be about execution. The design of the game/PF/ruleset has to be great for the pin to be great. An Elton John pin could be great - many of his songs lend themselves well to pinball (Saturday night's alright for fighting, Crocodile Rock, Benny and the Jets, etc.) - but that won't matter if it plays like crap.

    #27 10 months ago

I need a green lantern pin

    #28 10 months ago

There are lots of great themes here and many that I would buy if the gameplay was really good.

I chose just a few that would be "must-buys" for me, however. There are others I left off because I feel they would be a 'wait and see'

    #29 10 months ago

Update after 200 Pinsiders have submitted the survey:
BTTF has a big lead with Jaws, Beetlejuice, Goonies and Harry Potter battling it out for second!

    #30 10 months ago

Of those getting the most votes, only Harry Potter makes sense to me. That theme has a lot of potential for design, art, marketing and inter-generational interest. JJP will probably do it. And it will be "eh, pretty good" in the same way the Hobbit is "eh, pretty good".

My issue with a HP, I would like to see it more like Hogwarts legacy rather than a 7 movies in one game. I love the movies, but seeing 20 year ago actors, clips or bad cg, i would rather see a new story with new stuff to add to the cannon. I would guess that keeping balls from being magnized would be an issue...
Judging on JJP's last few, it would be based on Magical Beasts, and distros will be stuck with them..

Well, you prefer the cheap license option so JJP likes your preference. I could not imagine the game without the main characters. Otherwise, its Toy Story 4 all over again.

    #33 10 months ago

Matrix, John Wick and Kill Bill would have great stories to play out and could do stellar multiball I think. Kill Bill was done independently so other titles would be nice to see with that type of action. Those 3 could probably grab a fairly broad audience too. Popular movies with a slight cult following. Mission Impossible would have potential but maybe not like the other 3. Not gonna lie, multiball and fight modes on John Wick could possibly be the absolute best if done properly. Problem is, the way JW ends may create challenges. That is where the Matrix can shine. It can always reboot.

Pokémon could be a title kids would possibly get into and how many battles could you do? Even play it like a card game maybe? Not my cup of tea but a popular entity. Gundam for that matter. Is still a thing.

A lot of the other titles are really nostalgia outside of music groups. May be a tad niche to be worthwhile.

I would be in on a TOTAN or TOM remake though. 2 games that deserve it.

Yeah, me too. None of the 100 themes were of interest to them? I'd like to know what they would vote for.

    Quoted from mbeardsley:

    I thought it meant this

The survey option is "None of these."

Nice list! I ended up voting for more than I thought I would. Here's my choices, and in the order I would want them:
    1st - Pokemon
    2nd - Futurama
    3rd - Monty Python
    4th - sonic the hedgehog
    5th - legend of zelda
    6th - Spaceballs
    7th - Castlevania

I'm actually starting a new retheme pin project at the moment, and it's theme didn't even make this list with 103 options... not sure what that says about my choice hahaha.

    #39 9 months ago

I just chose three, Evil Dead, Rocky Horror, and Wednesday. Any of those would be a good fit for a Spooky release. I'd just hope that they would bring in a veteran designer like Nordman for the job.

    #40 9 months ago

I'm 40 years too late, but I always thought Get Smart (Don Adams version) would have made for a fun pin with the phone booth elevator, shoe phone etc.

I'm probably gonna get downvoted to Hell and back for saying this, but hear me out: I want a licensed pin for The Office.
I even have a somewhat-in-depth ruleset thought out and everything.
If I ever get into homebrewing, The Office may very well be my first game.

That's a very popular show with a lot of funny scenes and characters so why not?
I think Community would make a good theme for a game but that show wasn't nearly as popular as The Office.

How about a new Elvis. Oh yeah

I voted for (in preference order)

    Back to the Future
    Blue Brothers
    Harry Potter
    Monty Python
    Princess Bride
    Nightmare Before Christmas
    Dungeons & Dragons

The layout almost speaks for itself. it should replicate the office itself top/bottom, the outlanes can be the parking lot, can have a mini game below table with the warhouse or schrute farms.
