So... finally opened up my NIB Hobbit Smaug edition to find a gorgeous game but only 3 legs in the box

This happen to anybody else?

Also 2 of the legs are darker/more black than the third one that seems more gold.

They should spin this into something positive like a Willy Wonka promotion. Find the special 3 legged pin and win a prize, an all-expenses paid trip to tour the Jersey Jack Pinball Factory, and, yeah oh uh, your 4th leg.

I can see it now.

"5 golden legs have been put into random shipping boxes. If you find one of the legs you are to present yourself to the JJP factory on the provided date"

Then on that date Jack comes out of the factory dressed as Wonka and says "Welcome my friends. Welcome to my pinball factory".

Emails and voicemails to Jersey Jack have gone ignored so far.

Quoted from PACMAN:

The darker legs go in the back and the lighter leg in the front. It's all part of the shadowing perspective look they're going for.
I'm glad you took photographs to document the parts shortage, otherwise your claim with JJP wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
Now you just have to make sure that when JJP makes good they send you a second front leg, instead of a third rear leg.

#15 5 years ago

Really?

This thread is lame.

To answer the question, "has this ever happened to anyone?" No, but twice I have bought a used pin and driven away without the legs. I supsect I am not alone.

When you say email do you mean no response to the support form you submitted?

Here is your chance to return a pretty bad game, get a WOZ or DI instead (I bought Smaug LE NIB)

Or, update the code to current and make a few settings tweaks - and keep/enjoy a phenomenal game.

I'm glad you enjoy yours. But I found it incredibly boring after a while. I LOVED it when it first came out, gave it a 10 star review. But the lack of shots and the repetitiveness of monster pop ups and multi balls gets old really fast. Plus if you are a pretty good player, you'll get to the point of killing smaug just about every game and going through all the modes. I love JJP, I love my WOZLE and I love DI, but I'm sorry I'm not alone when I say this pin falls short. Beautiful to look at, average at best to play, especially once the honeymoon phase is over.

At what code did you get rid of it? Did you ever set Beasts to harder so they didn't pop up as much & were more difficult to collect? Did you open the outlanes, remove the center post, and jack the legs up to make it more challenging? The beauty of pinball - there are options to dial it in to work for your tastes.

I still think it's phenomenal to play. There's no cinematic movie-license game like it at all. Perfect implementation of the theme and content, tons to do, tons of variety.

JJP support is usually fantastic, keep calling. Frank is very very good

I would call this the TRIPOD edition LOL! Minor setback but you will get your leg eventually

you've got to keep calling and calling. don't waste time posting on Pinside. keep hitting redial on your phone.

#31 5 years ago

It is my opinion that you shouldn't have to keep calling and calling to get a response to this issue. Everyone keeps saying how great the service is but it appears your experience doesn't quite match up with that. Hopefully you can get this resolved soon!

Also one shouldn't have to call if online support request form was filled out. If you do need to, JJP needs to scrap their ticket system and just answer the phone. The company is more than six years old and they should have the ticket system kinks worked out by now.

If they are busy and backed up there, I'd keep calling, skip voice mail for the missing leg, and see if Paul or Frank answer.

Or hit O and explain to the operator you need to speak with Paul or Frank, not voice mail.

Still no leg. Talked to Frank for 15 minutes 3 months ago and he assured me he'd take care of it. Left a message today. How do these guys stay in business?

Obviously he forgot....Honest mistake. I woulda followed up sooner........

Yep totally my fault.

"0" doesn't go to operator, it goes to directory. I've tried all of them and they all go to voice mail - even sales. Wow.

I don’t know who your dealer was nor do I need to know. Pm me your info and I’ll get you taken care of

It was Joe at pinball star. He told me i had to deal with JJP directly.

If talking to Frank doesn't do it. ( try and get live Frank, not voice mail ) dial 732-364-9900 hit O then 372 should go to Frank.

No response ? Then get Joe involved.

Can you paste a URL into an online support request? Send them this thread and say that making a public mockery of JJP's reportedly awesome tech support over something this stupid is a real head-scratcher.

#44 5 years ago

At least you got more legs than the imamaculate Baywatch had.

#45 5 years ago

As someone that has worked personally with frank on both WoZ and DI machines, that guy had always been ultra responsive and helpful. Everything was resolved timely. I'm sorry to hear about your situation though. Sounds like an anomaly.

#46 5 years ago

I'm an account manager for customer relationship management software. I live and breathe customer support. This sort of thing is unacceptable and you should feel absolutely zero responsibility for this situation. It should have been resolved as soon as you submitted a request via their web form, that's why it's there. You should take Larry up on his offer and continue to warn others about your poor experience. It's one thing I've noticed over and over again with manufacturers and distributors in this hobby. There is this sudden uptick in sales but they don't have the support organization to provide prompt and valuable service. And we let them get away with it.

#47 5 years ago

Voice Mail.
